If you have ever traveled and obverved a local folk-reinactment at some village or old town-ship this will give you an idea of what the JW Memorial is like. They put on this little show as a pretense of being a Christian religion. They spend 5 minutes talking about Jesus and 15 minutes telling you why you should become a Jehovah Nit-Witness. Then they put Jesus back in the closet until next year. The memorial is kind of a show and tell and then a show-off and party afterward. They use it like a new retail store uses a big sale to get people in the door with the hope that once you go the first time you will be more likely to return.

memorial advice please?
by jaffacake ini've been invited to a memorial on thursday.
i'm currently unsure of my beliefs (somewhere between agnostic and christian, with an interest in science).
i have been baptised twice - catholic by sprinkling, and seventh day adventist by immersion - and have partaken of the bread & wine in both religions (although come to think of it, the catholic priest always kept the wine for himself).

counsel from elders
by bonnzo inhow many have had elder give u this counsel(or if /were an elder given this counsel):
"its come to our attention that u were(fill in space with anything that is up to your own conscience that is ok in wt world such as pg-13 movie, certain music, or choice of entertainmen).
this has offended the conscience of others" then proceeds to counsel u to cease and desist so as to appease the other persons conscience.. isn't this a case of the sensitive conscience forcing me to abide their concience even more so than they claim im offending theirs?

This reminds me of a time when the PO, a dapper, sweet older man with a mustache told me the CO, Claton Peace would not recommend me to be a Elder. Inspector General Peace said he didn't like the fact that I wore cowboy boots and had a mustache. I talked to Mr Peace about this and he confirmed that it was true. I pointed at my polished Justins and then at his ratty, worn and scuffed shoes. I told him I was raised in a military household and your foot gear had better look sharp, then I mentioned that his shoes looked like he stole them off the back of a car with, "just married" printed on the windscreen. He turned red and never spoke to me again...."thank God!"

I agree, generally if the thing complained about is something the elder agrees with he will exercise his imaginary authority and councel the offender. People are slick, they will find an elder that they know will most likely agree with them. Often the complainer has other motives, browney points or a dislike of the other person. This is the side of the religion I had the most distain for and WTS like to keep their people petty and small thinking so they encourage all this stupidness.

Yes, it's time again for the borg to pull out and dust off their cardboard Jesus so they can parade it around the Hall for five minutes to prove they are a Christain religion and not a book publishing company masquerading as a relgion. Then they will shove "Jesus" back in the closet until next year!

So men suck do they? Well I resemble that remark!!!!
Listen dear girl, men don't suck really, we just never grow up! You, like my 21 year old daughter, are dating real young boys. They are serious dip-shits OK?
I'm 50, own a nice home and have have had a successful business for 22 years and my lady friend is telling me all the time how I'm a little boy.
If you can't deal with us little boys maybe you should switch gender preferences.

I would not give the pricks the satisfation of sitting there letting them slap me one last time.
Why not jump up right before Brother Loser makes the announcement and tell them all you quit this wacked out cult and storm out? You steal their thunder and make the whole lot feel real uncomfortable instead of the reverse.

I saw with my GF. She is training to box and we both were impressed with the flick. It is not your typical "Rocky" type movie. I would not own it on DVD but I'm glad I saw it.

Scriptural basis for "judicial committee"'s?
by AlmostAtheist injw's at least *try* to have scriptural backing for all their little doctrines.
it may only be two obscure references to two cultures a thousand years apart celebrating a birthday, but at least they've got *something*.. have you ever known them to pony up any sort of biblical reference to justify the formation of a "judicial committee"?
i know they have their pet shunning scriptures, but that's after the committee meets and decides to axe you.

What I find interesting is that the WTS use the City Gate line of reasoning for their JC. But these were held in public. The JC today is held in private and the victim can't even hear the testimony of other Witnesses. The WTS claim that this is to protect the privacy of those involved, but we all know how fast that information makes the gossip rounds!
My feeling is that if the Elders grab a person and, "ask" them to come in the back room that this person stand their ground the tell the JC to meet them right here in full view of everyone and not hide like the cowards they are in some back room where no one can see what they are up to. Let the cong. see for themselves what goes on behind closed doors.

Remember that any thing the WTS disapproves of has nothing to do with knowing how God feels, but it has to do with their need to alienate their recruit from family and friends. Birthdays, Holidays and anything else that a persons family will get upset about falls into this area.
