i have noticed on past threads from posters from other countries than the usa that they would be hanging out in pubs and such while still jw's.
in the us i believe that going to bars would pretty much be a df/da offense.
in other countries is the policy different?
I agree with Odrade, Oregon loves it's micros and that includes the Witlesses. My experience has been that pubs, microbrew houses were pretty much okay, but most witnesses avoided "dive bars". Now I like dive/old man bars much better. The clientele is much more interesting!

my daughter was telling me yesterday that she was explaining the differences between jehovah's witnesses and other religions to her co-workers.
she explained that witnesses can't date "worldly" people-----only fellow witnesses.
she said jws don't celebrate birthdays because they are "pagan".......it dawned on my daughter that it was very incredible all the things jehovah's witnesses don't believe in or will not do.....can you think of different things that only jws do or do not do??
As a kid I made quite a few "worldly" friends who wanted to hang out, go to shows etc. I became an expert at keeping them at arm's length.
"Uhhhh... go to see a band this Saturday?.uhh..I think we are going out of town.."
I was also great at concealing the fact that I was a part of a kooky religious organization.

Sorry folks, my Saturday became really screwed up, so I was a big "no show." How embarassing after starting this post. Anyhow I think Blondie has a good idea about using something for an identifier. That would save us from tapping strangers on the shoulder and asking them if they used to be "other sheep." Hope to meet you folks at the next one, or sooner if anyone is interested.

a jw woman died a few days ago at the age of 31. she died from ovarian cancer.
i knew her since she was a young girl.
but her death got me thinking about the jw belief/interpretation of the resurrection.
This bothered me as well when I was a witness. I remember a talk about persecution where the speaker said, "There is nothing that can befall us in Satan's system of things, that Jehovah cannot undo." I guess that didn't apply to the post resurrection marriage scene.
Here's another mental twister.
A man and woman in their mid-twenties have a baby. A tragic automobile accident kills the man and woman, but the infant survives. The infant is raised by another family, grows old, and survives into the new order. His parents are raised up from the dead, and he is still growing younger each day. So his parents are now resurrected and the baby is older than the parents sixty years.
