Thinking, thinking and thinking. I had stopped attending meetings due to personal depression and lonliness. I was already all but out of the truth, but then 9/11 happenned and I thought, I cannot hardly deal with the emotions of watching these two trade center buildings be destroyed and 6000 people involved ( I guess now the death toll for 9/11 is between 3 and 4 thousand people) I had nightmares and was uneasy and crying over songs, reports etc. for months. Then I thought about the fact that this is what I was working for, praying for, that not just two buildings collapse but that every building and billions of people be destroyed. Whatever God does in the future or allows to happen is not my place to decide, but I cannot look forward to that and I know I would not be smiling and laughing and rejoicing the day after. Not after what we all went through, it became a reality then not just a picture in a book. I had decided to stop attending meetings and was inactive long before but that was the straw that made me decide that my inactivity would be permanent. Then having active Witnesses tell me that I was weird for dwelling so much on the event and basically that I should move on, after all they will be resurrected if in Jehovah's memory. Tell that to the little six year old whose Daddy didn't come home that day. That was really the nail in the coffin for me. The whold 1914 generation new light thing didn't exactly strengthen my faith in the org. either.

The WatchTower and Higher Education

i am impressed with the superb thinking ability of many who post here.

oh, I could go on and on about this one. I am mid thirties and should have gone to college. Yes, I can go back now, but I cannot afford it, and keep my full time job. It was just assumed all through my growing up years that I would not go and it was wrong. My counselor wanted me to go so bad. I had 4.0 averages through High School. My Mom actually received a hard time at times about letting me go to a Tech School. To this day I am so mad and even more so when I read a slight change in the Tower's attitude toward this subject a few years back.

Lessons of the FOOL
by manon inthings are not always as they appear!
usually when we think "fool" we imagine a simpleton, someone who is out of touch with reality or an object of social ridicule.
the common celebration of april fools day is a reflection of this attitude--we pull pranks and try to make our friends look silly--just for fun.

I think we all need to be fools then. To much thinking and condemnation these days.

Offerings at Christian Church's
by goofy inwhat do you think about offerings or collection plates being passed at church's?
i sometimes go to this christian church and they pass a plate.
being raised a witness, i sometimes get a weird feeling that they are doing something wrong and it bothers me?

What are your experiences of dating in the truth?
by goofy ini really never dated that much inside the orgainisation because of a lack of available brothers.
the couple of times i did not great.
i once asked a brother out and it was all over the congregation as to how inappropriate that was since it should be the man who does the asking.

Nina, that is such a nice story of how you met your husband. Irish and Italian, now that's a mix. I understand the kissing situation, lol, I never was kissed until I was 22, pretty sad, huh? But you know, you don't kiss someone you do not intend to marry. Lol

I seemed to always find the guy who would desperately want to do the deed but was to scared to make the first move. I was to shy myself. When I did start dating again in the world, my then boyfriend told me that when it came to the sexual aspects of the relationship that he felt he was back at "sweet 16" he felt it strange that a woman my age was so scared to just let loose a little. I think as women in the organization we are taught from birth to be closed off. I guess all new thoughts take time.

I have heard from Brothers that sometimes the sisters can be so desperate they are actually easier to get to than outside ladies (not all of course)
