im very upset

i know its been awhile...i dont have to much to say right now.im at a loss for words..im dissfellowshipped now..the announcement will be in 2 weeks.i just need some support..

I was 17 when I got out ( see my profile) the best advice that I can give you is go to college, even if it means getting into debt. I still owe 10K for my education but I dont regret it one bit. Going to college opens up a completely different world than the one you are used to and you will have no problems making friends, even if you had a hard time with that in high school. If you have to go to community college first that is cool. Or join the military, I have done both and I dont regret either one, although the first year in the military you will be asking yourself why the hell did I trade in one controlling institution for an even more controlling one, but it gets better, a lot better.

If you are getting df'd and your heart is not in the JW religion than dont even start the reinstatement charade. Move out as soon as you can whether it be to go to college or the military. I personally wouldnt reccommend just trying to work because without the social structure that college or military can provide for you, you might just end up being very lonely. Oh and dont think i'm being too pushy with the military thing but I think it is a great option for a young person who doesnt quite know what to do with their lives.

I used to look forward to getting new suits for every assembly and memorial, looking back though I can think of so many things I would have better spent that money on, and beleive me I could have got alot cause my parents didnt skimp on the KH clothing.

My Best Friends Still Love Me

i had a talk with my best friend (who is still an active jw) the other day, and told her that i wasn't interested in remaining an active witness any more.

i knew she would accept my feelings, because she's a wonderful person and is actually very emotionally healthy, but was afraid because i didn't really know how tight a grip the mind control had on her, and didn't know if she would feel obligated to back off in our friendship any.

i was deeply afraid of that, because we're as close, if not closer than, sisters.. to my pleasant surprise, she not only totally accepted my feelings, but she already knew what i was going to say before i said it.

I haven't posted or kept up on this board regularly in a while but I saw this thread and a few of the other ones about you and your husbands story and it is pretty amazing. I dont really have any advice but it seems like your parents are cool so things will become less and less awkward, they will still try to preach to you from time to time but as long as there is mutual respect it wont be a big deal. That is how it is with my parents. It feels pretty weird the first few months but eventually as you start to have a "regular" life, your JW life will become like a distant memory that you look back and laugh about it. My favorite threads on this board are like JW urban legends, Assembly stories, JW sayings, etc. because when you remove yourself enough from that life and disinstitutionalize yourself you see things completely differently. I would definetely reccommend going to college, I learned more at the U of Oregon than I ever learned in a JW meeting. Anyways I'm rambling but I wanted to post because your story just struck a chord with me. BTW I've lost touch with pretty much all my friends whom I grew up with mostly because I moved around so much since I left home, one didnt really want to talk with me (I could just tell) but the two that meant the most to me, although we dont talk every week by any means, if I ever feel the need to talk to them or need anything from there I know that they are there for me so it will probably be like that with your friend.

a visit home recently brought me back up against the destructiveness of the watchtower society.. far from being happy, my parents are exhaustingly sad, angry and bitter.

they spent the weekend.

chopping first at each other and then at my brother and i. how we had disappointed them.

i think my parents are genuinely happy being JW's, I think its part of what makes them blind to all the inconsistency.

farm 1974 to 1979...worked with steve watters and so many others, ...remember one big factory worker giving me some static at the table i was waiting on so i dumped the full gallon of milk on his head and cooled him off quick!

also worked nights as walking watchman, and days as moving & maintenance crewman, our crew consisted of seven guys all named "mike"...one poor watchman wasn't watching and stepped into an open elevator shaft down at the squibb bldg...used to snowboard from 124 down to squibb and at night almost ran down a couple of governing body members in the hallway from 124 to 107 on those furniture coasters...also made trash runs with "marcus stapletonius" and if anyone remembers the wierd sounds of loud toilet flushing and laughter emanating from somewhere in the towers at night, that was me and mike presutti, the dual-headed 'phantom of the towers' playing with recordings and loudspeakers out the windows.

Any cotton-pickin', finger-licken', chicken-pluckin' apple pickers remember when I was assistant Mountain Farm overseer? What about you cotton-pickin', finger-licken', chicken-pluckin' potlikkers? Steaming pots, pans and milk cans, hunting deer, raccoons, snakes + fishing (in addition to your congregation assignments, meetings and text comments, return visits, etc.? Whatever happened to Tyler Paiva? He was a worker...I left in '79 to marry a girl from my congregation in N.J. We pioneered 2 years then served as missionaries in Samoa. In 1986 I killed our fellow missionaries Ed & Cath and served over 14 years in prison...released in the 15th year. Still disfellowshipped and wife asking for divorce after 17 years...its been 23 years now and I haven't finished the papers...always busy in Samoa keeping the Airport and power plants [email protected]

Leaving the National Guard

well.... after alot of thought and consideration, i have decided to withdraw from the kansas national guard.. but, i will be going into the army as an active duty soldier instead.

i am requesting to be assinged to ft. buchannon in san juan, puerto rico (home) though its doubtful i will get that station.

either way, wherever they send me will be fine.. just thought i would keep you all up to date as to my goings on and all.
