Head covering for women--how did you feel about this? Men? Women?

thinking about how this felt awkward to some of us women when a bible student noticed something was "up" if a baptised brother sat in on a study.

Didn't read all the comments, but here it is in black & white from their own NWT (revised): 1 Cor. 11...

Judge for yourselves: Is it fitting for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? 14 Does not nature itself teach you that long hair is a dishonor to a man, 15 but if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her? For her hair is given to her instead of a covering. 16 However, if anyone wants to argue in favor of some other custom, we have no other, nor do the congregations of God.

So to cover or not to cover ? Just as Jesus did, he always answered using the scriptures...so there it is in black & white...if the sister has hair, then she don't need no headcovering...I'm just saying...

I live in NYC....take the subways every day, come to work, go home, go shopping, etc.....if worldly people were so bad, we would be stepping over dead bodies all over the place. The badge of honor is that they are associated with God's channel, so they think. I was just baptized, I was out there, but I wasn't doing anythink bad. Just because a person was out in the world doesn't mean they did dastardly deeds. Some witnesses before they got there were off the hook, no type of balance. So they feel everyone is or was like they were. As you say, keep your mouth shut...I do. I don't care if this is or isn't God channel. That's not what floats my boat. I like what I've learned in the bible. I don't swallow everything they say from the stage. If anyone is in because it's supposed to be God's channel, then you're in for the wrong reasons. If you're in to learn about the real truth, the the JW's is a good place to start. What they have done for me is to lead me to the Truth about the bible (not their truth). I don't think I'm better than anyone. I may be able to quote a scripture or two, but I'm just another human, just trying to do the right thing. The Bible is the ultimate truth....man interprets it to make you rely on him. We have to interpret it for you, otherwise, you would really have the truth, that we JW's are not the Truth. But what I find to be a stupid generalization is....We are imperfect (as they stand there with the smok'in gun). We expect the world to treat me like this but not my own brother or sister, another generalization, I hate. I have more, but don't want to hog up the website....

Pondering The Increase in Memorial Partakers

it has been discussed in other threads, but in pondering what the real reason for the increase in partakers is i have a personal theory.. this theory would naturally have to be based on ones actually believing the bible, and not just simply what the wt&t$ dictates that one must believe.. when jesus made a covenent with the apostles at the last supper to rule with him in heaven, is it possible that that covenent was with them only?

jw's will say that it also extended to all the rest of the 144,000. but nowhere is there a lliteral claim of only 144,000 in the bible.

in revelation, a book that jw's claim is filled with symbolism, that number is suddenly claimed by them to be literal.

I was at the meeting Sunday. My study conductor (got baptized, but just finishing up the last book)...I think it was the paragraph of the WT, where it mentioned that we may have noticed some or none partaking of the Bread & Wine, so she started to look up the partakers from the yr books of 2011, 2012 & 2013...she noticed the #'s were going up..I leaned over and said, what's up ? She said the #'s are going up instead of down...Now she was raised in the Truth..she looked concerned...I think TTATT, is starting to sink in...but me, I'm not saying anything. I'm just observing. This is my take on the 144,000, first of all they are undefiled by women, so that leads me to believe they are men & never married or had sex...how fitting don't you think ? That means they won't be tempted, just like the Eunuchs. If they are to be ruling with Jesus, wasn't he not defiled by women ? Don't know where that word defiled came from but that says to me, that having sex with a woman, even if it's your wife, you have been defiled....they consider sex defiling...Here is the scripture that supports: Rev.14: And they are singing what seems to be a new song+ before the throne and before the four living creatures+ and the elders,+ and no one was able to master that song except the 144,000,+ who have been bought from the earth. 4 These are the ones who did not defile themselves with women; in fact, they are virgins.+ These are the ones who keep following the Lamb no matter where he goes. So do you think that the any of the annointed that are married, will be a part of the 144,000? So to even think that a JW would be a part of that crowd...NOT...& the Org. also added a woman, than to support affirmative action, now they have black man. I think the catholic nuns have a better chance at being part of the 144,000. I will start with this...if you wish to continue, I'll wait for your reply. But I really wanted to break down the meaning of the 144,000 before we even go into why the #'s are going up.

What I'm finding is that when you repeat to JW's what they uphold, it don't sound so nice... I remember once a sister gave a comment about her long time friend & that when the sister became a sister, she had to end her friendship. Now the sister didn't say why but she had to cut the ties but she did say it was hurtful..So a sister & I was talking about it & she said, wow, she cut off her friend, how could she do that....Now don't they tell us to watch our association, so the sister did. So what I'm saying is that when someone actually said it...it hit home to some of the congregation. Many of us project of what is right & wrong until it comes in our backyard. Another story. A long time friend of mine was raised a witness, big family, many of them shunned other family members because they were not witnesses, well, another part of her family because Muslims...so the JW family complained that the Muslim side of the family won't talk to them, so my friend said, why are you complaining, didn't you do the same thing ? They make up a bunch of rules that sound real good, til it's turned back on them. Even when I go out in service, some householders say, I don't talk to witnesses, some of the friends ask why? They are told they don't associate with other religions....

Isn't revenge sweet ?

More folks who are delusional...& how can one dispute folks who think they are annointed.

The purpose of changing JW names, titles and terms

during a discussion over the weekend, we exchanged ideas about recent changes in terminology related to assembly days, conventions and new titles for the higher-ups.

i commented that for years in 'security' at larger meetings we were told to talk to any that seemed out of place and ask questions that would indicate if they were apostates - antiquated terms like 'overseer' or a reference the 'truth' book.. another in our group brought up the character in the orwell book 1984 and how his job was to separate new and approved terms from old words.

this was called doublethink and blackwhite.

I use to work for this company, that we use to be called "Employee's". Then one day, they started to call us "Associates"...At the end of the day, we were still treated like employees. That new name never was interpreted into...$$$$$, or any special privileges..... The new terms & titles are just that, new terms & titles. The org. feels that most of the flock are children, why do I say that..."Friends, in August we are going to have a new Tract which is going to direct more folks to JW.org"..isn't that some exciting news..clap clap clap...Also, we are now going to use a different type of bleach to clean our restrooms, now friends, isn't that exciting news..& isn't God org. wonderful..clap clap clap...To me it's all infantile..See how the org. numbers the pages, friends, isn't that good news ? NOT...They do these things just to pacify us...They have revised the Bible, we don't know who the FDS is anymore, 1914, well, it's the same but different..so with so many changes they have to blind side some way.

Communication & Laughter. Sex is good, but when you get old like Abraham & Sarah, & can't do it anymore...than what's left...Communication & Laughter...To say, I can't anymore or it's not working... maybe we can cuddle...That's communication....then because either of the partners can't or don't want to, that's where the laughter comes in....You have to be able to let it roll sometimes....don't take life to seriously....I know we women at times read too much into things, but when we really think about it...it's not that serious..Men are better able to say it & let it go...

The other important thing is not to let any organization tell you what should be important to you...

If you are a witness & married, their bedroom is their business, if you are single witness, your bedroom is everybody's business...I'm just saying..

Most Annoying Things That Happen At JW Meetings

today i was remembering how angry i used to get at the meetings and all the little irritations that in the end would just make my blood boil these included:.

prayers that go on foreverstudy or wt conductors still taking comments when its clear that the point has been covered 20 times alreadymeetings over running by more than 5 minsmy favourite was this one elder who would play guess the point i am thinking of.

he would keep rephrasing the question from the wt until someone would bring up the point he was thinking of.

I have another one...when someone goes up on the stage & mispronounces a word, then the entire congregation begins to say it another way. Somehow when they hear it they think that it comes from HDQ. Once a sister said "Apostule" don't you know the entire congregation started to say it, how about Baruch they say Barak, it's pronounced...Baruk....Once I was at a bible study & brought it up....they said, oh I thought it was apostule, I said no the "T" is silent...I was not talking to young ones, these folks where in there 30's. But what I notice about this generataion, they say, Man'hat'en, Mil'en which should be Manhattan, & Milton....But what made me feel good was I went to an assembly this weekend & they pronounced certain words & they were pronounced properly. So that made me feel better....Are witnesses no "Hooked On Phonics" ? But they can recite scriptures so that makes them smarter than anyone, doesn't ? NO, I'm being funny.

I don't think they would do anything, but they will see that there are some still in that don't drink the kool-aide, and that how much they are like communism. They know yet they don't know. To see it in black & white to see the comparision to other religions to JW's....What I don't think they do know is that active members are suppressing what they really feel....I think it would start them to scramble & try to wiggle out of it...that's the show I'm waiting for. That they even rec'd the print-out...they can't say where they got it from, but they will react. That's like being somewhere you're not supposed to be & another witness can't say they saw you...because they were there too. It would be interesting to see them ...squirm just a little. To have them know that most witnesses are afraid of them, not God...& how many don't think that it's God's org..& the explanations that go with that..to make them think, hey, the friends are going for it...what will we do & say now...

Well, it was a thought anyway....but one thing is for sure, they will in there quiet moments say, wow not all are apostate...A sister at the hall said (before I joined) that not to believe the web-sites, because they don't tell the truth....her answer was..."THEY CAN'T ALL BE LYING"...BAADDA BING..

To me this is the only way they would know what the majority thinks. They won't do nothing about it but they will NOW know. It may make them think, it may not, but for darn sure, they will know....
