Hi,
My all time favorite question:
Would you still be a witness if the GB's said, well we really tried to be God's mouthpiece, but.....we are not....so the question to you would be, would you stay if this wasn't God's organization ?

why did you get baptized?.
what do you think they would reply?.
because it is the truth!

in 1. samuel 15:2-3 we read jehovah's order to kill "all" amalekites.
it says "you are to put them to death, man as well as woman, child as well as infant...".

Hi,
I don't know who wrote a comment about, maybe the God of the bible is not really God. It could be man just scaring folks to be good because if you don't he'll get you... "I believe in god, but I believe he is much different than the bible describes him / her / it. I also believe he created the natural laws in a way that life can evolve (theistic evolution)" This is was one of the comments that I think is more accurate....I think the main purpose of what God really wanted was True worship to only him...not idols, not crosses, saints, etc. Just him...give him all the glory...he created all things...so if you created all things, humans, air, food, etc., wouldn't you want your props...imagine, you built a house, built the furniture, worked the land to build the house...& you did it all alone...how would you feel if someone came along & said....John built the house & all the other stuff, but I'm going to give the credit to someone else..Now aren't we made in the image of God & don't we get angry & jealous when we don't get the credit...now I'm not saying we go around killing folks, but I'm just saying.
It all started with that Adam & Eve.....the word kill wouldn't even exist in our vocabulary...it's all too confusing.....we shouldn't kill even if we have a reason but God can, cuz he is the reason...

Hi,
This is what I think...God was doing what he was doing in the OT...because his son Jesus wasn't born as of yet, but he was in heaven with them...Jesus was in the making....learning, watching & studying with Jehovah. Now follow me... do any of you ever notice folks before they had kids...they have no empathy for anything, why can't you work late, if I were you, I would....all these comments they would say. Then one day they become parents, & they are a different folks, all warm & fuzzy...understand things they never did, they see life differently...Now let's talk about God, maybe he was more strict before his son came to earth..maybe by Jesus coming to earth softened God's heart...The birth of a child does change a parent.....God watched his son grow up on earth...now what Jesus was doing while he was in heaven before his birth, who knows...maybe he was saying Father, when I go to earth are you going to kill all them folks while I'm down there...& God says...NO, I'm going to allow you to be killed, but don't worry Son...I promise to bring you back...or maybe all those years, Jesus was pleading mankinds case to save them, but God said, not yet ....your time is coming..Just a crazy thought I had one day. I have read the OT....I think it's consequences of not listening to him...& we all do have to remember....He did warn folks...turn away from other gods, stop sacrificing your children....blah blah blah....but they didn't listen. Justice & Justification are two different things. So I won't say it's justice or justification, but it is sad to hear how so many were killed...& if the children were kept alive would they suffer from the loss of their parents, would the Jews adopt them & raise them, would the children grow up to continue what Jehovah hated...who knows...it's no different now, kids today are targets, they can't go to school with the fear of someone going off, can't ride in the elevator, go to the store, stand outstide...we are killing our own kids...we neglect them too...we talk on our cell phones all day long even when we are with our chidren, we keep them so busy by taking them to so many activities that they don't know whether they are coming or going....it's the quality of time we give them not the quantity. We give them so many things instead of love, because most of our jobs are so demanding we don't get time with our children, yet when we do, again we are on our cells, Facebook, activities...so there are more ways to kill & sacrifice our children....WE JUST PLAIN NEGLECT THEM...maybe in the OT we can blame God, but now the finger points at us.

they seriously look like cultists.
it is embarrassing..
Hi,
Remember the movie with Cher & Nicholas Cage, where she slapped him & said..."SNAP OUT OF IT"... I wouldn't slap them but that's what I would love to say....Or the other "One Thing"...."This is not God's organization or his mouthpiece" he is just allowing the preaching work to go on just like he has allowed the catholic religion to go on as well, even after the scandals....I think the only thing that would take a witness down to their knees is that they think this is God's organization & anyone were to prove it....it wouldn't be a pretty picture...that's what most witnesses cling to...

my mom used to throw a paper napkin on her head when forcing us to study after i was baptised.
i've seen scarves, and shawls, and a very few hats.. isn't using a napkin on your head just the same as not bothering?
what a dumb rule too.
Hi All,
I think this was a topic once before...See 1 Cor. 11:15: 15 but if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her? For her hair is given to her instead of a covering. 16 However, if anyone wants to argue in favor of some other custom, we have no other, nor do the congregations of God. So from this scripture, what do we gather....ummm, that maybe if a woman has long hair, then that may serve as a headcovering ? & verse 16 brings out...it shouldn't be a debate or rather written in stone. Maybe it could be a choice of the woman. Opinions anyone ?

chronic fatigue syndrome refers to severe, continued tiredness that is not relieved by rest and is not directly caused by other medical conditions.. did you have many congregation members, particularly pioneers, that said they had " chronic fatigue syndrome" ?.
that's their "get-out-of-jail-free card.
" they were free to cancel anything at anytime and it was their legitimate reason for not doing anything that didn't involve field recruiting.
Hi All,
I think what the commenter was trying to bring out is that has anyone noticed how in the JW org. there are alot of sick folks. Yes, some are really sick but some aren't. They were just asking if this was common in their hall now or when they were there ? I have IBS, Lactose Intolerant, & Allergies... I keep it moving as much as possible. Some days are worse than others but I don't use them as a badge of honor or to get out of something. I suppress alot of the information the JW's feed, but I come here to vent it out....That's the key to let it out in a safe place. This site is safe...just as long as you use an alias or that you don't describe an incident from your hall or mention names. Because you don't know who may be on this site, just checking so they can make some brownie points with the elders. None of us are saying, that all JW's are fakers, but we agree that there are some. Some play it to the end. As they say milking it.
Many of us have illnesses but don't use them to get out of our responsibility. But sometimes you do have to use your sick card....we all do.

Hi NonJWSpouse,
What I'm finding out many of the witnesses didn't really have a normal upbringing. There were some quirks. Nobody has a normal upbringing, but if you talk to some of them, things just don't seem right. I spoke to a sister about my upbringing & she said, I'm much different from many witnesses & I was fortunate...Now for me, everyone I grew up with had the same upbringing I did. Again, I think it's a place for those who want to belong & are needy. I find myself to be an open witness. I listen & don't judge...I may notice something & even comment on it, but not enough to judge anyone, because I'm no better than anyone else. I don't even look at other religions & judge them because I don't want to be judged for being a witness. This was my choice, I like it, but don't agree with everything they say, & I don't mention it...I just say, I don't understand it...that way, they leave me alone.
What makes folks join...well, just imagine....we knock on doors....we don't know who is behind these doors, some folks keep to themselves because they may be mental, abused, whatever...now, let's say, most of the time some of these folks never open the door, but one day, there is a knock on the door...you have issues, but today, you may have taken your meds or just plain lonely, because that person may have isolated themselves for whatever reason. Some folks have even chased folks away because they are always complaining about this illness or another. So again, there is a knock on the door, & someone ask you ...Have you heard the good news...that person is so happy to hear a knock at the door....Bingo...they have found another convert...Crazy as cat crap...but that's what happens when you go out in service, you are libel to attract anyone..but most likely the ones we attract are birds of a feather...there is definitely a common denominator...Haven't identified it as of yet, but what one thing that comes to mind, illness & shinning...
Hope we get to talk again,

Hi,
Meant to say, in Psalms 119 on the top of the page it says...Psalm no "S".
Thx,

Hi,
Well if if it's not being negligent...go to JW.org....it says Psalms on all the chapters..if Psalm is just for one Psalm, not many verses but just one, why in the revised NWT, in Psalms 119 (which we know to be several verses) on the top of the page it says Psalms. The book should reflect the website. I think it's an oversight. And again, if you look at our previous NWT, all the pages at the top say: PSALMS...one verse or several. This is just something I noticed, I'm not knit picking, just more proof, they are imperfect, just like anyone else...& anyone can mispell. Although, I'm wondering why nobody ever saw it...
