That happened to me and my brother in law once over some now almost forgotten incident. My then-wife drove in between us finally and I had an elder come to talk to me about love, a little later. Oh fond memories! It was like the Wild West.
my mother called me last night an begged me to go to the meeting tomarrow.
she has asked me to go numerous times during the last year,and i have made excuses everytime of why i can't attend.
last night she begged so i'm thinking that theres either a local needs talk that she wants me to hear or its the co visit.

I don't know if this will help but whenever I have to go some place I dont like (especially a boring place), i just look around and imageine everyone else in the room is naked. for some reason the time flies by. And then the mandetory elder comes grinning to say "We missedcha around here SISTER!" just think of some floppy hairy smiling naked man walking up to touch your hand.

i hope that saddam uses his hidden wmd's.
i hope even more that they're used ineffectively and no one gets hurt, contaminated, or killed.
but i try and imagine this guy facing the loss of it all, his own country and life included, why wouldn't he make the biggest mess he can before departure?
Think for just a moment what the exposure of those WMD would do. Even terrorists would have to say, "Oh man, that hurts."
WMD's sometimes achieve their goal, sometimes they don't. The nuclear hits on Japan in 1945 were very effective. The price for victory of course will be debated for hundreds of years. Iraq's use of gas warfare in the war with Iran on the other hand didn't not allow his army to beat Iran.
Personally, I think tactical nukes might/should have been used at Tora Bora. Not because of their fear factor but because they do their job better then the conventional munitions that were used. I am against war. It should always be the last alternative, but once war is engaged, I am for using any and all means however brutal to achieve victory at the least expense to my own countrymen's lives.
Use of any WMD, however, probably wont scare terrorists into some sort of submission. At best if would cause them to alter their strategy a great deal.
i assume a high percentage of those that post & read posts here are either still witnesses, disfellowshipped, disassociated, or just drifted away from the organization.
i'm sure many of us remember well the beliefs of the wts about the scenario leading up to armageddon & i wonder how many of us still think about that kind of thing.
i recall the idea that there would be a declaration of peace & security & every time i hear a political leader or un leader use terms like that my ears perk up.

a lot of peace would have to break out to make anyone really believe and end to Saddam would mean peace and security.

If the bombs did kill Saddam, his location must have been pointed out by someone close to the top. It was important enough information that the US had to alter their entire war plan just to take advantage of the situation.
Possibly the informer was a general bent on taking over in order to stop the war. I dont think Saddam's sons have enough support to survive a coup attempt, esp. Uday. Just my thoughts on it.

About the strangest thing I saw was an Elder with a monobrow who had serious issues.
One night during a study of the Evolution book he demonstrated that he wass convinced that Humans and Pigs could produce offspring together. For some reason we went off a tangent on this at a bookstudy. He had a college degree so the R&F thought he was some sort of genius. Anyway this pompous ass starts saying there is a state statute that all children born of a union between pigs and humans had to be destroyed at birth. And he was very adamant that this was the proper thing to do.
The REALLY wierd part was when a lot of people started nodding up and down. Damn Right! You cant suffer a pig baby in this neck of the woods! Finally some older sister said that in her apartment block a woman had given birth to a baby with the face of a big and that "people from the government" came and took it away. I could have stepped in for the sake of reason and science, but it was just too damn funny to interrupt. Finally my mother (YAY MOM!) stood up and told the elder she couldnt let that pass, and that it was just scientifically impossible. He gave her a condescending look and said "Well none of us can claim to know everything." Still, he felt that abominations like that would have to be destroyed.
I remember the guy went to a costume party when he was younger and caused some sort of scandle because he dressed as a cowboy, but wore what appeared to be a real colt peacemaker on his belt.
Later in his elder career he gave a long winded talkwhich kept referring to some bible verse which said something to the effect of a man "shall be made holy in his organism". This dude kept saying "Holy in his Orgasm" over and over again. No one ever told him any different, unless maybe his wife did.

There is NEVER a good reason for a terrorist attack. There MAY be at times good reasons for attacking those higher in power, however, by other means (including armed uprisings).

Honest knowledge and love of the being itself. Mindfullness but at the same time being compassionate and not uptight about things which are beyond one's control. And decent shoes. Very important, that last part.
