I think he said something about virgins needing oil on their wedding night. While this is not really bad advice, something more water soluble like KY jelly might be in order.

Submitting a DA letter and walking away?
by Jourles ini have been perusing through the many boe documents i have recently received and noticed something interesting.
regarding ones who disassociate themselves, there have been many discussions on this board where people tell others not write a letter as you are giving away any legal footing you may have against the society.
well, it appears that there are two routes you can take without officially getting da'd, according to the society's own documents.

Actually this is exactly what I did. I wrote a letter to my old congregation (in another city) stating that I did not wish to have any connection with the religion known as Jehovah's Witneses, nor with the Watchtower corporation. I forgot to sign it. Months later they replied asking me to sign the letter. Still, as far as I know, I am DA'd.

on a slightly off-note, has the Society ever used the phrases "God of Our Heart" or "God of your Heart?"
just curious.

I have a religion, of sorts, so the question is probably best not answered by me.
But I am kinda bored, so I will.
I do teach my children some things about spirituality, but not dogmatic. Mostly the need to know the general facets of morality. Killing bad, sharing good, that sort of thing. As they have questions I will try to answer them. On the other hand I have no goal of raising them in a particular religion. I've seen where that leads.

Witness at new job
by berylblue ini was in a team meeting today at work with a man who is a jw.
i found out because i heard someone say he doesn't celebrate birthdays; i kept my eyes open and of course, in his desk drawer was "examining the scriptures".
well, at the meeting, one of my coworkers said, "i have four children, two girls, a boy and my husband".. he blurts out, "that's not funny.

The Jew's land claim is some flimsy wording in a several thousand year old collection of myths, which probably came from earlier stories passed down by storytellers. And you call this a valid claim?
The Roman's called the area Palestine. As in Phillistine. Not Iudea. The Jews were just another group (and not a very highly regarded one) that lived there. But fine.. take the bible's word for it.. it basically admits the Isrealites commited genocide to get control of the Levant.
The Palestinians have been in Isreal for thousands of years. Even the Byzantine Empire and the Crusader states did not try to cast them out as readilly as the fascist Isrealis want to do.
The fact is Isreal was not a country without a people for a people without a country. It's occupied territory run by a bunch of deluded zionists. Without the aid and assistance of powerful Zionists elsewhere in the world, there would be no Isreal. A lot of Romany claim to be of Egyptian descent.. why not hand them over Egypt, create a gypsy state, and perpetuate more myth based nations.
