I'm DA'd. Been moved out of town where I went to the hall for years, so I doubt I'll run into other folks I used to know who were DF'd or DA'd, unless its on this board.

Are DF'd ones in your congregation friendly with you?
by JH inwhen i was an active jw, everyone talked to me.
when some were df'd, they avoided me, not to be shunned.
now that i'm out of the org, "inactive since so many years", whenever i meet df'd people, they won't talk to me much.

What do you think of Baha'i Faith?
by Eyebrow2 injust a little curious....i had gone to one of the websites i found by searching baha'i faith online.. i found a site that wrote on 9/12/01 saying:.
the destruction of the trade towers and the attack on the pentagon and its related events should be considered a terrible warning for the safety, security and salvation of humankind.. the second international baha'i council condemns the use of terrorism and violence as a means of change, but we have tried to warn the people of new york for years of these coming disasters, accurately predicting on national television the first act of terrorism against the trade towers in february of 1993. these acts of horrific destruction are only the beginning if the governments and peoples of the world do not submit to the authority of god and his messengers and their clear and evident proofs.. what is up with that???
i know nothing really about it so i figured i would pose the question on this board: is this religion a bit fanatical?

exactly. As it is said in the Vedas, "Truth is one, sages know it by many names." I think to often every one of us have this urge to dwell on the minor details, missing the woods for the trees as they say.

True ecumenalism does require a certain (if unspoke) acknowledgement that there are elements that are wrong in all religions, but that these are not as important (or eternal) as the underlying truths.
my $.02 on that issue.

Most Annoying "Kingdom song?"
by doodle-v inwhat's a kingdom song you can remember singing that gives you the creeps now?
mine is "move ahead" i think that was the title, anyway it has so much rhetoric... but the tune is so darn catchy.... darn.... in my opinion, those songs are the perfect example of mind control.
move ahead.. move ahead ... blah blah blah blah blah .

improper conduct
by zev indoubtless many of us have been to assemblies, and every may the km would come out with an insert about what you were expected to do and how to act.. reviewing the km's over the years , you can see the negative positve "councel".
how to dress, how to act, howt to tip!.
after reading this, doesn't it just want to make you run to attend the next d.c. ?

DC's were all about sex-drive when you were a teen. I remember one DC, I was 15 and looked a little older then my age (but not much, probably). I changed into regular clothes after the session and waited till my folks went to sleep. There was a night-club in the hotel and somehow I managed to get in and danced for awhile with some drunken broad in her forties (who was actually pretty hot as I recall and who probably didn't remember any of it the next day..hmm maybe she was a witness too). I can't remember any of the spititual pabulum we were spooned out at that convention, but I DO remember the lady in the black evening dress. So I guess I can thank the watchtower for somethin.

About the Flag or National Anthem
by pr_capone ini promise that i am not turning into the next minimus with all the damn questions but this is something i have been thinking quite a bit about lately.. as i grew up in the troof... i almost despised it.
what it "stood for".
and the fact that people would "worship" it.

does non of you find nationalism and national pride a little troublesome?
Yes. Sometimes it is just a cult of the state. I see too often now that people are willing to forgo their own conscience and reason in the name of patriotism, when a democracy demands the exact opposite to work well. Then again, I have this feeling that we are heading into another age of facism. If so my flag will be:
