"Sister, I'm gonna smurf you up your smuf and then smurf all over your smurfs" -an enraged enchanted elder from the platform, magically turned into a smurf because kid brought in a Gargamel toy to the Hall.
Actually I think the urban JW legend goes that a toddler brought a papa smurf doll who stood up in the middle of the meeting, and announced "I'm sick of this shit" and walked out." Well, he's not dim.
The other one I remember, and this one was told around the hall by a woman that was wacko, was that a kid had smurf curtains, and one day the parents came into the room and the smurfs were doing a pagan dance around the kids bed.

The Memorial: Blasphemy or Monty Python Sketch?
by metatron insoon the special night will be upon us, when millions of jehovah's witnesses.
will gather together for the sacred purpose of merely passing around the emblems.
of christian salvation and rejecting them.. this event proves to me that anything, no matter how silly, will be treated solemnly.

Leolaia,
They can do that, but at the risk of loosing the mystique that creates the hierarchy. Were the Pope to say "Hey, I'm just another guy." it would be an invitation to schism. There would be no need for the College of Cardinals, and the Archbishoprics could do as they wished until some more modern arrangement could be worked up. But the Church knows that, and the Pope remains officially infallable.
Likewise even though we know (and those still inside ultimately know) that the Governing Body no longer really controls affairs, writes articles, etc., the fact that they still exist, this idea they there are heavenly kings-to-be in charge up in New York, is now the keystone the opens the jaws of the faithful so that Watchtower raw sewage can be ladled down their throats. Take that away, and all hell breaks loose. Doubt and talking about doubt spread exponentially, and before long you have entire Branch Offices questioning edicts from Bethel. The Witnesses as a religion are really living on borrowed time now.

He is the Bill Gates of Gods. He will tolerate no rival, even if they are better then him. If he can't beat them, he'll put on a facade of some of their better qualities and assimilate their followers. Whatever works.

Englishman,
I have wondered about this. I saw it done once and it shocked me, and also my mom. My dad, who was an elder, did not comment on it. We were travelling and had to go to the memorial out of town so we did not know what went on. In the congregations I used to go to, the plate was definately passed to disfellowshipped persons. Is there some instruction regarding this in Sheperd The Flock book? I used to have the Shepherd book's predesess.. a terrifying little booklet called Kingdom Service Questions, and I don't regard reading it there. (finding KSQ was what got me disenchanted with the borg.)

It's important how you accent it too.
For Example.
Mom or Dad is mad at you: Ja ho' vah' knows what you did, son!
Saying a prayer: Jah' hova God, we come before you in blah blah blah
Yelling It in the Heat of Passion During Sex: Oh Jahooooooooovahhhh!
Cussing: What the Je ho vah' did you do to my car?

George Washington would likely be considered today, to be a pot-smoking alcoholic immoral terrorist. And a bad general to boot. And yet he, Jefferson, Franklin, and other quioxtic founding fathers have a hell of a lot of the framework of the present world (and no, I am not trying to be american-centric), on their shoulders. All of them ultimately deists, though they gave the occasional nod towards Christanity. Washington in particualr did not seem like using the word God. In many of his letters and speeches he preferred to speak of "Provenance." The people believed in what they were doing, and were mostly playing without rulebook to guide them. In that regard considering (after the Articles failed), that the US has maintained the same government for over two-hundred years, with only 27 amendments added (and one of those was to repeal a previous one). Not bad. Hopefully our current schmuck in office won't screw up a good thing.
Carmel, I agree with what you said about American Indians. The framers were well aware especially of the Iroquiois Confederation's government framework.
To me the fundie opinion that the founders wantd a Christian nation is just more reactionary wishful thinking. Put a modern fundie back in Boston 1776, and he's far more likely to have been a Tory then a Patriot.
Tar-n-Feather 'em.

I find sometimes that catching these bits and pieces (or giving them), makes us more of a community. Natural flow of learning one another.
