i always thought jws became jws bc they were just too afraid to face death.
there are worse things.
i wonder where james thomas is. he would have some words of wisdom to impart i am sure.

I dont want to face death
by LovesDubs ini just heard that two of the fathers of childhood friends of mine, one of them the first boy i ever loved, and the other the head of a good catholic family with eight kids who lived across the street from us, died within days of each other.
im my mind, those families are frozen in time about 35 years ago when i last saw any of them, and i couldnt conceive of them being gone.. i dont know why but those two men being gone really got to me.
i wasnt close to them or anything but it brought home the very real thought that my own parents are going to go soon...and leave me and my two sibs on the planet to carry on.

What's the BIGGEST LIE you ever heard?
by nicolaou in.
someone i knew stood up at the convention to answer her two baptism questions both with a "yes".
she was having an affair with a married brother at the time.. but i'd top my 'biggest lie' list with four small words; "in the beginning, god"

The Next Top Apostate!
by Swan inmouthy is one of the coolest people on this board.
she has also been out of the jws far longer than most of us.. but with mouthy leaving, who will be our next top apostate?
duties: keep the seat warm until mouthy comes back.

i da'd in '76. but i certainly don't feel like top apostate. that honor must go to someone who has been plugged in the whole time. i hadn't talked to another xjw until 2003 when i came onto this board. (hi bebu)

Did you make life altering decisions because of 1975?
by restrangled ini had extended family members, both with families of 7, abandon good jobs and homes in the suburbs of chicago.
they moved to the wild outskirts of 2 separate states to protect their families from armageddon.
they both waited for 20 years, wound up financially destitute and finally had to move and depend on other family members to recover.. it would be interesting to read the stories from those of you who went through this time period as a jw.. r.

JonBenet Ramsey's Mother Dies
by Mary in.
i was really shocked to see this headline this morning....patsy ramsey died this morning at the age of 49 of ovarian cancer....i always wondered what happened there; whether she and her husband actually killed their daughter, or if someone else broke into the house and murdered her.......while family members are always high on the list of suspects when something like this happens, i tend to think that john and patsy ramsey were falsely accused of murdering their daughter, as there appeared to be no motive.
anyone think they did kill her?

yes about the beauty pageant thing. and i certainly don't agree with it and it seems really inappropriate for a child to be involved in this stuff.....i hate it......that being said, patsy ramsey was a veteran beauty pageant participant herself from a very young age. was miss (virginia i think?) and came from that background.....and that southern belle culture. so to her it probably seemed very normal and something good she was doing for her child.

slip of the tongue of elder
by DannyBloem in.
this morning the speaker was late and they had to change the wachtower study with the public talk.. the young elder introducing this, was maybe a bit nervous of this happening (although it is certainly not the first time this year), and told that the public intercourse of the wachttower study would be held first, instead of the public discourse.

these are so funny. we used to have a brother who would say stuff like this all the time.....and he was the theocratic ministry school servant!

Comments You Will Not Hear at the 6-25-06 WT Study (Survival)
by blondie inwho do the sons and daughter-in-laws represent (did they have children before the flood)?.
what does the ark represent?.
(2 peter 2:5) the true god gave righteous noah explicit instructions on how to build an ark for the preservation of life through a global flood.

thanks again, blondie. it is amazing that when they mention the ransom sacrifice of Jesus Christ it is usually just an aside. i did not remember that the l44,000 was referred to as "The Christ". amazing. what twisting they do.
