  Need Support Tonight

  i feel so alone tonight.

  i thought i'd get on here and find some support.

  my husband and i got into a fight last night.

  hi charmed,

  im sure your husband does not think you will go back to the cult. im sure he knows better. he probably just made this remark in a moment of anger without really thinking it through. im glad he apologized. hopefully he was sincere, you can accept this apology and move on.

  it seems to me that there is an issue of what the proper role of a wife is -- since you at one time told him you wanted to be submissive, he may be reacting if he perceives that you now want to change the "rules". you need to find out exactly what you are feeling and then communicate. talking it out will make both of you feel better.

  unless this remark becomes a repeated pattern, it is not even a blip on the radar. you will get through it.

  Ive been asked to do a talk for a born-again church...

  i could do with some advice.. my uncle is a born-again and attends a church in liverpool and has asked me to give an hours talk on 'how to answer jehovah's witnesses' basically to help his churches members talk to witnesses on the when they come to their doors.. i have most of the info off freeminds and jw files, and was wondering what you all thought would be the best subjects to approach, the easiest to explain and the most effective for making jw's think after being questioned on it.. appreciate your comments..

  i think it is really important for you to discuss the "faithful and discreet slave", interpreted by jws to be the governing body, and how it is necessary to accept all of the "food at the proper time" for jws to remain in good standing.

  then tell of some of the teachings of this faithful and discreet slave, the doctrinal changes, the denials, the refusals to take responsibility for error or wrongdoing within the fold.

  if you can poke holes in the fds the whole house of cards comes tumbling down.

  a singles site would be great and im sure very much appreciated.

  i can vouch for the fact that you really can meet someone of quality, as that is how i met my husband! (current) he was not xjw, but a disillusioned catholic who at one time studied to be a priest. so although our backgrounds were different, they were also the same in many ways. we could certainly understand the religious baggage we each carried.

  if i were single and looking i would do it again in a heartbeat.

  thank you mouthy & dj. your reasoning makes sense to me.

  the pastor of the church i attend says there is no need for me to be rebaptized as long i was baptized in the name of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit. well i was baptized by jws in l959, long before baptismal vows were changed, but somehow i don't think i was truly baptized in the true Christian sense. as you can see this is on my mind......

  mouthy, it is nice that you responded to me. little by little i will learn your story.

  dj, what can i say? thanks as always for your input.....and by the way, what are you doing here?? (not a complaint - glad that you are).

  Flashbacks of JW frustration...

  this post is going to be somewhat disconnected, my apologies.... for the first time in a long while, i'm really mad at this organzition.

  you know, i had lost a lot of my "bitterness" a few months ago when i started to absorb myself in other activities.

  lately, i feel like i've had a "delayed reaction" of sorts when it comes to my association with the jws.

  sometimes it's just a matter of pushing ourselves out of our comfort zone and taking the initiative. at kh it is usually easy to make social contacts, everyone is vested in making people feel comfortable so that they will stay.

  you are in college. there must be others there with whom you can make a connection. invite someone out for coffee. find a study/buddy. be friendly and people will respond.

  there are many churches where you can find social contact. it may take some searching around but they are there. tell people what you have been through. they will be interested.

  write a personal ad. (you can write an ad to meet friends as opposed to love or sex - although you may find that too - it is the way my husband and i met). find a way to meet new people.

  come here when you need exjw support. goodness knows we have all been through the same things.

  smile at the strangers you pass. say hello. the world is full of good, friendly, compassionate people who only want an excuse to get to know you.

  ok with the death of nina simone today at 70, i got to thinking about other great artists who have died.

  many would say elvis, but he wouldn't feature if i had to pick just 3. mine would go something like this.

  3. tammy wynette (stand by your man was a song that'll always remind me of my grandad who died 10 years ago, always makes me smile and remember him, and her collaboration with the klf circa 1992. justified and ancient.

  Why Catholics?

  just a question about the vitriol aimed at the catholic church from the wtbs- .

  i understand (but disagree) with the "doctrinal" aspect of the attacks leveled at the catholic church by the wtbs - it's the great harlot, etc.

  i'm more interested in getting to the bottom of the real reason they target catholics so strongly.

  catholicism is just an easy target - so many of its teachings are obviously unscriptural.
