Sincere Question to Anyone who Believes in God
by Big Tex inlately it's occurred to me that one day i will die.
being raised in a cult that teaches you, you will live forever without dying will warp perspectives.
and i've been working hard on coming to terms with that realization, and it's becoming more and more okay.

hi--
i (i think you asked me a question earlier). fair enough. i don't know. if we knew that answer i guess we would have the problem solved! why? why? why? why was my father teetotaler and my uncle alcoholic? why was my mother self-absorbed, my aunt a giver? why do some resolve to be the opposite of what they were exposed to and others get right down and dirty into it? maybe something to do with birth order?
i don't know.
i will just say i am glad for you and all of us that you made the choice that you did. i don't know, but maybe it was providence. maybe the end result will be worth everything that comes before.
let's hope.
this has been a great thread. thanks.
best wishes, nowisee -

just curious..... despite your feelings of unworthiness, and in view of your history, why do you suppose YOU are so full of love and compassion??

Anybody attended the Memorial last night? What was your experience?
by Cindi_67 infor the first time in a year i set foot on a kh.
the memorial to me is still somewhat sacred so i decided to attend.
i thought i would feel different, in the sense that maybe i would miss meetings, but i was wrong.

i believe the last year i attended was 1976. what cracks me up is that my current husband (who is non-practicing catholic who once studied for the priesthood) always, when talking to others about jws, tells them that jws believe that only 125 people are going to heaven.

Need Some Education On EVOLUTION? Start Here! Perry & Axal take note!
by Seeker4 inperry started a thread on evolution/atheism, which from his very first post showed an incredible ignorance of evolution and natural selection.
axal's comments on the thread were just asinine - how all the atheists in his area were at the strip clubs fighting over women and fornicating!
i have to say that i live in a small town and have been here for half a century, and i couldn't name five people that i know here who are atheist.

hi -- i have skimmed this thread.... if it hasn't been mentioned, i would just like to recommend, "the language of God" by Francis Collins, the head of the human genome project, a wonderful book. he seems to tie in both sides of this issue. best wishes to all, nowisee
