Musings about different types of atheist!
by Seraphim23 ina thought that occurs to me is that if one has the belief that all that is real is only explicable in terms of particles and forces, and that nothing exists that is not one of these, then good and bad doesnt exist either, the same would be true for any concept for that matter.
or perhaps it is only true when reduced to the level of matter and forces, but without the moral force, meaning and purpose that such a materialist only description would entail.
after all, if death is forever, which is materialist view, then what does it matter if a seventy or seven year old enters the grave?

Sigh... I was avoiding looking at this thread cuz I knew the kind of ignorance that was likely to bube expressed here. And sure enough the very first post just recycled memorized lines from theist one liners etc. No way im going to read any more. But ill just address one of the most common lies told about atheists. Atheists just believe in chemicals and cells and matter and nothing else and thats aall there is ...
Now I am not an atheist anymore but I believe like one still. Just because we cant see or measure something does not mean we have no imagination as to what else mkght be out there including what you might call god or spirits. We just dont have evidence of those things yet. So they remain as musings unti we have personal evidence of them. And this is how everyone should be. Its not that we say no evidence no existence. Rather ee say no evidence - we dont know then. We dont believe there is no god. We just dont belive there is one based on zero registered readings on any kind of sense. We as a race litrrally have no knowledge of god. Jjust stories and imagination. Ill sdd that I ude entheogens that give me experiences of a spiritual sort but that is no reason for anyone else to believe. Ayauasca. Daime. D m t. L s d. And markjuana and svia divinorum have given me wonderful experiences and I recommend them to all god. Searchers.
Another thing is that since things dont have intrinsic meankng (things read nouns) no life does not have any meaning but what yiu give it. Therefore if you say life is meaningless just because there is no god and no afterlife well. Thats on jyou buddy. Meaning comes from people not things. Meaning is ascribed to and apied to it isnt sitting I side of things like words and pictures and snow globes saying *hey my name is meaning. Look at me!"

Since ive been attending churches I have been shocmsd to find how many denominations belive life eternal in physical boxies right here on earth. Im not sure I agree it is a majority but it is very common. I dlnt know shy jws are golx they are the only ones that believe the paradkse earth thing. But my question is:is paradise a metaphor for heaven lr is heaven a metaphor for paradise?

One of. The first actions I ever took on my way out was call why 1914' I had many great conversations with Marilgn. She had a very motherly way about her. She encohraged me to go out there and live life. And I took that advice. Thank you Marilyn and God bless you.

It is simply not accurate to say jws are unique in preaching and in not going to war. The quaker church I attend has a dynamic and expansive preaching and teaching work. It jusr doesn't look the same as the obvious door to door and street preaching of jws. The friends church (quakers) sometimes take walks around the neighborhood as a group and strike up conversations with the neighbors. They get to know them and ask if they have any needs that they can help with. They subtly work in a spiritual conversation but it is done delicately. They are always coming up with new and unique ways to preach but the concentration is on being friendly and helpful. They send missionaries all over the world. And they are pacifists and many of them have gone to prison for their stand.
And this is just one example. Really most churches are not gung ho for war. They just dont kick their members out for joining. Individual consciences come into play however. And after all we do have to defend ourselves if we are attacked so we might as well be good at it and practice for different scenarios and be ready. Yahweh is one of the most blood thirsty war mkngering character ever invented so lets not pretend he doesnt enjoy a nice bloody battle. So the facts really do show that preaching and peace are viewed as virtuous behabiors in christendom and most religions.

I could never stomach a hypocrite. But it never played much of a part in my leaving. It was the truth no matter how bad the people are. That reasoning covered all sin even if every member was adolf hitler. But I sure hated the hypocrites and still take great pleasure in holding them to the fire.

i am nowhere near capable of putting this together but i'd like to propose the largest assembly of exjws ever on october 1st 2014. can it be done?
am i the first to bring this up?

Well I love the idea of mass walkouts at assemblies. I have suggested it many times on this site and have offered to take care of all the details and expenses in making it happen. I put my number on this site, requested that people pm me to meet , plan and execute. Ive offered eternal life, endless riches and a hand job and never once got a single pm to even TALK about it, let alone actually plan. In fact if I am knvolved in a project that is a bad sign. So maybe ill say I wont have any part of this terrible idea and it might have a.chance.
