  Is this the true meaning of worship?

  the expression "to worship" is defined in a dictionary this way: "to regard with great, even extravagant respect, honor, or devotion.

  " *who should be given such worship?

  jesus christ said: "you must love jehovah your god with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.

  Yes, the verse following "love the Lord your God with all your heart.." is "and love your neighbor as yourself." It naturally follows that if you love God with all your heart, you will see yourself and your neighbor as both loved by God, and that acts of kindness toward him/her is also a kindness toward yourself. ("It is more blessed to give than to receive.") Likewise, it naturally follows that if you have faith, works will alwasy be an outcome. What crude sleight of hand to go from "loving God with all your heart", to "faith without works", to arrive at doorknocking!

  The pharisees argued that tithing on everything and fasting 2x a week is worship but Jesus refused that kind of definition--straining the gnat and swallowing the camel, he called it.

  There Is Still Hope

  I used to wonder a lot why "hope" was such a big deal (you know, as in 1 Cor 13 which says there are 3 things that last: faith, hope, and love...) But I can very, very honestly say I finally understood how valuable hope is thru various tragedies and especially when looking toward a very bleak future (my own, or society's... real or imagined). Hope is a gift, a valuable gift.

  How good to see that bleak predictions are not a guarantee of how the future really plays. How good to see that windows have opened for you, even though a door was shut.

  Also, big congrats on going to college!

  Shunned? You are better off....

  i have to tell you that if you are currently shunned, although it may be painful....you are actually better off imo.

  having had it both ways now, i am convinced that it was less painful than being halfway accepted (as i am now because my dad is sick).

  my conscience is clear and it feels so good but at the same time i am in more pain than when i was shunned.

  I reread my post, and thought, "oh, I didn't mean to imply that Christ's paths are burdensome!" It's just that it's really that suffering makes love perfect, and somehow in that eye of the storm, when we get driven further down than before, we discover he is there with us in that pain in a deeper way. But you are aware of this situation, and I know you have had this experience; I'm merely preaching to the choir.

  You have such a great attitude, DJ. Thanks for all your good posts; I really enjoy them.

  Obviously you love your dad. What you are willing to endure for someone demonstrates what they are worth to you: Your dad is worth all of this suffering, and I know that one day you'll be beyond this time of turmoil and agree that, given the choice again, you would still consider your dad worth all the pain.

  I want you to know that I think you are really awesome, and you are quite a wonderful model of perseverence. Love on Christ's terms is painful, but is the only road to fulfillment.

  I just want to encourage you! Keep on doing good...

  Real Estate Scam in the Name of Religion

  i layed awake last night thinking this through, trying to understand it..... a congregation needs to build a hall.

  the money for this loan comes from donations from the worldwide brotherhood.

  so in effect, the congregation is borrowing some of its own money back.

  May I ask, does the congregation EVER get the deed after they pay off the loan? The WT is acting like a bank, and usually when a loan is paid off the borrower gets the title/deed. If the congregation doesn't get a deed, I think things are WAAAAAAY out of whack!!

  Also, I am aware of other denominations that make loans to churches for buildings and remodels, but the money does not come from donations. The denomination usually has a "credit union" style arrangement, where church members can start CDs or savings accounts and draw interest on those accounts. Funds are lent to chuches for projects at a very low interest rate. But members keep their own money (with interest).

  So, what is the need for donations, if the new congregation is actually paying for building? Shouldn't donors be reimbursed?

  Lotsa questions... Hmmmmmmmm. How strange....

  I lost my baby

  i come to you with a heavy heart and tears in my eyes.

  tuesday 27th may 2003 at 12.30 am, i misscarried my first baby.

  i was 9 weeks pregnant.

  Losing your first baby, especially considering the joy you had with anticipation, is so devastating.

  I'm so thankful that your husband and your mom are rising to the occasion, doing what is good and best in this tragedy. You can see what people are made of in times like this, and what blessings they can be.

  I do so hope that a new chapter has begun for you and your mom... I hope she will be a good part of all her grandkids' lives.
