This being Uzbekistan, I'm not surprised at the tone. In a Muslim's view, all non-Islamic religions which proselytize are cancerous, so there is alarm.
Fortunately, if the WTS is a 'cancer', then it is a slow-growth one.

i complain sometimes that it is annoying living in this small town of 6,000 because i am always running into (not over) my former witness "friends".
but there are perks too : yesterday my microwave stopped working , so i called the local downtown maytag dealer .
he promises to make a house call later in the afternoon to check it over .
I miss living in a small town. My town is about 50,000 now, and it's okay.
When we lived in a town of 1200, everyone knew my husband, who worked at the only family clinic. My husband would enjoy slower days in the office, and get to know the patients. There was time for him to shoot the breeze about fishing, hunting, and get an earful of advice from the locals. He misses that.
When people asked me my name, they always seemed to recognize it. Very weird! Of course, I think it was that more folks knew my husband.
I didn't have any problems there. We connected with some other young couples with kids who were away from family, and we always had a blast together. They were great people, great times...
I'm happy where I am now. But if I had to move, I'd choose a small town.

Edited to add: Hmmm. This news website also is reporting a UFO crash in Russia.
I suspect I reacted to a National Enquirer-type story...
my wife's brother is going bonkers.
his wife just called my wife to come up there to see if maybe he had a stroke.. his wife and daughter were out shopping and he was in the car waiting for them.
when she got back to the car he asked, "who are you.?
So Ken, you are saying this strange behavior came up very suddenly? If that happened to my husband, I'd simply drive him (without explanation) to the local emergency room. If he were suffering from dementia, he may not even understand the route. If his memory is really bad, he won't remember things from one minute to the next...
How about his brother telling him that everyone is going out for pizza? He might get into the car that way. Of course, she'll have to pick up pizza at some point before or after the ER...
The wife should call the doctor and tell him everything, and he should be able to direct her as to what she can do next. She needs to have SOME kind of contact with a medical advisor.

my friend's ex-husband was killed instantly in a car accident on sunday.
my daughter actually probably knew him better in recent years than i did, as she would accompany their daughter tori to his house on his weekends for four-wheeling, fishing, etc.
i have never been to a viewing before.

This is not a bad thing. You care a lot about that family and their loss. That touches the family, I assure you; it validates their own grief to see others grieve with them.
I recall the first funeral I ever went to, when I was 15. A 12-yr old boy, whose parents were my parents' good friends, had been viciously murdered (run over several times; no one has ever been arrested even yet). No open casket, obviously. The church was packed, and tears were flowing everywhere. I sat like a stone, wondering if something was wrong with me because I couldn't cry at all.
Then the casket came down the aisle, followed by the family who could barely walk. They were somehow holding each other up, the parents in particular were heaving with sobs. Seeing that, I really lost it. I just couldn't comprehend the impact on the family until that moment and it devastated me.
Sadly, 2 years later the mom died from a heart attack and hers was my second funeral. I went to the wake, and when I was greeted by the dad I began to cry! I felt terrible. But that is the way grief is--it won't be denied.

i know there may not be an answer to this question, but i am truly interested in other's views.
i know many are of various beliefs and some do not believe in god at all.. the question is: why does god not stop the suffering?
i watch so many suffer for no reason and no matter how i try to figure it out, i always come back to the fact that a loving parent would not allow their child to suffer needlessly.
Choosinglife, that is THE question, isn't it? And the answer, if there is an authentic one from God, would have to be pretty breath-taking and not shallow. Something epic, I think.
I wrote at length on this on a post long ago (thankfully not an epic)... and I spent much more time trying to find it than to just rehash it! But I did find it , and here's the link to the whole thread for context.

I must add here that I'd never heard of the 'competition between Satan and God' reason as the justification of suffering before coming to this board. Personally, I don't buy it.

energy and matter are neither created nor destroyed.. consequently, the building blocks of existence are actually finite parts.. to create things in "tomorrow" which are new, something has to be dismantled to leave spare parts for the new thing.. the old thing deteriorates, (dies) and the parts become the new thing.. time travel requires going to a place where all of today's parts are completely dismanteled and are being used (or not) to maintain yesterday/tomorrow.. ever see the film primer?.
said slightly differently...... you go into a room.
on the table is a box of dominoes.
I was in a job interview and I opened a book and started reading. Then I said
to the guy, "Let me ask you a question. If you are in a spaceship that is
traveling at the speed of light, and you turn on the headlights, does anything
happen?" He said, "I don't know." I said, "I don't want your job."

yes, i did and talked for over one hour to a 19 year old lifer dub.
i asked him if he had put a tract in my door implying that my religion was false.
i told him that i was jewish.-oops!
What an excellent response about blood and a starving man! Love it!
I'm sure this guy was happy to not have to go out door to door, so you really did him a favor (beyond getting him to think, of course). Nineteen years is a long sentence to serve. Hope he gets free.
Did you tell him you were local? Did you recognize this man? Did you leave a number (cell) or promise to call back next week?

if you ever travel i-75 through london kentucky, stop off at the shell station at exit 38. on the back side of the building beside the payphones there is a brochure rack for truckers, there are always watchtowers and awakes laying around.
i hit the jackpot on saturday when i was traveling north to dayton, i found a total of 8 different watchtower and awakes, i promptly removed them all.
this has been a tradition for me for the past few years.

i have been researching similar religions (christadelphians, church of god, sdas.
mormons, bible students) and just posted a new section at http://www.jwfacts.com/index_files/similar.htm.
below are comments from mormons and x mormons that i found on the internet.
At least Mormons have a university, are 'allowed' to be entertainers (Osmonds) and professional sports players.
Aren't there kingdom ministry schools? Bethel is quite an education too, I hear. As for entertainers/sports, what about Michael Jackson, Prince, and the tennis twins Venus and Selena? I guess these aren't allowed unless the JWS are so talented the WTS can't stop them! Yeah, Mormonism is pretty cultic, which becomes obvious when someone begins asking the wrong questions. Like the WTS, it can split families if one leaves. It's an easier toxin to deal with than the WTS, but still difficult. IMO. bebu
