  ALERT: All Child Abuse Lawsuits have been settled. Millions cashed out???

  a bethel insider in the know told me that all of the child abuse lawsuits where the watchtower bible and tract society was one of the defendants were settled back in the beginning of this year.

  i questioned it and called napa myself and they were absolutely settled back then.

  Are there other lawsuits pending besides those at Love and Norris? Will more victims come forward to sue the different congregations, or is this supposed to be a wrap-up. My guess is that the WTS would like this info very quiet so that other victims don't get inspired. The ones who were not represented in the lawsuit--will they be able to sue through another attorney? Will they be able to have THEIR day in court if they want? I'm no lawyer, obviously.

  I hope that this settlement will be the tip of a large iceberg.

  Is there a way to learn more about these cases? Is there a way for the media to get more info?

  And I wonder if Jim Whitney's testimony was involved in these cases. He promised info about this issue to us a long time back that would amaze us... but nothing said so far.

  A Major Dream Has Been Fulfilled!!!!!

  it has always been a dream of mine to transfer to, and graduate from the university of southern california.

  last year i applied, and about two weeks ago i was accepted.

  that was cool, but i had no way of paying for it, and the financial aid i applied for would not cover enough of the tuition, and other fees.

  Does this mean that tuition AND living expenses are covered? If so... that is Suuuuu-weeeeeeeet!!

  i just read some of the thread about keeping our kids away from jws and their teachings.......this is my situation and any helpful advice would be appreciated.......... i have a 14 year old son.

  his father and i have not been together since 1999, when i was disfellowshipped.

  we now share custody.

  What I would be trying to figure out is how to get him to cross websites like this board, freeminds, reexamine.org/quotes, etc., at the very least. You may make a very small comment about 607 BCE, for example, as a date with a lot of controversy surrounding it. And imply he should research it online. Figure out which words will google the best webpages and suggest them to him. Just 607 bce will bring up a lot of great web pages, for example. Or the UN scandal (google UN Watchtower NGO). He can do all the work himself, without you having to talk too much. Kids are very curious, so give him some bait.

  True Religion

  in the march 2007 watchtower on religion, the writer mumbles on and on about the virtues of true religion.

  the same was true in one of the tracts used in one of the more recent campaigns.

  they did not however proclaim themselves the only true religion.. are the j-dubs no longer claiming to be the only true religion in public print?

  I don't think they've abandoned that. They keep the patter up regularly enough that those who have long heard the mantra that the WTS is the only true religion will automatically be thinking this when they read about the virtues of true religion.

  I know how you feel, at least a little. There's lots of advice, support, information, stories of encounters, daily living, humor, political, and apologetic threads. But sometimes the thing you want is not in stock.

  Stack the fridge with beer and this site will appear much more interesting to you...

  I agree with this! You have brought your "rambling" thoughts here from time to time, and I enjoy them. I think you ought to pursue this line further. Sorta like Blondie does reviews, and Ozzie did surveys, maybe you can throw out questions or comments from your "rambling" mind, really open-ended stuff, about new perspectives you have now that you've traveled down this road a bit. For the benefit of folks who aren't interested in fighting or proving themselves 'right', but wheo enjoy sharing perspectives.

  Really, the WTS could afford it. They take in quite a lot even yet. It's just that they see any loss of money to a rank-and-file JW as unacceptable, so they refuse to put it into their budget.

  The folks at Bethel are definitely entitled to being covered by workman's comp--in NY and any state they might try to move HQ to.
