  My talk today with my JW neighbor

  i had a very good conversation with my jw friend today.

  it arose out of my invitation to our yearly friendship service at church this sunday.

  she was so nice, but said it might prove difficult, since jws made a specific commitment to jehovah, and the doctrine of our church was trinitarian and she would feel very uncomfortable.. then she asked me who i thought god was.

  Favorite epitaphs/ Your epitaph

  i've always "enjoyed"(?

  ) walking thru cemeteries, especially older ones, when i travel.

  i guess that's because in the western us we really don't have very many old cemeteries, and i find it an interesting window on history and lives.. in lexington, there was a grave that had the headstone marked with "i told you i was sick" (at least, that's what we heard on a local tv news story while we lived there).

  6:5 love the lord your god with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength (also matt.

  psalm 16:2: i said to the lord, you are my lord, i have no good apart from you.. psalm 37:4: delight yourself in the lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.. question: how can the dubs look at these verses, and still insist that god meant for the vast majority of people to live in a "paradise" away from the "desire of their heart"?

  dad always thought laughter was the best medicine, which i guess is why several of us died of tuberculosis.. maybe in order to study mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "mankind".

  have you ever picked up a hitchhicker?.

  i have never hitchhiked, but i have picked up hh's on occasion.

  i first did it in juneau, where there was a long road out to homes and shacks out on douglas island.

  my dear neighbor is.

  we get along so great, i was surprised when i learned that dubs were not supposed to have "worldly" friends.. this relationship kind of started by accident.

  first, i never was a jw, but since a dear friend of mine is one, i'm here to learn from the human elements in order to give her quiet assistance in leaving someday (soon, i hope).... i love reading.

  my favorite author thru the years has been cs lewis.

  i read narnia in hs, and loved the last book the best (last battle).
