Dallas Apostafest Pics!
by cruzanheart inokay, i'll start it off!
it was a fun weekend -- on friday night we had a fairly quiet (for us) gathering at xenawarrier's and lauralisa's hotel room with hors d'oeuvres and then a nice dinner at gloria's.
saturday was lunch at sonny bryan's bbq and then off to get some culture at the dallas museum of art.

Blood Type and Personality
by Mysterious inthe other day dad was telling me about how the wts used to say that the personality was in the blood.
today mom brought home the latest magazines (didn't look at the date) and in the "in our next issue" box there is an article asking if our blood type determines our personality.
maybe they're going to revisit the issue, i understand they never retracted their previous view on the subject.

For what its worth, I went to a doctor who turned out to believe in the blood type diet. Based on various things, she confidently assured me I am a type O. According to the American Red Cross, I'm an A negative. Who do you think I should believe?

Some advise for a stranger to JWs
by Llama inyeah, i'm a different thinker, floating between budhist and spiritualist ideas, and jw seems so rigid to me, i was quite shocked to read up on it.
unfortunately i have a question for you which i am dreading to ask, as i suspect the answer wont be one i wish to hear.. i have recently fallen for a girl, she is, well her parents are strictly jw as far as i understand, she follows this but has not been baptised yet.
i know she really likes me too, but i am not a witness, and i doubt i ever could be.

well, she may just be holding on until she can leave her parent's house and the JWs. So, maybe not run. But certainly clarify.

"It's fascinating to me that so many xJW's swap religious socialism for political socialism."¶¶¶Oh, clearly I have misunderstood. It seems to me that I hear people talk about the cold-heartedness of JWs. I certainly have not been overwhelmed with any sense of JWs being encouraged to take care of each other or even, for that matter, of themselves. What it looks like to me is: what do you give people in need? Ideology. What do you give people who have? More goodies.

It is fascinating to me that so many JWs flee from the Watchtower to the arms of the Republican Party.

Are You Able To Critically Express Yourself Here?
by minimus ini think some might get the impression that it's not right to express anything critical of this board.
some may feel that if a poster wants to express an opinion that is not in syc with the majority, they should not speak of it.if someone feels they have a valid criticism, i do think it is "healthy" to be able to express that opinion.
i am not referring to persons that seem to always complain about everything but i'm thinking of our not stifling a person.

I think when people don't agree with us our initial response is to think they don't understand. When it is clear that they understand but don't agree it is difficult for us not to think they're just wrong-headed. I also think people who respond to something with hurt feelings, find it very hard not to see another's behavior as the cause of the bad feelings. (Please understand that I do not exempt myself from these human tendencies!) It seems to me (who has never been anything like a Witness) that being a Witness may exacerbate those very human tendencies.

I absolutely am able to express myself--critically or otherwise--here. However, I also know how some people express themselves here and I will not post something that may evoke a response from one of them unless it is something both important to me and something I'm willing to fight over. So, yeah, I feel free--but I'm mindful of consequences and I choose my battles carefully.

I, too, remember, how reluctant Mrs. Min was to consider the untruthfulness of the "truth" not too long ago. so congratulations and much happiness to both of you!
