I have nothing to add to this excellent advice--just wanted to say I'm holding you in my heart. I do have some idea of what you're going through too.

Boolean, this sounds wonderful. Maybe more for your parents even than for you--but altogether wonderful. Thanks for telling us.

Another New Rule-----You Can't Record Prayers at the District Convention
by minimus inmy mother told me that she got a video from a sister that already went to the convention.
the entire program was recorded except for the prayers.
the sister said the society says we have to shut off the recording if the prayer is being given.

Songs are sent out from Brooklyn to be played at the meeting? The congregation sings along or just listens? No live instruments? Urg.

" By means of Eysenck's Personality Questionnaire, the author determined that almost two thirds of respondents tended to introversion and 35 percent scored as emotionally unstable." I'm wondering if the suggestion is that the introversion and emotionally instability are a result of their time within the organization or if the organization is more attractive to the introverted and the emotionally unstable. Anecdotal evidence from this board would suggest that the emotionally instability might be caused by the organization.

You know, I am serious about talking to that nine year old. Imagine yourself sitting on the side of the bed of that terrified kid. Imagine yourself reaching out to comfort and reassure. Imagine that child coming into your arms, sitting on your lap, and being comforted and reassured. Repeat as needed.

So, what REALLY happened on September 11, a.k.a. the unknowns...???
by reporter init's getting on to almost two years since the events of september 11, and it is striking how little we know about what happened: .
we don't know the real names of any of the hijackers.. we don't know what countries they came from.. we don't know who planned and organized the terrorism.. we don't know who financed it.. we have no idea what actually happened at the pentagon (but i know a boeing 757 didn't go through this hole).
normal video tapes of and from the pentagon building, which should have shown what happened, have never been released (except for one, which poses more questions than it answers).

Actually, there are quite a few people who, while a little embarrased at becoming conspiracy theorists, DO believe that the administration was behind the attack on the world trade center. Certainly, as I pondered who benefited from the atrocity, only the Bush administration came to mind. However, after watching this administration in action for the last 2 years, I feel whoever was behind the attack has/have far subtler mind(s) than these guys. (I know, I know, let the flames begin.)

I wanted to understand the belief structure and the effect it has on its adherents. I found myself unable to read the official publications, so, in part, I was looking for versions I could read and understand. Believe it or not, I was looking for a way to have respect for JW as a religion, so I could be supportive of a JW friend and not allow it to interfere with the relationship. Oh, well.
