  When does it get better?

  when will the guilty feeling of leaving the org go away?

  i am feeling at my lowest point right now, and its terrible.

  this after visiting my parents and feeling that awkward tension building between us.

  Congratulations on having the courage to read the COC book.

  I knew the Organization was acting Unchristian but it still took me over ten years after being disfellowshipped to even take a peek. We had all been warned so many times to Not read Apostate material or we would be disfellowshipped as an Apostate.

  Just to let you know, I was disfellowshipped for disagreeing with an elder regarding the sisters wearing "leg-warmers" in the field service. I was labeled an Apostate anyway. This all seems so silly now.

  They're trying to keep their current membership. Since many of the young people are not getting college degrees, they have to show even "educated" people will become JWs.

  My older son has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering but was raised as a JW. I believe the only thing keeping him in is father who has all but disowned his other three children for leaving "The Truth"

  I'm certain, he'll read this and believe every word because he wants to believe the lie.

  What is the mood in the Kingdom Halls nowadays?

  when i used to go the meetings in the late 80's, the mood was good, knowing that the end was close.

  later on in the 90's while i still attended once in a while, people were starting to be less zealous and were starting to put their needs before those of the kingdoms.

  people started to buy houses, instead of living in apartements, they were buying nicer cars, taking vacations far away, and mostly, the women started to work, to help pay for the better life style they were living.

  blondie's comments in the thread about jim penton's upcoming book got me thinking.

  she was talking about the jw rumour mill.

  i've been out (dfed) since 1995 and have only set foot in a kh for my brother's wedding.

  Sad to say, the rumors that seem to spread the fastest are when bad things happen to those on the outside. They thrive on Negativity (Not their fault of course; that's how they've been programmed)

  Rarely will you ever hear the JWs discuss the "Good" that happens.

  2 elders came to my door today, at noon sharp, and i opened the door to let them in.

  they didn't want to come in, so they stood at the door and asked me, "what's stopping you from coming to the hall"?

  they only come once a year and always around christmas time.

  I feel sick just thinking about sitting though one of those long-winded, boring, meeings. I feel even sicker to sit though a Watchtower Study with the Dubs answering word for word from the paragraphs; no room for free thought at all.

  Wow! I'd forgotten how paranoid JWs were about their demons. I make a living buying antiques from Estates and selling on line. I'd think after the thousands of items that have passed through my doors over the past few years, there would been at least one little spook sneak in. lol!

  I believe many witnesses find it to be entertaining to discuss demons; it actually excites them.

  What is Christmas to an Ex-JW?

  what is christmas to you?

  if you were raised a jw, as my children were, getting used to christmas takes time, and does not carry with it any memories.

  for others who became jws later in life, it took time to get over christmas and learn to discredit the custom and lose feelings for it, and in some cases even learn to hate christmas as an evil pagan evoluton of apostate christianity.. .

  A week ago Sunday Night, our little church had a live Nativity. Our pastor was directing people from the Neighborhood where to park, by saying "There's No Room At the Inn, but there is a place to Park" - He really has a sense of humor.

  A lady, not a member of our church, motioned Pastor Tim to come over to her.. She asked if her two little boys could approach the baby Jesus because they had gifts for him. Those little boys were wide-eyed with expectation. Jesus is very real to these Children.

  Since I left the witnesses so many years ago, Jesus has become real to me again; he's not just a name to use as a go between for the purpose of prayer. He was a real human at one time. He grew up as we did, he cried with people, he laughed, he played. He had compassion, He became angry at the Pharasees for making up all their strict burdensome rules. I think we can all relate to Jesus in this regard. Many religious leaders in our day are just like the Pharasees; and it's quite normal to feel angry about mistreatment.

  With that said, I wish all of you a joyous holiday!!
