I was extremely touched by your post and if possible would have given you a big hug. Please don't ever put yourself down like that again. That's how so many of us felt when we were put on the outside of the Organization; that's a hard habit to break. You are one of the regular posters I have a great deal of respect for.

i am a student and am taking a class regarding christianity.
i have a paper to write about a different type of denomination other than my own.
i picked studying and doing my paper on jehovahs witnesses because i was interested in them.

I guess it depends upon what you consider Organized Religion. I did join a small church here in Columbus so so I could be in contact with others who appreciate and love Christ as I do. Unlike the JWs, my group reaches out to help others. The focus is on the love of Christ, not the rage filled God that the JWs promote.
I do keep my church group at an "arms-length", I think, because I'm a little afraid of being controlled again. They also don't really understand what it was like being involved in a cult. All in all, It's really nice though to be in the Choir, a home study group and have friends who don't judge me. I also have a Christian ex-JW support Group that I stay close to.
did you for a time think it was still the only true religion and that you were just condemned as long as you were out.
i read a comment by ghosthunter today that kind of echoed my feelings.
i know if i had never read the things i had read here, i'd still have left, for i did that before reading and learning, but i would have been out without the freedom from guilt and damnation.....
I didn't have any feelings at all; I was Numb. I did know the lack of love within the organization was not Christian. I also felt strongly that if we were witnesses only to save our behinds at Armageddon, it wouldn't work.
our daughter-in-law (who is a witness) has invited us (via email) to the memorial on april 4. she says it's not just for jws.
is this true??
i thought this gathering was exclusively for witnesses; and to partake....er....not partake of the bread and wine?
My ex-husband has stopped by our daughter's place of employment within the past week inviting her to their Memorial. It's too bad he can't just stop by to see how she's doing or to say he loves her.

Just about anything. I especially like Tchiakovsky, Strauss, White Zombie, Metallica, Big Band, Fiddle Blue Grass, even much or Marilyn Manson as long as I don't have to look at him.
are there any things you threw away when you became a witness that you now regret throwing away?
I never threw anything of mine away based on the WTBS opinions and/or directives. I remember a Service Meeting in 1974 or 1974 where the Congregation was advised to be careful of musical entertainment. We even had to consider the moral lives of the singers/musicians in deciding what music to listen to. My husband (now ex) obediently went home and threw almost all of his records away. He especially didn't want to keep "Jesus Christ Superstar" - When he told me I had to get rid of mine; I refused. My music was so tame; even outdated ie Big Band, Mitch Miller, Bobby Vinton, etc.

I'm one of those people who can clean up just about anything, dead animals, slime, poop...whatever.
I Could never get used to cleaning up Vomit though; it make me retch! That's how I feel about the Kingdom Hall.
