When I was a JW, we were never considered worthy enough. (The Pharasees of Jesus time spread the same garbage)
Then I read the Bible and learned it is by Grace, not Works that we are to be Saved. Read the Book of John and learn the real truth.

this is my first post and i wanted to say that i've been reading this site for about 2 or 3 weeks now on and off.
my experiences are nowhere near as deep as many of people on these forums but i did study the jw/watchtower material for about 2 1/2 years starting when i was like 15. i kept many of those beliefs with me even after i stopped studying on a regular basis around the year 2000. i'm 22 now and it wasn't until very recently that i was finally realizing the grim reality of the jw religion.
i guess you could call that "new light"... .
Congratulations! You were more fortunate than many. Jehovah's Witnesses don't realize how close freedom is. (And other cults for that matter)
The scripture that rang in my ears over and over as a JW was 1 Thess. 5:21 - Make Sure of All Things........ I always thought of about Jesus' Commandment about loving one another; it wasn't there with the JWs. This alone should be enough to give them the courage to investigate, yet they are afraid. My oldest son Thomas included. He is a wonderful, loving young man yet I haven't seen him in over two years; it's as if he is dead. I have to force myself at times to remember he exists.

when a company is on strike and employees picket outside the building with signs, do witness employees participate in any way?
usually there is a strike fund for those who picket.
what about the witnesses, how do they proceed when their company is on strike, and do they get the same amount of money as the others who picket?.
The WTBS expects them to take this free time to go from door to door peddling Books and Magazines.
my opinion is that jw's are into corporal punishment more than the general population.
maybe it's my imagination, maybe not.. do you remember being told "not to spare the rod" in disciplining children?
do you remember being that kid that got beat?.
I remember a wife who would let her kids color and she was always gossiped about, how her kids should be PAYING ATTENTION!
I got lots of complaints for allowing my kids to take their homework, coloring books, etc to the Kingdom Hall. Only thing is these complaints always come from the elders to my husband. I think they were all afraid of me because I would set them straight! There was no doubt, some gossiping but many sisters, including elders' wives, agreed with my views on raising children.

one thing i took pride in as a witnesss was that we knew our bible.
we could talk to any clergymen and smugly decimate them with our knowledge of the "truth".
I liked the the mixed races of people in the congregations. We didn't think of one another as black or white.
