Welcome Tech. Like you, I'm straddling the fence as well, and have to manage my spouse being "in".
The blood issue is pivotal for me as well, closely followed by the NGO issue.
i have to say that at one time i wouldn't even consider reading material at a discussion group like this one.
but in the last two years, discussion groups like this one have been indispensable to my dealing with a very personal crisis of faith, and i want to thank the brave and loving persons who sponsor sites like this, and the brave and loving persons who participate in them.
like many here, i was raised as one of jehovah's witnesses and never questioned the validity of the wbts view.

here is the thread you need: http://www.randytv.com/laundermoney.htm.
watchtower admits, from the watchtower's treasurers office, to backing bush, and engaging in political, military, and government programs.
laundering money through their holocaust fund.
In the past, it was thought that Randy was the voice on the tape. But was this the case? Some have alleged, no no, it was understood that, this was the voice. However, clearly new light has indicated this should no longer be our thinking on the matter.
(In other words, apologies to Randy for the insinuation).

Weak. Pretty bad attempt at entrapment. All I heard was that one person acknowledged the $5 for the Holocaust fund. They probably figured that only a weirdo would send $5 attempting to split it several ways. There is no direct or even implied conspiracy here.
I also hear several flaws:
- How did he email the WT when the WT site clearly says they only answer in letters?
- How did he verify that "they cashed the money order" when there is, to my knowledge, no way of checking this, since in most cases money orders are equivalent to cash?
Reminds me of the movie "Better Off Dead". "I want my two dollars!" Better acting in that movie though. You have Christmas in France, don't you? You know, CHRISTMAS. But I digress.
Randy was a Bethelite? Not exactly the greatest speaker I've ever heard, not even at the congregation level.
Sorry, I buy the UN story but not this.
.
this recent letter was an answer given to a request of the un for wt information.
minimus and i know the individual, who wishes to remain anonymous.. .
So it must follow then the society's statement that "the guidelines contain language that, at least in their present form" bla bla (paraphrasing) can empirically be proven to be a lie?
(I'm envisioning the conversation now. "You see? The Society lied to us." "Yes, I see. They lied. So what? Maybe Jehovah has his reasons")

It's natural to doubt. In my case I just asked the UN librarian to verify that the emails posted on the web were in fact of her writing.
Playing JW advocate for a moment, is it possible that, since the above letter is dated January 1992, that the Society applied in 1991 under different guidelines, and became approved in 1992 but were grandfathered in under different guidelines?
I'm not sure why most of the letters say "have not changed since 1991" since it appears that those guidelines go way back. What did change in 1991, if anything?
To me, the problem is not if they used theocratic warfare to get something out of the UN, it's that they lied to the entire JW population by means of that circular letter.
seems like there are differnet tier's of kindgom halls.
the old hall i went too was orginally supposed to be large house, iirc.
when our congregation outgrew it, it was sold to a company next door that build coffins and caskets.
Some are sold to Babylon the Great to be used as churches or temples. That one never made any sense to me.
unbelievable... the guy i studied with called my house tonight after 10 years i left.
fortunately my wife answered and told him i wasn't available so i have time to think about my options.
he left his name and number.
If you do a search you will find that there is a general campaign to visit the inactive and try to "encourage" them to come back to meetings.
Many have echoed your concerns about "what if", and there really are no hard and fast answers. If you tell them to bugger off, odds are good that it will have a worse effect than meeting with them and saying you are just not in a place right now where you can deal with this, due to work, family or whatever.
been done before i'm sure, but here we go......... 5. shawshank redemption.
4. air force one.
3. wizard of oz.
In no particular order:
Holy Grail
Life of Brian
Matrix
Blade Runner
Top Gun
For the most part, CB is a dying breed. Some automobile drivers still use them for keeping an eye on traffic and police, especially those with heavy feet (ahem), but otherwise CB is the domain of the truckers, and even they seem to be using it less and less as more people have cellular phones and two way radios. It's hard to find a CB sales/repair shop, except for truck stops, though there are many mail order places that still carry them.
