This site has been going for 13 years. Did you ever at one point fear armageddon?
by ILoveTTATT ini am just wondering about all of you who have been on this site for long.
in all of the events that have happened since 2000 (for example, september 11th), have you at any point, even you die-hard apostates, felt like "oooh sh!t... i should go back to the kh"... just to have the world survive the latest disaster?.
what was the worst event for you, in terms of saying... "did i mess up???

That's great! I think I will have problems (like I did with December 21st, 2012) in 2014. Granted, I have OCD, which is defined by doubts and anxieties...

I may not be able to hold the status quo for longer!
by ILoveTTATT intoday my mom called me three times at work to tell me how "worried" she was about my spirituality.. i so wanted to tell her some ttatt but just said, "mom, i am fine spiritually.
if i am ever in trouble spiritually, i will tell you.
meanwhile, i would really appreciate it if you left my relationship with god a private matter.".

Can you put off the meeting for a week or two, and see if she kind of forgets about it, love?
I wish! My mom, when she wants something, goes OCD-ic in her attempt to get it. She wants to talk to me and know what's wrong... and she won't stop bugging me until she does.
Here's my plan:
1. Ask her if truth can be defended against any and all attacks. (She will say yes)
2. Remind her about The Matrix and she said she would take the red pill (truth, no matter how much it hurts).
3. We have gone over the BITE model, and applied it to my grandma. She has stated before that she hates evil and lying manipulation like the one my grandma did on her. My grandma seemed nice to everyone else, but she repeatedly lied to people (in a malicious manner) and instilled in my mother phobias. Thankfully, she has gone to a psychologist to learn that she had been abused in that manner for many years, and she accepts anything that has a "psychology feel" to it.
4. Ask her to read Deuteronomy 18:20-22. Ask her to define a "prophet" with the Reasoning book.
5. Show her the Awake of March 1993, the "False Prophets" article, and just below the "Creator's promise" of the generation.
6. Ask HER to explain that to me. Tell her it has really stumbled me.
We'll see how it goes from there.

Lo and behold... she does want to meet with me... and dad.
I will take the Bible and will do as much TTATT just with the Bible as possible. False prophets, antichrist, please give me your "nukes"!!
Thanks!

What was the worst event for you, in terms of saying... "Did I mess up??? Did I do the right thing coming out of the JW's?"... Even for a couple of days?
How did you overcome that feeling, and now, reviewing the history of mankind, do you feel immune to those feelings now?

Today my mom called me THREE times at work to tell me how "worried" she was about my spirituality.
I SO wanted to tell her some TTATT but just said, "Mom, I am fine spiritually. If I am ever in trouble spiritually, I will tell you. Meanwhile, I would REALLY appreciate it if you left my relationship with God a private matter."
Part of her concerns are that I come late (duh, avoiding the eldars)... that I seem to be so isolated (I haven't hung out with a single JW friend in months, possibly a year or more?), that I seem so sad (again, duh... I KNOW that my mom is mind-controlled by a cult and can't do much about it...)
I talked it over with my dad... he asked me to somehow keep it going for longer... delay the inevitable.
I think that I will go to the meeting this week (the one where I won't get into much trouble)... haven't been to the KH in months... I hate every second that I am there, I am extremely anxious and want to puke and scream out to people... But I have to do it, or else people will say, "but we haven't seen him!" (Remember, I PRETEND I go to the meetings. Instead I go to a coffee shop and do exJW related projects, or go watch a movie, or just have fun)...
I am betting that today after the meeting she'll want to talk to me... when she gets an idea in her head, it's really hard to calm her down.
I HATE having her tell me to "be careful, Satan's gonna get ya! Temptations are out there blah blah blah... We are so close to the end, you will lose your eternal life"!! And me KNOWING that it's all bullshit, that those ASSHOLES in NY have been keeping her and millions of other people in needless fear and anxiety...
I am so glad I realized that this is the only life.... USE IT PEOPLE!! ENJOY IT!!sorry just needed to rant...

Who we should look to for "accurate" medical information--Where's the article?
by JustMe2 ina number of threads discuss some of the extreme, even bizarre, medical advice that's been given in wtbs publications over the years.
it's ironic, then, that years ago an awake!
or watchtower article warned of the need to be on guard regarding certain extreme forms of alternative medicine.

Here are some results for "accurate" and "medical" from the WT library:
*** g04 10/8 p. 31 From Our Readers ***
The material in this series moved me to get medical treatment. It has also helped my wife to cope better with my depression. I never fail to be impressed with how timely and accurate your articles are.
C. B., Germany*** g92 4/8 p. 27 “I Wept for Joy” ***
“I cannot express just how timely the articles were. I really couldn’t believe how accurate the information was. I have suffered depression and bulimia for 20 years, looking for help and answers everywhere: psychiatrists, psychologists, medical doctors, group therapy, weight-loss clinics—all a dead end for me.*** g92 4/22 p. 30 From Our Readers ***
From Our Readers
Cancer Treatments I believe that the item “Treatments Compared” that appeared in the “Watching the World” section (September 22, 1991) was seriously misleading. It implies that people suffering from cancer would benefit just as much from unconventional therapy as they would from treatment at an established medical center. The tenor of The New England Journal of Medicine article upon which your item was based is quite different from your item.
A. R., M.D., United States
Our brief item was accurate, but we did fail to report one key finding of the study, namely, that terminally ill patients receiving conventional medical treatment reported a “significantly better quality of life” than those receiving unorthodox treatments. Nevertheless, as our item showed, neither treatment proved effective in prolonging the patients’ lives. The study thus suggested that a “no-treatment alternative” for some terminally ill patients be considered. Readers should also note that, according to the researchers themselves, these findings “cannot be generalized to patients with less advanced stages of [cancer].” The authors of the study conclude that some unorthodox treatments “may warrant appropriate investigation” by medical researchers.—ED.This one's ironic considering the Watchtower Society consistently does not give accurate medical information, often giving very misleading information.
*** g84 7/8 p. 18 Your Right to Weigh Risks and Benefits ***
Such advice can be most meaningful if you recognize your right—yes, your obligation—to obtain accurate medical information. Often it is wise to get a second opinion. Inquire as to the various ways in which a medical problem can be treated, and the potential risks and benefits of each therapy. Then, knowing the risk/benefit ratio, you can make the informed medical decision. The law establishes that you have that right. God and your conscience say that you have that obligation. -

Yeah, this post goes straight into WT theology. World is becoming peaceful except for those religious people... Therefore the UN will wage war against religion.

Where the need is greater: TTATT in Spanish
by Londo111 init seems most of the us growth is in spanish-speaking territory, and of course, there is growth in the nations where spanish is the predominant language.
most sites oriented around ttatt, are english-speaking.
there seems then to be a great need for translators...for instance, imagine if there was a spanish version of www.jwfacts.com.. unfortunately, i dont speak this language.

Need help!!!! My wife has a part on whether Christ was raised a spirit body...
by DS211 ini need to take this opportunity to plant a seed of truth to my wufe.
remember subtlety is key!
her part is was jesus raised a spirit body?.

Hi DS211, notice how jwfacts only goes into doctrine a little bit, not too much? There's a reason why that site is considered to be the best...
User adamah in a post mentioned that the Bible suffers from something similar to a person who shoots first and THEN paints a bullseye around the shot. On this topic the JW's can use a text in... Peter (?) where it says that Jesus was resurrected in the spirit.
The texts that previous posters in this thread have used point to Jesus resurrecting with a fleshly body.
which one does the Bible support? Seemingly, both. That's why I am agnostic.
But each one can arrive at their own conclusions. That is true freedom of belief, which no JW has... in practice.
