  Goofy's Introduction, hello

  i feel like i know some of you since i have been lurking here for almost two years, yikes!.

  let me introduce myself.

  i go by goofy here, you know the disney character, always liked him.

  yipes! im studying now off and on. the more i get to know witnesses the more i hear these things.

  i guess people join religions for all kinds of reasons . some dont want to be lonely, some are diagnosed with disease and want to make it right before they die, some like to debate, some want to understand the bible and some want the truth.

  I ve heard people say they will brainwash me over and over so i learned about brainwashing yipes! i feel stronger because i can see em coming now! I understand that organizations have their own agendas but being free in christ means you are not bound to any temples or buildings or organization but where ever you go and whatever you do with your life keep christ in your heart. Never mind trying to join anything because you only end up serving men or conforming to the organizational image and way of living and forgetting all about god.

  so be happy you are free, they will be jealous and try to attack your freedom. rediscover yourself and live.

  my mom told me after she left that whenever she ran in to some of them they would look her up and down, say things like by, she sure got ugly... or try to pick on her. Most of them sound infantile and silly. She still reads the bible on her own but she refuses to use their books.

  the bible talks of people being shown or led by the spirit or a voice that says walk in the way so many things support possibility of it and many things can be used to question it. if you look at it in a spiritual way yes but in a worldy scientific way no?

  Alternative pets?

  well, i don't have the most active or exciting life, so i've been thinking about getting a pet to liven things up a little around the homestead.

  dogs?

  too much commitment, also high ownership expenses.

  i like pets that thrive on neglect like those cool plastic tropical fish, or online pets have you tried getting a cyber pet they have cyber pups and kitties etc that you can adopt at different cyber pet sites to keep on your desktop.

  was the death of jesus for the purpose of god being able to forgive adams sin for all of mankind?

  will people really live forever, i thought god cut mans lifespan to 70 or 80 because the longer they lived the more trouble they caused.

  they seemed to keep on going bad he seemed to think this was a good way to curb it. i think it was in genesis...

  i know a girl who heard about 9/11 years before it happened. She had dreams for years, she tried to tell the brothers and the brothers called her crazy and all the usual split personality stuff but here we are. so again i dunno what to think.

  who is the keeper of the dragnet? i mean who is it that gathers souls in the net and does the sorting?

  when it says free people in christ does it mean we are not obligated to any organization but as we live day to day we are free to live as long as we walk in christ? Organizations can be damaging are we free or are we bound to one?

  I thought that what you said was beautiful and i remember being told that heaven is not open to me as if anyone could really know that.

  I wonder if it applies still, i hope but i guess we will wait and see.

  The UN being done away with - Religion banned worldwide

  if you believe that the governments of the world will really say "ok un we have had enough of you go away" then your a nutter.

  i can always see a need for the un to be in place even if their sole duty is to help struggling countries put themselves together again.

  if the un was done away with (and lets face it, does that really seem likely ?

  i get confused too. i felt the bible was about people who lived thousands of years ago in the middleeast.

  It was about their relationships whith god, their inspired ideas, their observation about life humans and gods dealings,& about issues they faced back then.

  Its like going to barnes and noble picking up any book saying this is a letter from the author to me. Just because you find similarities, common ideas or similar situations doesn't mean its about you or applies to you.

  I wonder just how much of it has anything to do with us today, perhaps there will be the start of a new chapter or book whenever god chooses to get the ball rolling. perhaps he will start relating to people again like in bible times. Til then i mean really, who knows?

  Life in a Peaceful New World

  listen, i know this has been done a million times before on this board, but

  this morning i was called on by jehovahs witnesses.

  it's strange that when they come to the doors they don't really conversate.

  It was like, if you don't accept our way of explaining we will stop our visits.

  I had a pleasant experience a week ago with an older woman and her chatty friend.

  She admitted something watchtower has said and done was incorrect and that she has seen many things go wrong in her 30 years of memberhip.

  Finally, a real person. Sometimes they seem like thoses people from invasion of the body snatchers. I asked her why did you stay?

  I found it all confusing my first instinct would be to seek truth elsewhere. She said There is no where else to go to.

  You have to find someplace in gods organization and do your best, there isn't an organization on this planet that isn't a little devious, wrong or just all out phony. You have to pick one and try to find the closest thing to truth that you can. One thing that helped her was no matter what anyone said, taught, or fought over she kept her mind set on the prize, on getting her heavenly reward etc...etc.. that way she did not get caught up in scandals but could see the truth clearly and keep her grip on reality.

  It was a long and involved talk, i invited them for lunch aqua grill.

  I don't know what to think sometimes. but i guess being paralyzed by fear is no good either. Some witnesses agree with some things but not others, some only get so involved with the organization because you are at the mercy of imperfect humans.You have to give up your own identity, and your way of life and blend in with things that are just rediculous because it wants to create some image. But most just want to understand the bible and want to be happy and so miss alot of meetings. oh well that was some visit. I don't think i will come to much closer to them, i still talk to people from all religions now and then. in the end god decides regardless of what we think we or someone else deserves so i leave it at that and live my life.
