Article: Jehovah's Witnesses condemned for using 2,000yo rules regarding child sex abuse
by AndersonsInfo inhttp://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-11-28/jehovahs-witness-handling-of-child-abuse-condemned-in-report/8063798.
by michelle brown.
jehovah's witnesses use of 2,000-year-old protocols when dealing with abuse complaints has been condemned in a report by the royal commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse.. last year, the commission examined the experiences of two abuse survivors within the jehovah's witness organisation.. it also looked at evidence from case files that recorded reports or complaints of abuse by just over 1,000 jehovah's witnesses.

So, how did the 'beard article' go over yesterday at your congregation?
by neat blue dog inat mine the conductor was somewhat awkward and minimal and there were nervous chuckles from the audience.
two people, including an elder, gave reasonable comments that it's okay as long as it's not extreme styles, etc.
but then another one of the elders commented that nothing has changed and they still aren't proper locally.

We had our circuit assembly and they played it really safe. They read exactly what is in the magazine, no additional comments even from the speaker.

Song 146 - You did it for me
by Listener inthe watchtower 1970 4/1 emphasis the principle that singing at the kingdom hall is part of worship to god and is one of the most beautiful ways they can show this worship to him.. of all the ways in which we can worship and praise jehovah god—by prayer, by public talks, by our field ministry and by our exemplary conduct—one of the most beautiful of them is this literal singing of songs to jehovah’s praise....and, above all, let us pay more than usual attention to the words.
it is by the words that we worship jehovah god, bringing praise to him.
as an introduction to song 146, jw org states -jesus considers any act of love and support for his anointed brothers as though it were done for him.

I missed this post a few months ago. So my first time seeing and hearing these lyrics was this week at the meeting. They played a video of JW's singing it first. They looked like a choir without the robes. I guess there is nothing wrong with that any more. Then the congregation sang it to close out the meeting.
It really is a self serving song. It takes nerve to redirect worship from Jesus and Jehovah to the GB and make the congregation sing about it. But guess what? It was hit, the friends were humming it even afterwards. I can still hear it in my head.

"The G.B. is neither inspired nor infallible"
by smiddy inthat admission in the feb.17 ,study edition of the watchtower , " who is leading gods people today ?
" "the governing body is neither inspired, nor infallible, therefore it (they/we) can err in doctrinal matters or in organizational direction .".
have the many jehovahs witnesses past and present who have lost their lives by refusing blood transfusions due to the prohibition on blood tranfusions by jehovahs witnesses really got the sense of this statement ?.

CO visits me today
by Chook ini'm at home and hear knock on door , i sneak and look i see two men and recognise one voice and go back into lonunge and ask wife ( who is inactive believer) does she want to speak to elders ,she says no ,then literally 3 minutes has pasted another knock the 3 minutes seemed like an eternity.
so brave heart me think fuck it i'll answer ,i invite them in for coffee, i recognise one older man he is a unique elder who i genuinely was fond of when i was in his name is andrew ,the other guy i didn't recognise we will call harry ( not real name australia doesn't have that many cos with his same name).
so i think to myself i will tread lightly and not cause to much of a fuss for the wife's sake, but my personality is very the opposite of treading lightly ,as you read my threads you will realise i'm not timid.

New, but needed to vent- thank you :-)
by Danni Jackson ini discovered your website this morning as i was trying to find some information about 'marking'.
you see a very close friend of mine was 'marked' earlier this week and as i know the ins and outs of the situation (as we are close friends) i disregarded the talk immediately as i know my friend is obviously having issues but is no way a 'danger' to anybody else's spiritual health.
basically they are dating a non-believer- hence the talk.

Hi Danni, welcome.
We had that same type of marking talk several years ago regarding a sister that married an unbeliever. As you stated its pretty much to make an example of your friend and let everyone else no that that's a no no. If they were to ever get married, the gossip should die down and things should level out as far as them being viewed as any other JW with an unbelieving mate.
I see what you are saying about the hypocrisy, they say they are doing the marking to prevent the "erroring one" from being a danger to the congregation but its not like they are going around trying to get others to marry out side the truth in the first place. Besides, the marking talk is most likely the first time many in tge congregation are being made aware of the person's situation. That was when I found out about the sister in our congregation.
