on reading the september issues of watchtower and awake, i had a good laugh at the hypocrisy that leaped out at me.awake sept 8th 2002 :"to believe that numerological interpretations are accurate, when they are based upon such widely variable factors as calendar and language, is to stretch the limits of credibility to an absurd degree.".
considering the amount of ridiculous number crunching done by the society, how amazing that they print that statement!
if i remember rightly 607 date is based on an interpretation of calendar dates and the 'language' of the bible (which they always manage to skew to their doctrine).

Your excellent point that the label "Jehovah's witnesses" was for nearly 2 decades NOT applied to what is NOW 99.99% of "Jehovah's Witnesses is a point that is not made frequently enough on this forum.__________
Few of today's JWs know this, and even fewer recognize the scriptural significance of that fact, as well as OTHER RELATED FACTS:_______
1.___JWs long ago stopped baptizing in the "name of the Holy Spirit", since it is presumed no newly baptized person can be "annointed".________
2.___ At what is ludicrously labeled an annual celebration of the "memorial" of Christ's sacrifice, each and every one of those 99.99% of JWs accept the very emblems of Christ's sacrifice into their own hands, and what do they do (???), THEY ACTIVELY REJECT CHRIST'S SACRIFICE by refusing to partake of such emblems, thereby rejecting the covenant (contract) which Jesus made with the Christian community.________
WHERE in the Bible is it ever so much as hinted at that Christians would STOP being baptized in the name of the Holy Spirit, or would STOP annually renewing the "christian contract"?________
A good argument could be made that the "JW Memorial" is actually a "satanic celebration", which serves no legitimate purpose other than for "anti-christs" to gather together to intentionally reject Christ's sacrifice. After all, JWs go out of their way to make absolutely sure that each and every person attending their "Memorial" has each of the emblems in his/her exclusive control at some point in the ceremony. That way every person attending makes a conscious decision to NOT partake of Christ's blood and body, and thereby REJECT every Christ stands for.

in central florida,(orlando area) two firefighters died in a training exercise a couple of days ago.
it was a terrible way to die and a tragic loss.
i was surprised to hear today that one is a witness and that his funeral is being held at a convention center (tupperware?

They're bringing in a Bethelite-Heavy to make sure that the funeral service pacifies the firefighters while toeing the party-line. This could give the WTS GOOD PR if all goes well._______

just twenty minutes ago i was sitting at the piano and my wife comes up to me and says, "i talked to the brothers, you were absolutely right, i apologize, he (my minor son) will never go to the meetings again".
i sat there in stunned shock both happy and sad at the same time.
IMHO, I would take her statement with a grain of salt, while looking over my shoulder for that run-away dump truck that is going to run over my ass.______
As for those recommending that you allow your young teenager to make his own decision about becoming a member of A CULT, why don't you just just cut off your balls and hand them to him also, so that he then will be the only man in the house.

the congregation was always being told to root out any person who was engaged in wrongdoing.
if it was a best friend or even a family member, you were to inform the elders so that they could look into the matter and investigate any possible sin.
the elders pretty much told the brothers that those knowing of a sin and not reporting it were as guilty as the person that actually sinned!
Several decades ago, at the very time that I (a teenager eager to please authority figures) was receiving my first privileges in the Cong, one of my family members divorced their JW spouse, moved to another city, became inactive, and started "dating" a worldly co-worker. Over a period of months, it started becoming obvious to the family that there was more than "dating" going on, and word finally got around to the Cong Servant. He started snooping around and questioning all the family, but noone would "rat out" the relative._______
Finally, the CS questioned me (a minor) in front of my parents (who had already refused to give the CS the evidence he needed), and I spilled the beans._______
Later, after the DF'ing occurred, the family slipped around and only pretended to shun the DF'ed, that is, ALL EXCEPT FOR ME, who obeyed the rules completely._________
The DF'ed family member was eventually reinstated, and has spent the remainder of their life as a slave to the WTS trying to erase that backsliding period.______
I never again have had the close relationship that I once had with that person, but even now they refuse to "rat me out" for "apostasy", rationalizing that I am only temporarily "stumbled" and will one day return._______
As for the rest of the JW family who refused to rat out this person, and then refused to shun them after the DF'ing, they all are still "loyal" JWs.________

The incident I related was here in the U.S., so at least the "unwritten rules" seem to be consistent here.
But there's the problem. How do you convince outsiders of such when it contradicts what the WTS puts in print? All the WTS has to do is plead "elder ignorance/disobedience" in a supposedly isolated instance.
Even in this case, the mistreated family in question, to this day, believes that this was an isolated case of "elder ignorance/disobedience", and refuse to blame the WTS system.

I also know of a situation where a JW (elder or ms-can't recall which) was convicted on "reduced charges" relating to molestation of 2-3 JW children belonging to a single "sister". He spent less than a year in jail. He denied everything, and was never Df'ed.________
When he got out of jail, he naturally returned "home". When the "sister" "complained" that she and her children would now have to attend the same KH with this "brother", the elders told her that he was innocent accordingly to biblical principles, and if SHE had a problem with this, then SHE could pack her family up and move elsewhere, even though SHE was the local native and the molester was the move-in.
