  <b>The IMAGE of the Beast</b> It’s interesting that many people have have tried to come up with many ideas of who or what the Image of the beast is. A computer, A statue of the beast himself, A robot etc. what does the scriptures say.

  Re 13:15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
  
  It’s very interesting that this image that is portrayed in Revelations is almost the same kind of image that Nebuchadnezzar built. If you look at what Nebuchadnezzar’s decree was in vs 6, it is that all that would not worship the Image that he SET UP they were to be killed and thrown into a fiery furnace. Like the Image of Nebuchadnezzar look what happens in Revelation, except for one thing, God throws those who worship the Image into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

  Babylon the great is Rome. Notice the word IS. As John wrote the book of Reveleations Rome was the current power at that time. Also the Revived Roman Empire is about to be born with a new constitution this year, Dec 2003.

  Last time I looked Babylon was in Iraq. How can you be so sure this isn't present day. Don't forgt Isa 13 too.

  Isa 13:4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.

I can't say that I agree that Babylon the great is USA since we know in Revelations that Babylon the great, is a city. If you look at the scripture and "is" being the present time as John was writting, I would conclude that this would be Rome. Re 17:18 And the woman which thou sawest [b]is[/b] that great [b]city,[/b] which reigneth over the kings of the earth. As the world watches Iraq, behing the scene the NEW Roman Empire is about to be born.

  Major WTS Prophecy goes down to defeat !!!

  many here may recall that the watchtower society has published much material on the prophetic role of the united nations ... specifically, the united nations is the scarlet colored wild beast, the "image" of the worldly 7 headed wild political beast ... it would be given life by the two-horned dual world power of britain and america, the "lamb-like beast spoken of in revelation ... this "image" beast would be given power to rule one prophetic hour over the nations as they subordinate their national sovereignty to it ... and so on ...

  then ... after the creation of the united nations in 1945 in san francisco the wts interpreted revelation regarding the demise of the old league of nations to apply to a statement in revelation that this "image" beast would be revived in the form of the united nations ... seemingly, the wts was on to something ... and for the next 45 years (until about 1990) the watchtower published anything and everything they could to make their interpretation stick with respect to how deep in the time of the end they believed we were living in ... then, about 1990, the watchtower society joined the un as a member ngo ... a significant departure from their previous stand on political neutrality ... and ... hatred of satan's old system of things ... certainly, since we are nearly 90 years into the last days of this wicked system we would expect the un to be in control or at least taking the lead ...

  so, now ... where do we stand as of march 19th, 2003?
