Should Voters Be Made To Prove They Are Eligible To Vote?
by minimus ini believe that just because someone shows up at the voting booth, it doesn’t automatically qualify them to be legitimate voters.
i think it’s not unreasonable to provide proof that you are qualified..

Well......I'm 47, balding, pretty much a snow white beard......and I can't buy a beer in most of the establishments in town with showing my ID. So ya.........a legal form if ID to vote should be a common sense no-brainer.

Little common sense can be used here......in the past 2+ years...the Clinton machine, the Soros machine, the media, the DNC, the establishment have spent 10's of millions to find ANYTHING they can. And they have the freedom to use methods that the FBI can not use. Do you think if they found ANYTHING it wouldn't be released? Somehow see the light of day? That alone tells there's nothing there. I remember the good old days.....when there was evidence of a crime then the investigation was to find the person that did it? Now......they target a person and the investigation is to try to find a crime! ass backwards...........

Jehovah's Witness / ex-JW Suicide Rate?
by Simon init's no secret that both remaining a jw or leaving the wts can take a toll on mental health.
some will suffer from depression and ultimately some will have thoughts of suicide and a few will succumb to those.. but i don't recall ever seeing any hard stats or studies on it though.
i'm sure we all know of some people who have committed suicide but i don't know if, because you may have loose association with a much larger pool of people through the religion, that this only seems higher or maybe not be actually higher than the general population.. what i mean is, you go to a kh here there maybe 100-150 people, you attend circuit and district conventions with many tens of thousands - if any one person commits suicide then you likely hear about it and it becomes part of the anecdotal 'evidence' that is then put forward as a fact that there is a higher rate ... but is there?.

I personally know of two. One was a teenage boy and the other was a man who got his letter for reinstatement denied. I have heard but not seen that the latter is more common than people know.

Will the talk where They say treat inactive ones as apostates back fire?
by Crazyguy ina few years ago they had a similar talk and my mother stopped talking to my sister.
after a few weeks the sister called and when mom told her my sister said but i love your my mother.
something to that effect.

Really is a crazy new rule or whatever it is. But perfect for the JW gossip train, which they are amazingly great at. If someone is in a different hall, how would you know they're inactive? I'm in a city with about 8 congregations, how would anyone not in mine know I haven't been going for the past year?? Enter the gossip train....."have you heard ____ hasn't been going to meetings???"

Could we use the new shunning guidelines to our advantage?
by Island Man inaccording to new, officially published guidelines, jws can now shun a person who has not been disfellowshipped from the congregation.
i see this guideline being abused by many jws who have an axe to grind with a fellow jw.
for example, let's say sister peinindiass rubs sister sensitive the wrong way.

Is there a link to the new guidelines?

They stopped by work yesterday to "see how I was doing." All I do is stay calm.....gracious.........thank them for coming, I appreciate their concern, we're good, I have their phone number, if I ever need anything I'll be sure to call them. The visits have been further and further apart. Important to remember to say as little as possible but don't be rude. Give them nothing and they have nothing to report to the other elders.
