Here's what I would do....I was in this same spot last year. The C.O. was in town and they were calling around and stopping in on "inactive"ones. What I did was turn it into small talk. I didn't ask what the purpose of the visit was.......when thay asked how we were.....what's going on...ect...I gave very short answers. Example...."how are you?"...."very good!" The quiet for a good minute....."we havn't being seeing you around"......"ya i know, we've been busy." Quiet for another minute. It was perfect! lol Then it just turned to small talk. It ended with them saying..."well we'd like to see you more.".....then quiet. Then they said..."well if there's anything we can do to help to get you going again..." I said," I won't hesitate to call you!" That was it. DON'T GIVE THEM ANYTHING! They think in their minds that they are entitled to answers! They are not!! Don't give them the power! They don't have it on their own!

How many would still be in if.....
by Flg8ter ini always wondered.......how many would still be in if there was no fear of being shunned?
i really believe the very few of active witnesses believe that the big "a" is right around the corner.
but, the fear of losing family and friends.......very powerful to keep people in line.

Exwwhyzee....I hear ya. But mom is old school....a die hard and completely off of the internet....... Being a JW is her whole life, sadly...it defines her.
Neon, that's what I'm thinking. So many feel trapped by the shunning policy.

Wish I could be like and do that Flipper! Well done! My problem is my mom.....she's older and fragile (bad heart). To see me walk away from it, i have no idea what that would do to her....

IPCC Climate Change Report........
by cantleave in.....states that there is 95% certainty climate change is man made.
people are still saying we don't need to do anything about it.. if you were told there is a 95% risk of you dying if you don't change your diet, wouldn't you change your diet?.

Ya, he's an idiot! lol I'm more of Libertarian......social liberal, fiscal conservitive.
Cantleave, one of main co-author of that report is a man by the name of Richard Tol. That report was released sometime after the last IPCC report after they had sometime to review the claims and data within. It was peer reviewed by over 1000 scientists. This newest report was just released, and is just an update (#5) of the original report. The dissenting report came out after Update #4. Now, where it gets interesting is that Richard Tol was one of the main authors and researchers of the UN board of Climate Change. Then came the whole"climate-gate" that woke him up. That was the leaked e-mail scandal involving some of the other authors of the IPCC report.
“Well, I have my own article on where the heck is global warming…The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t.”—Dr. Kevin Trenberth, IPCC Lead Author, disclosed Climategate e-mail, Oct. 12, 2009
“I’ve just completed Mike’s [Mann] Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (i.e. from 1981 onwards) and from 1961 for Keith’s [Briffa] to hide the decline.”—Dr. Phil Jones, Director of the Climatic Research Unit, disclosed Climategate e-mail, Nov. 16, 1999
“Also we have applied a completely artificial adjustment to the data after 1960, so they look closer to observed temperatures than the tree-ring data actually were…”—Dr. Tim Osborn, Climatic Research Unit, disclosed Climategate e-mail, Dec. 20, 2006
“…If you look at the attached plot you will see that the land also shows the 1940s warming blip (as I’m sure you know). So, if we could reduce the ocean blip by, say 0.15 deg C, then this would be significant for the global mean—but we’d still have to explain the land blip…”—Dr. Tom Wigley, University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, on adjusting global temperature data, disclosed Climategate e-mail to Phil Jones, Sep. 28, 2008
We, therefore, do not hold the original raw data but only the value-added (i.e. quality controlled and homogenized) data.”—Climatic Research Unit web site, the world’s leading provider of global temperature data, admitting that it can’t produce the original thermometer data, 2011
I mean, there's all kinds of research and dissenting opinions out there. All I'm saying is, keep an open mind....look at everything. Yes there are changing weather patterns, have been for millions of years......
@besty, sorry about the typo........hard time on the lil phone screen. I really have to get something larger, easier to read. But thank you for calling my attention to it!

Never had friends outside of the Org......if Ididn't break out of my shell, opened my eyes...i'd be terrified to lose my JW friends and family! I just wonder that now.......how many would jump ship if shunning was gone??

Unfortunatly the Church of Global CoolingGlobal Warming Climate Change is just like any other faith based religion. In fact it scary how much it mirrors the JW's. You can not look at any data outside of their published reports....about 1000 scientists that are not funded by the governments or the UN came out right away and destroyed the report. There are plenty of false prophecies, in the 70's it was Global Cooling, then the data disproved that....it turned into Global Warming.....then the data disproved that....so now it's "Climate Change." Any dissenting opinions are considered apostasy. And then the biggie!! MONEY......the report is for the UN, and the UN's whole answer to the prolem.......tax America. That's right...money will make sea levels go down......kinda crazy. But...in their eyes.....they have the "Truth".

Why do you think they changed their mind on organ transplants?
by Separation of Powers infrom 1967 to early 1980, the watchtower stated that organ transplants were tantamount to "cannibalism.
" then, suddenly, the position was changed to organ transplants being a "conscience matter.
" so, my question, why the change?

I really believe it's legal in nature. In the 2010 Elders book, in the section regarding what merits a committee meeting, nothing personal health related is mentioned there, not even blood transfusions. I'm not sure if it was in past editions, but something tells me the legal department told them to knock it off!

Faders shunned now?
by Sammy Jenkis inhi all so my family had their c.a.
last weekend and my mother dropped this one on me, she'll now be treating me as a df'd person per info she received from a talk at the assembly.
apparently a fader should be treated as "bad association" given the fact they up and left the holy "truth" to splash around in vomit.. .

The whole marking thing is most of it. It really let's them all personally CHOOSE who should be shunned and who's ok. More or less its a popularity contest. If you're inactive but in the in crowd, you're fine.... no worries. BUT if you're inactive and not real popular...... you must be doing something very bad!!!! I have never been in a hall that did not cliques, or some kind of political hierarchy within the R&F.
