very good points! i especially loved the question in the article about trusting in God or men. i thought, duh put all these sad people think trusting in the GB is really trusting in God when they are only men

Witnesses: Why The 1/19/14 WT Lesson Is Dangerous
by Apognophos intoday's watchtower lesson touched on the history of hezekiah's reign, and then made a surprising modern-day application.
having used my time before the meeting to research the underlying material instead of highlighting my magazine, i personally found this to be an upsetting study, and decided to put this warning here in the hopes that some active witnesses read it.. the most important thing i want to say to you is that the actual flow of events in this bible account were severely misrepresented, and that there are some disturbing implications in the distortions that were made.
1. hezekiah's father ahaz makes himself a vassal to assyria out of fear of their overwhelming might (2 kings 16:7, 8).. 2. upon becoming king, hezekiah rebels against assyria (2 kings 18:7).

Why the 2014 yearbook is the most hypocritical book out now.
by wallievase inthe supposed reason the yearbook is published is to encourage the friends with experiences and seeing growth by numbers.
if that is the case, why not emphasize that more people than ever are partaking at the memorial showing more people supposedly being accepted to heaven which should be great news?

Witness Hypocrisy
by wallievase inif you follow the bible and the bible says to love all, how in the convention letter about special needs can a person be disqualified from receiving help if they arent in good standing?
what does that have to do with attending a convention?.
you are supposedly following the 1st century model- why dont the c.o.s work like paul did?.

How do you have the right to invent questions someone has to answer before they can be baptized, along with a million other opinions put across as facts- blood fractions, porn, masturbation, oral sex, birthdays, etc?

Finished Crisis of Conscience Recently
by wallievase inwell i finally got around to finishing crisis of conscience.
2 things stood out to me most.. 1. the fact that the gb can question beliefs and noone else can.. 2. strangly the most disturbing fact- its a small one- but actually made the biggest impression on me out of the whole book-.
the fact that they agreed to send him a copy of his meeting tapes and then refused and admitted in writing that they lied.. obviously there was much more that i got from it and i do find franz situation unique in that he had a whole support system outside of the "truth" and most today including myself have nothing- if i leave my wife hates me, my family wont talk to me, etc- it doesnt provide any solution for that scenario.. any thoughts on the above points- let me know.

disfellowshipping untruths
by wallievase inif the whole disfellowshipping arrangement is from the bible, where are the scriptures that say you can appeal decisions or that if you are reproved what 'privileges' can be taken away?
or what about the fact that any offense they want can be lumped under uncleanness and used to kick you out?.

wallievase
Oh and I almost forgot the 'necessary business' clause not being in their also

preaching is not the priority
by wallievase inif preaching and reaching everyone was really the goal, why not shut down all bethels and kingdom halls, stop people from wasting time building those complexes and printing literature and just have everyone use just the bible and just meet in homes?
they would have more time to preach and heck more money from bot supporting all these random projects so everyone could work less too..

witnesses do not have biblical precedents for actions
by wallievase incases i was thinking about today- the printing of literature for mass distribution and further the existence of bethel and branch complexes world wide along with kingdom halls(early christians just met in homes).
if you say you follow the bible, how do you create things like this that have no precedent in the bible?

my first post and some questions
by wallievase inthis is my first post after deciding to finally open an account here after months of 'lurking'.. a couple of issues i want to address-.
i have issues with people who go from being a witness to losing all faith in god or the bible which seems to be the case with some members of this site.
i just don't think you can let any religion change how you view god or the bible.. second-i don't feel the gb are bad people, i think most witnesses including them are misguided by something that has been drilled into their heads since they were little and are actually sincere people.

On the contrary doc I really believe most Christian relgion is false in some way whether in tradition or doctrine but I believe as long as they are sincere god appreciates the effort

Please reply, let me know what you think and what my next course of action should be as I think I'm too afraid to leave because of the effects on my wife, family friends, etc.
