i was raised as a jw from the age of 4, didnt take to it until i was befriended by a pioneer who was an elder's wife, and she began a bible study with me because my mom ddnt have time to have bible studies with all of my siblings and me, there are 10 of us.

Only Jehovah's Witnesses
by Yvonne A ini'm just new to this internet stuff and am studying with the jehovah's witnesses at present.please don't take my lack of knowledge as cheek.
i just want to know if it's meant to be only jehovah's witnesses using this site.
i fully intend to become baptised but was wondering if there's any security to prevent people who shouldn't be using the site and are maybe abusing it from doing so.

Hi Yvonne and welcome.
Before dedicating yourself to "Jehovah's Organization" please do your homework.
Read up on JW's and their belief's:
If you have children and one of them were in a life or death situation needing blood - would you deny your child a blood transfusion? If you give them life, blood, you will be disowned by these wonderful God loving people.
If you do become baptized and your children become baptized; if at some point your child decides that they are preaching false testament and decides to stop going are you prepared to turn your back on your child due to disfellowshipment?
Are you prepared to survive Armageddon when the only ones living will be ones that are JW?s? If your family do not participate in the ?love? and ?truth? of the JW?s are you willing to lose them due to their own religious beliefs?
Are you ready to be told what you can and cannot read? Listen to? Attend? Type of car to drive? How to dress? If you are married and your spouse enters ?the truth? with you are you willing to let him be the head of household ? meaning everything he says goes and you do not have the right to disagree? If you have children are you ready to have them ridiculed at school for not celebrating holidays, not participating in sports, not having any friends that are not JW?s?
Are you ready to have your life completely evolve around these people?
Think carefully before you connect completely with this religion.
If you have doubts about an issue you are studying about ASK ASK ASK questions. Read the scriptures they give you, read them again and read the verses surrounding the scripture.
If you have a concern or a question Blondie ? a very knowledgeable lady on this board ? can give you the JW version and any contradiction that the Bible may have on the subject.
And last, are you ready to give up the Internet ? in particularly this website ? due to apostasy?
More than ever before, do your homework before committing.
Deborah
(Raised a JW. Will never return to JW land even at the cost of ?losing? my mom, my sister, nieces and nephew and cousins.)

Donations in WWW box @ KH
by meat pie ini seem to remember that when there was a specific disaster, we were told we could put our donation in the world wide work box with a note attached stating it was for a particular cause (e.g.
hurricane relief work in a specific incident ) am i right in thinking that the donations are collected out of the box and banked?
do the notes get sent seperately to the branch offices?

I can remember in the 70's, we were told to put our money in the WWW contribution box ? same as you were Shirley - and it would get to the brothers and sisters for aid.
(Any chance you are from East Texas?)

I am glad you found this forum. As everyone else has stated; sit back, read a little, and think. Chose for yourself.
Crisis of the Conscience (CoC) is an eye opener. I had to order the book, due to no one in my area carrying it. My husband (whose has never been a JW - but has seen me falling apart at times due to the teachings and my JW family) ask me after getting the book if i was going to find time for him again? I could not put it down! Every emotion imaginable went thru me.
But the main thing that i kept asking myself was "how could my father, as smart as he was, actually believe this!!??!!?? and teach me and my brother and sister to believe it as well!!??" I was/am so angry at him! He was phenomenal in mathematics. He could calculate equations in his head that it would take a typical person 5 or 10 minutes to do on paper. After reading CoC how could he have still believed in ?the truth?? How could he keep beating this in our minds? Simply the mathematics of the WBTS are so out of whack that it is almost impossible not to ?see? that they are full of lies and deceit.
You said that your mom was the ?Queen? ? my dad was the ?King? (elder and all). He died in 2000. It was hard ?going against? his wishes; but you know I am a much happier, warmer person being the way I am now.
And I am no longer afraid of Armageddon being ?right around the corner?. My heart went out to Tsunami, Armageddon never crossed my mind.
(I have been on here awhile - and still can't master the format! can't change the size of the font above)

A "Sobering" idea for New Years: to benefit Asian Tsunami Victims/Survivors
by Fleur ini just had a rare moment of clarity and i wanted to share this idea with you all.
i plan to pass it along to everyone i know, hoping that it might, just might, catch on.
i am proposing a totally painless way for people to reach into their hearts, and wallets, to help those so desperate for aid following this weekend's tragedy in asia.

Frankly, I think we would be much more successful if we put out a public appeal to the 269 billionaires living in America (not to mention the other hundred and something living around the world) to donate just a million dollars of their fortune to help those people. With the stroke of a pen half a billion dollars could be on its way. I really dont understand the rich at all.
Flower are you volunteering to head this up?
I agree with Fleur in her response of
You are a great mother, I can tell, to be raising such a thoughtful son.
Let us know of how many billionaires agree with your proposal.
Fleur - Sorry but i won't give up my champagne on the 1st..... but I will match what i spend to what i send to the relief effort. And i hope, that is as much as i can do, that the money will benefit the ones of need.
it is a great proposal.

Concerning your niece - could you or would you let her stay with you for a while. At 18, she is an "adult" and can leave home. Can you give her a place to stay while she arranges her thoughts of where she goes from here?
You may or may not be able to get your brother "out". Your niece may need you to reach out your hand to her, why don't you ask her?
