My wife and I had already decided we weren't going to the DC this year. But when changed it from the normal venue which is 2 hours away to one that is 5 hours away it just confirmed our decision. I was listening by phone when they made the announcement. First.....oooohs and aaaahs. Then....applause. I was thinking....wtf are you people applauding?

2014 DC: Fewer, but larger venues in the U.S.
by doinmypart inin the u.s. there are fewer venues this year, but they will be held in larger facilities.
as long as i can remember my family travelled no more than 2 hours to attend and in the last few years the dc was local (within a few minutes travel).
this year my family is driving 6 hours to a major u.s. city.

How to Cause a Hardcore JW Brain to Malfunction
by Apognophos ini am leaving it to the reader to decide whether this trick is funny in a cruel way, or potentially beneficial.
it can definitely be used for evil, that is to say, personal amusement.
then again, it could be a kind way to help someone start thinking outside the box.

Most JWs I try to bait into these conversations don't know what they used to believe let alone any "new understandings"

I can't believe how sexist the Borg is!!!
by quellycatface injust letting off a bit more steam.
why can't sisters look after the library or the sound.
what makes the brothers so damned special???.
-
XstuckX
oh yes...."privileges". Like when I was a teenager and my best friend and I ran the sound system at the KH. We would stand in the back and flip the ceiling fan switches off and on lightning fast. So they would turn for just a bit. Then stand stonefaced with the microphones in our hands while a few old folks looked up in puzzlement at the ceiling fans.
To show you how ridiculous it is I haven't been to a meeting in a few months. But whenever I would show up out of the blue they would beg me to run a microphone. Or read the WT. What a joke. Here I am, hardly ever at a meeting. NEVER out in service. But I can have "privileges". Have at it sisters!

Have you noticed the JW child who........?
by Phizzy inhave you seen the jw child who grows up to be the ideal product of the cult from its point of view, and presumably from its indoctrinated parent's point of view?.
that young person is a weirdo !!!.
i can think of a number like this, still a minority fortunately, in that most of the ones i watched grow up either left or did not embrace the thing anywhere near 100%.. but those one-hundred-percenter kids are something to behold !.
-
XstuckX
I feel sorry for them. It's not their fault their wackjob parents are raising them in the cult. Kids don't care about "Jehovah". They care about gaining their parents approval and not getting a whipping if they don't make enough comments at the meeting. Try being forced through that and NOT be a nerd. Or do like I did and turn to drugs and sex as a teenager.

I used to manage a company for an elder who hired many of the Hispanics from a nearby Spanish cong. One of them was an elder who says he was a 'professor' in his home country but could barely spell his own name. He married a white sister who visited his country and came back with her to live with her parents. The Hispanic sisters treated him like a god, bringing him food every day, acting very submissive. He tried to push his weight around with me and I told him his position in the cong meant nothing to me at the jobsite. He was very lazy and one day when I'd had enough of it I told him to get to work.....the sisters are putting you to shame. He told me I was not his boss. I told him that today would be his last day on this job. I told my boss (the elder) that if he came back to work there would be probems. He didn't come back.

How often did you entertain the "Traveling Overseers", and did you regret it afterwards?
by ÁrbolesdeArabia ini found taking the traveling overseers out for a meal, to be a waste of time.
our literature regulary spoke of the upbuilding talk the local congregations received by entertaining our brothers.
now some of the modern cos look at their telecommunication devices, talk of things not related to our ministry or phone it in.

Our CO and his wife are "gluten free". I asked, so they have celiac disease? No, they just feel they are healthier that way. Which is fine and well. However when I was asked to feed them I declined because I'm not gluten free and I'm not going to burden my wife to try and cook some meal that is gluten free just because they think they're healthier that way.
There is an elder in our hall who goes out of his way to shove his head as far up their rear end as he possible can. He always provides hospitality for them. He hires the poor people in the cong to come and clean his house from top to bottom every 6 months because his wife is too lazy. I showed up at their house one evening when the CO was there with his wife. There was music playing and the CO and his wife were slow dancing in the living room with the elder and his wife. I thought it was fairly odd.

if we don't all unite, we may win a few battles but Watchtower will win the WAR.
by excaliber into thank you for taking the time to read this, because i feel that it is extremely important.
over the years we have been waring against the watchtower, and our battle field has been the internet.and we have been very successful in establishing discussion forums and online resorces exposing false teachings and we have used youtube to further shed light on the watchtower, we have even written books to this end.. .
yes we have attacked watchtower at its weakest point, the internet and we have been able to do this as small groups and even individualy.

If you're going to fight the JWs are you also ready to fight all other organized religion? I have no problem with someone who has FULL KNOWLEDGE of what they're getting into and still want to be one of them. I don't want to be one of them. The problem I have is most of the time people don't know how deep it is until it's too late.

Strangest Local Needs?!?!?!?!
by thepackage inwhat was the starngest local needs topic you ever heard???
?
-
XstuckX
Not a local needs, but after a week of our KH reeking of raw human sewage and the sisters complaining to high heaven, the brothers decided they needed to hire a plumber to come and check out our pipes to determine if there was a backup somewhere.
One particularly disgusting brother came forward to say his wife had made a whole mess of chili and he had been eating it for leftovers all week.....thus giving him horrible gas. So basically he was sitting there sh!tting his pants all meeting getting a chuckle that everyone thought our sewer line was backed up.
