Expedite Elder Appointments?
by Simon Templar ini am out of touch with any new or modified procedures for elder appointments.
does anyone know, if an elder had deleted himself, and several years later wants to resume involvement, is there now an accelerated method for re-appointment?
does only the boe appoint or is the co concurrance and service dep't appointment still needed?

Simon,
In my opinion it all depends how much the service committee likes you. Yes they have to wait f or the CO to come. In our hall anyway. Why do you ask? Do you want to be an elder again?

Applaud the Blessings?
by braincleaned ini found it interesting that the 2012 service year report showed a global increase of 1.90% while the global demography is growing 1.14% a year.. not something to get too snotty about, in my opinion.. if the jw are blessed with that level of growth, what can be said about the mormon's 2.31% growth the same year?.
or the islam annual growth rate of about 6.40% a year(according to the u.n.)?.
who is god blessing here again?.

hey Phizzy,
Your point about the NNWT so true, especially with all the elitism in the UK, most JWs are pretty cheesed off

OND,
I think you have made a good choice. If you keep your brain active and really understand why things are nonsense and can explain it in your own words when you exit you will more likely stay out for good.
I was a full on JW, now I am a full on Apostate soon to exit with fanfare. Thats me and what I need to deprogram. Everyone is different though. Do what is best for you without hurting others. Keep coming here to get advice. You migh find my recent thread interesting, take a look if you like.

Take care, I am off to the meeting now

Dear Simon,
I want to give you a great big public THANK YOU!!!!
JWN has been instrumental in my deprogramming. I still have many lingering behaviours, like reading the days text. Why???????????????? I know the answer, indoctrination. So if I know the answer why am I reading it every morning. The comments are nonsense most of the time and the scripture is usually misapplied.
It is is a habit that we just do on auto drive. So to get me out my habit, JWN is my new days text.
Thank you Simon very much indeed. xxxxxxx
All my warm love to you 70wksfyrs xxxxxx
How has Simon helped you here at JWN?

Yes I prepare for all the meetings, just done the WT for tomorrow. Like searcher said when you know TTATT you see it from a different perspective. Its actually quite entertaining how stupid some of the indoctrination is.
In para 7 and 14, they were really heavy about not listening to negative speech, and on the whole it was making JWs feel unworthy and imperfect.
I wil be making sure my son knows which parts are nonsense and we do maths during the public talk
hehehehehe

Hello..this is my story..
by Lozhasleft ini'm pleased to have found this site...i've browsed a little ...read quite a lot and gasped at some stories, giggled at the one liners and nodded in recognition of others' strong opinions and can relate to a great deal.. i'll try and keep my intro as brief as possible for anyone kind enough to listen.. i got involved with the witnesses in the late 70's in the uk.
i was in my early 20s and had had a love and fascination for the bible since my difficult childhood.
i soon brought my life into 'line' although it took a long time for me to pack up the smoking which didnt go down well in those days when 6 months of study should have been enough and if you hadnt cracked it then it was suggested that you were some kind of loser.... i reared my 4 children in the 'truth' as well as i could but i cant claim that we were a 'strong' family in their terms...just muddled along really..my husband at the time was a very difficult and abusive man and home life wasnt easy for any of us with his anger, jealousy and violence.

Loz,
Thanks for inviting me to read this. Its so close to my story you wouldnt believe. We are in the UK too. My son at 11 says he wants to live with me because his dad is violent and drinks too much, but I keep on telling him not to treat women how his dad does. He tells me now he wont, I do hope he doesn't treat me how your adult boys treated you.
How is your relationship with them now compared to 3 years ago when you first wrote this?

Spirituality versus Religion
by Fernando inthere seem to be many ways to explain the difference.
the one below seems moderate - even neutral.
your thoughts?.

You said
I am moved by music and poetry and art.
Can you see them with arms and legs when they move you? Do they pick you up or push you? Do they move you far away? Are you awake when they move you? Do ghosts move you too?
