triplets are born in a remote village in a third world country.. the parents are killed in a massacre and the children end up separated into three different orphanages.. through sheer circumstance each is adopted by deeply religious parents only to grow up, one as a jew, one as a muslim and one as an atheist in a christian family.. by means of an unaccountable coincidence, all three board the same airliner for a flight to los angeles.. the airliner encounters terrible weather and crash lands in the ocean while trying to make a landing at lax.. air sea rescue teams are able to save the lives of only three passengers.. yes--the triplets!.
injured and traumatized in the crash, they are transported to cedar-sinai hospital for medical treatment.. at some point in all the excitement and news coverage, some bright soul notices each of the injured survivors is identical in appearance.
an already extraordinary news event suddenly goes viral as investigation turns up all the known facts.. three families converge in the hospital waiting room and confront each other asking obvious questions and sorting things out for themselves.. within a week the three crash survivors are conscious and able to sit up.

my mind was wandering last night, and i though of this as a reply to a jw.. "oh, your the people who believe 8 men in brooklyn, ny are directing the world's only true religion.".
the sentence is a fact that they can't deny, but clearly shows delusion.
any other one sentence "stingers"?.

i must admit i was slow to wake up to the search button to find out about a subject which may have been thrashed to death years ago.only to try to revitalise it in my ignorance.
this is not a fault with newbies .bear with me .i am not computer literate .but is it possible or even plausible that newbies are given a basic instruction on how to find information using the search function ?
surely it could save a lot of needless repetition.just saying.. smiddy.
Absolutely not.
The purpose of a discussion forum is to discuss. It doesn't matter how many times a topic has been hashed and rehashed, it deserves to be hashed again for the help and healing benefits it provides new participants.
Aside from dissecting the current literature, which in itself is rehashed WT drivel, practically every topic imaginable has been done to death on this forum and will continue to be done for each new generation of awakening JWs.
ok so i have already been talked to about this and i always have difficulty finding a retort.
my friend/elder condtantly tells me to visit bethel to prove its gods org--efficient, obedient, loving place, yadda yadda.
and he also uses how many go out and preach the same message, how no matter where you go youll get the same loving treatment, follow the bible as best they can (ha), show lots of love, do t celebrate pagan holidays, etc etc.
DS211: Is it possible that when given how to recognize followers of Christ the bible says They would have love amongst themselves? Could it be that it talked about each individual having love within them and not as a group of people?
Just expanding on this thought...
It would have been easier if Jesus gave some sort of clue that led specifically to the Watchtower organization. Instead, he used a quality that is genuinely felt and expressed by people of all religions, all walks of life.
By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.
People who display this quality are not hard to identify. They exist in every religious organization on earth, and at the Kingdom Halls too. So as a worldwide group of people who genuinely love each other, you cannot possibly coral them into one organization and point your finger at them and say, "There! Those people are the ones showing love!" Identifying people who show genuine love does not zero in on the WT organization.
This plays in well with the scripture at Romans 2:15:
They are the very ones who demonstrate the matter of the law to be written in their hearts, while their conscience is bearing witness with them and, between their own thoughts, they are being accused or even excused.
Again, this is not a group of people you can point your finger at and identify. For this exercise, only God can look into their hearts and identify them.
One more scripture at Revelation 7:9:
After these things I saw, and, look! a great crowd, which no man was able to number, out of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, dressed in white robes; and there were palm branches in their hands.
When you think about it, is there anything in the bible that points a finger at a single organization, a very isolationist organization at that?
this was reported to me by an attendee: during the watchtower, a brother commented that "we shouldn't question things that we don't have the full facts about, such as why is it so expensive to have an assembly at the grantville assembly hall?
it would be far cheaper to rent our own space to have an assembly than it is to use grantville.
we don't have all the facts so we don't know the reasons why and it isn't our place to question".
<--- Taking bets that this guy will be in the library answering uncomfortable questions by the end of the week.
to any jws watching and reading here, please know thiis:.
.... we know how you must be feeling so bad about being at a website like this, yet inside you are somehow questioning and not wanting to question... relax right now.. your computer won't explode -- reassuring smile -- all you are doing is asking a question or seeking an answer... right?
isn't that how one gains knowledge, finds truth?.
Nice way to put it MW. I felt very awkward coming to this site the first time also.
Okay, maybe the first dozen times.
But the questions I had compelled me. Things were not adding up. I was reading one thing from the bible and experiencing something disturbingly different at the Kingdom Hall and out in service. I always chalked it up to my own spiritual weakness or inexperience and tried to let it go but it kept nagging at me.
Imagine my surprise when the pieces began falling into place by reading information from websites the WT society always warned us against.
Coincidence?

jwn has been instrumental in my deprogramming.
I still have many lingering behaviours, like reading the days text. Why????????????????
I continued reading the daily taxt for several months after I left. It's a value-of-spiritual-things thing. It took me some time to ween myself off the WT diet.
If you're looking for a scriptural daily text or thought for the day, try one of these sites:

i may be suffering twice for having left the jehovah's witnesses and watching my jw wife and other family members stay in.
once for the changed situation (or loss) and another time for expecting to make progress in getting over it.. the 1969 book on death and dying by elisabeth kubler-ross introduced us to the kubler-ross model , commonly referred to as the " five stages of grief.
" they are very helpful, but the original idea of the book and the hypothesis was that when a person is faced with the reality of impending death , he or she will experience a series of emotional stages: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.. it isn't always the case, but those stages are often felt by terminally ill patients.
If the Watchtower (active spouse) is still in your life then you're essentially still in an abusive relationship. How can you expect closure, healing, or any other positive development in that kind of environment?
