Thanks for diagnosing my problem, Skipper! I've always known I process reality different than others, but now, I know the reason for it.
BTW, are you using those sears catalogs or can I borrow them?
do the anointed have a beautiful minds or bicameral minds?.
as you sit here quietly reading this post you are probably not aware that im about to expose you to an intellectual shock.
using published research material from perhaps one of the ten most important books in the 20th century; i have come to the conclusion that the anointed or 144,000, sometimes known as the faithful and discrete slave have only marginal consciousness and frequently experience auditory hallucinations.

today i had a thought and it sickened me to think it.
i thought to myself 'it is possible that satan has blinded all of us and led us away.
so i started to list the reasons why i know that the truth is a lie.
Flower,
It sounds like you are experiencing the lingering effects of the brainwashing you've been subjected to. What you've said is exactly what the JWs want you to believe. They need a means for keeping their folks in line, and fear is a very effective tool utilized by them in their quest to control you. Don't let them succeed. Stand strong and keep fighting it, one day at a time. Good luck Flower!
is it because we're a cynical lot?.
maybe because we were the first generation of latch-key kids who learned how to raise ourselves?.
what is it that makes it so 'hard to lie to a gen xer?
Bravo, Reborn!
I have a similar story, but I was out at the age of 14, and never ever thought of pioneering. I hated my "internment" in the JW cult, and the slavery (i.e., among other things, forced marketing for the corporation cult without compensation)and abuse that accompanied it. Education helped keep me away from hell on earth aka "being in the truth." I've been out for 22 years now, and only regret that I wasn't able to get out earlier.
It makes me happy to hear of stories like yours. I have no problem with adults choosing to worship how they please, but I really resent the treatment JW kids are subjected to. Good for you!

35 is the cutoff? I don't think so. Billy Idol was the lead singer of a band known as "Generation X" when I was in junior high school (1978 - 1980). That was before his successful solo career. BTW, I'm 36.

Island Woman,
Where do you think I've been? I've been spending all my time watching you ala peeping tom style, so I didn't have time to read the society's admonitions about counseling women. BTW, nice thong!

Thanks Simon and doinmypart for the elder letter!
In addition to being one of the annointed, I'm now interested in becoming an elder! "A woman in such an emotional state may be more vulnerable and may be prone to develop improper feelings toward an elder meeting with her." Hoo haa, I'm going to do some sheperding calls and cultivate some of those improper feelings with those "vulnerable" women!
I knew there was some benefit to being an elder!!!!!

Thi Chi,
I think I overreacted a bit in that thread, so I'm also sorry.
I agree with your view on asset forfeiture. Here in Cali, we had a case of a landowner in Malibu who had a large ranch (I don't recall size, but around 50 acres of some of the most expensive land in Cali). His last name was Scott. His live in girlfriend was spending $100 bills around town, which allegedly led to suspicion. The park service began running title searches on Mr. Scott's land, salivating at the idea of an asset forfeiture. Law enforcement conducted aerial surveillance, and based on such surveillance, a search warrant was obtained to search for a large marijuana crop Mr. Scott was allegedly growing.
Law enforcement raided Mr. Scott's house, and Mr. Scott, who was drunk at the time, viewed these officers, who were clad in black, as intruders, and armed himself. He was shot dead, and the raid turned up absolutely no marijuana (or any other contraband), not even a seed. The decedent's girlfriend filed a $5M lawsuit against the county, and the case created much controversy due to the absolute lack of contraband and the title searches performed by the park service prior to the raid.
Many in the community viewed Mr. Scott's death as a very unfortunate result of the asset forfeiture laws in this state.

Thanks for the news, ThiChi.
I presume you are in favor of legalization, which is interesting given your adamant support for the death penalty. You are definitely not one who can be easily categorized as left or right.
Peace.

ThiChi,
I wanted to end this boring thread, but since you continue to attempt to fabricate statements and implications, I'm going to expose you for the liar you are.
First, here's my original statement:
Two wrongs don't make a right, and I am embarrassed that our country has not only overwhelmingly embraced the death penalty, but has also elected a man who as Governor of Texas presided over more executions than any other governor in our history.Based on this statement, you responded as follows:
You made the claim that Texas is somehow over killing the killers. You are just plain wrong. Your uninformed claims is what is really wasting space here. Please get your facts right....As anyone can clearly see, I've never made the claim that "Texas is somehow over killing the killers," nor have I ever implied/inferred such a claim. You have fabricated a statement, attributed it to me, and attacked it. You are the one who needs to get your facts straight, and refrain from the outright lies you've committed here.
There's nothing implicit about my claim, it's very explicit. I am disgusted with the popular acceptance of the death penalty in this country. This was stated, not implied. Period. All this bullshit about implications, inferences, etc., will not extricate you from the hole you've dug. Admit when you're wrong, and move on. Your accusations are false, and, accordingly, any statements you've made, purporting to be fact, should be scrutinized carefully, as you have demonstrated a lack of veracity. Your performance here should be put on your resume when you apply for that elder job; they'll probably give you extra credit for being a liar.
I have nothing further to add. I hope you enjoyed the news of the execution and have an idea; maybe you can contact the decedent's relatives and laugh at them to add to their pain.

You stated: "I am embarrassed that our country has not only overwhelmingly embraced the death penalty, but has also elected a man who as Governor of Texas presided over more executions than any other governor in our history."Your Inference here is...? what is your point here? I now use the word "implied" that goes with my use of "somehow".....
ThiChi,
Your original accusation follows:
You made the claim that Texas is somehow over killing the killers. You are just plain wrong. Your uninformed claims is what is really wasting space here. Please get your facts right....My quote doesn't even come close to "implying" that "Texas is somehow over killing the killers." It appears that you might have left the JWs, but their teachings are still influencing your conduct. Similar to the JWs, you've tried to weasel out of your false statements, but this is an apostate board, and we won't let you do that here.
I won't respond further as there is no point debating with someone who fabricates statements, attributes them to me, and then responds to his own fabrication.
BTW, the Brit was executed. ThiChi, maybe you should hold a celebration for this loss of life, and you can revel in the emotional trauma presently being experienced by the decedent's relatives.
