BTW, I forgot to mention:
I've thanked Simon and Angharad in the past for the time, effort and resources they put into this board, but I've forgotten to mention the moderators. It's been a while since I've posted here, so I don't recall the entire cast, but I did want to thank E-man for what I think is a fine job of moderation here. All of these folks are performing this service on a volunteer basis, and their service is unquestionably necessary for the continued growth and success of this forum. The moderators are human too; those who gnash their teeth about what they perceive as unfair treatment either overlook this fact or are too caught up in their own self-righteousness to comprehend it. The multitudes of threads on this subject serve only to distract all of us from the real issues discussed here. Let's move on!

The ironic aspect of this forum is that much of the kingdom hall conduct that many ex-JWs complain of is frequently engaged in by some ex-JWs here. Food for thought: You can leave the Watchtower organization, but does it ever really leave you?

Kingdom Hall Spankings
by JH inmost meetings i went to, children were brought to the washrooms in the back to be disciplined.
often i could hear a child yell or cry due to the spanking given by the parent.
people in the hall would have that look on their face meaning that it was alright to discipline a child by spanking him.
I still believe that a two-year-old will only understand a stinging bottom.
Fortunately, modern civilized society, excluding Jehovah's Witnesses, is collectively moving to a higher consciousness in this area. Violence begets only more violence. Teaching children that it's ok to use violence to address your problems contributes to the pervasiveness of violence in our world. Using violence to compel robotic behavior (e.g., infants sitting still through two hours or more of age-inappropriate drivel due to threat of beatings) will most likely lead to future regrets, as it did for my parents.

No, but I did think it was Armageddon when the Lakers were beaten by the Spurs in game 6.

The very existence of this thread is a sad commentary on the treatment of children by many Jehovah's Witnesses. I too was a victim of and witnessed much physical abuse during my years as a child slave of the Watchtower Corporations. I would give examples but I think enough have been given by a number of individuals here.
The subhuman gristle that constitutes the "governing body" ought to be taken out and caned, in order to afford them an opportunity to empathize with the multitudes of Jehovah's Witness children who have been subjected to physical abuse at the hands of their parents who in many cases were encouraged to engage in such despicable behavior by publications of the Watchtower or the pressure of their peers in the kingdom hall.
Many witnesses will discount these horrid accounts by denial and/or placing the blame on others. However, at our kingdom hall, and at many mentioned in this thread, parents physically abused their children on Kingdom Hall property, with full knowledge of the elders who were present in the hall. Their failure to take action to stop and/or prevent future occurrences is indicative of their tacit approval of such abuse. Jehovah's Witness denials of these events, in addition to being untruthful, are disingenuous at best.
Those who abuse children deserve nothing more than a jail cell, regardless of their religious affiliations.

Do you ever think about returning to Jehovah
by ikhandi inmaybe i was just curious to hear what they were going to discuss.
i went to the two day circuit assembly.
for those who wonder, its theme was taken from psalms 37:3 it's theme trust in jehovah and do good.

I can't understand that feeling, as I never enjoyed being there in the first place. I, like many if not most JW children, was an involuntary participant, coerced to attend meetings and peddle the snake oil via the threat of severe beatings. If you really enjoyed circuit assemblies, then have at it! I'm sure they'll welcome you back, that is, after you suffer enough humiliation to afford the elders an opportunity to reinstate you.
BTW, I've been out for over 20 years, and have never had such an inclination or desire.

Need some info on Pistols
by jelly ini am thinking of getting a pistol and i am not sure of what kind to get.
i went to an indoor range today and tried out a glock .45 (the smaller model) and a heavier .45. i found the glock rested well in my hand but i could shoot much more accurately with the heavier (and longer barreled) pistol.
any way, i am looking for a home protection / target practice pistol and would like any input on what caliber to get.

Use a baseball bat. It's more enjoyable and heck, it's part of an American pastime!
