  things that make you go AGGGGGGGGGH!!!!!!!!!!

  kingdom melodies did it for me everytime.. i tired so hard not to have uncharitable thoughts about the ppl who wrote the tunes and words to the kingdom melodies.

  there were about 2 that i could stomach.. the rest were so totally uninspiring and mechanical.. .i can say that apart from maybe 2 i didnt get any up lifting joy from them.. elders complained that ppl wern't learning the tunes and singing properly.they got realy irritated over it .but i really really hate the dam songs .

  eveyone sounded totally joyless

  images of the destruction of the world at armageddon are legion in the societie's literature and much of it is documented on the web.. i've seen most of them, but for some reason this one seems to have escaped the catalogue.

  at least i don't remember seeing it anywhere.. it's from the 'does god really care about us' brochure on page 19:.

  The two guys at the forefront of the picture reminds me of the reaction I recieved from my service overseer when I told him I was coming off of the pioneer list.

  what defines your life now?

  as a jehovahs witness, our lives were clearly "defined".

  for those of us who are no longer in the "truth", what "drives" your life now?.

  for me, it is my kids ( 12, 9, 4--busy--busy--busy) ; my wife; my career; i live by my own personal value system ( tried, tested and working).. the absence of the superimposed restrictive grid of the jw lifestyle has allowed my life to blossom.

  Just curious, what have some of you done with your exspensive book bags?

  i use my book bag to store my computer soft ware in its perfect for that.

  and as for all the old issues of magazines i used them to start my wood stove on those cold mornings.

  one time i asked for a lot of older issues from the friends so i could use them to line the bottom of my camp tent, they were more than happy to give them to me.

  Yesterday we bought our Very First Christmas Tree!

  well, actually, i did, but with the blessings of the family.

  it's fake (too many allergies in the house to risk a real one), pre-lit, and 7 feet tall.

  i think it's going to be gorgeous.

  Do u know any JW"s that have suicided?

  sorry if this is a sad question, but i know of 3 jw's that have suicided.

  i haven't known any personally, but i was wondered if you know any or know of any jw's that have suiced?

  and do you know the reason why?

  Yes I know someone who commited sucide. She was disfellowshipped and everyone including her parents shunned her completly even though she suffered greatly from depression. Truly unbelievable how her parents of all people could completly ignore her even though at that time more than ever she needed the love and attention to get through those horrible and difficult times.

  Bottom line, her family and her religion are greatly responsible for this lovely persons death, even though neither one would ever admit to it. In fact to this day her parents still blame everything on her depression and on the course she took without taking any repsonsiblity themselves. Truly Disgusting!!

  ok - some of this may be personal and some may not want to answer - -i know there are loads of ex-elders and one or two serving elders on this board, there is at least onn ex-missionary on here also -- are there any ex cos dos branch -- there is obviously at laest 1 ex-bethelite -- can some one clue me in what "rank" sorry to use that phrase it truly angers me really -- are people who are able to speak on this board

  More on Witnesses and charitable works (not)

  my wife went to a meeting at our church today to plan a missionary trip to kenya for next march.

  the people she met with are part of a group that has built a school, an orphanage, and an aids clinic.

  she has decided that her preschool is going to help get supplies for the kids, not a hard task, they have nothing.. this sparked an ugly memory (inretrospect).

  Take away food and water from anyone of the governing body and then let's see if they say " let's look to the new system". I'm sure there would be a change of policy very quickly. They are very cold and callous bastards!!!
