They can't. Have they not been getting it wrong for 130 years already? Things are not about to change. A false prophet does not suddenly become a true one over night. They usually get taken outside the city gates and are stoned.

If the bible is "a letter from God", why is it that only the GB can interpret it?
by stuckinarut2 inwe know that witnesses often use the illustration "the bible is like a letter from god.
a letter from a loving father to all his children etc".
so in this letter he says "he desires none to be destroyed, but all to survive etc".

I wonder if it's actually a love of music. It goes a bit deeper than that. It may just be a love of true freedom. And music was the thing that gave her that freedom.
My friends used to think and say I was obsessed about my motorbike.. and also my guitar... and then my camera. They were wrong. I actually did not care about any of these things.. what I cared about was the sense of freedom to be and express myself each one gave me.
.. but I can never love any of these things more than I loved my mother. I have lost many cameras, a few bikes, and a whole bunch of guitars. No problem, all replacable.
But when I lost my mother, I nearly died. For me there is no comparison. (but then my mother was never a witness, maybe that fact is not insignificant)

should there be a rule against posting PMs ?
by MissFit inmost people feel that it is unethical to post private messages.. how ever there does not seem to be a posting rule against it.. some people unfamiliar with posting on boards may not realize that it is not done to post private messages .
( even though it would seem self evident with the word private in it.).
so what do you think about making it an official posting rule?.

What would be nice is to have the option to block people either from them PM'ing you or if you just don't want to see their posts or have any interaction what so ever. Like you can do on Facebook.

Watchtower Tells Us "Employers Seek JWs Only" Yet Most JW Employers Avoid Hiring JWs, Why?
by BucketShopBill inhere's a thought: we're told over and over how employers sing the praises of their jw employees, sometimes with a vague quote about how 'if we could only hire jws, we would as they are so honest'.
however, while some jw employers themselves may hire jw employees (usually cheap entry level positions), most don't.
in fact, many jw's in general who have businesses have a rule not to do work with jws, even those in their congregation.

I have worked a lot with witnesses. When I was 18 I was heavily exploited by a witness building firm.. doing seriously hard manual labour that started at 4am and finished often after dark around 6pm for 6 days a week. For this slave labour I was paid a measly £35 a week. Then I would turn up at meetings covered in building dust and dirt and be looked down on for falling asleep during the ministry school and for not wearing a shirt and tie.
They can be very precious about their work. They have the idea that everything they do and say and touch and think is Holy.. so even if they are scrubbing your floors they think that their labour is sanctified.. and they expect you to think the same.
Yes some people like to employ witnesses but usually only for very low, unskilled entry level menial work.

I loved this... what a beautiful girl, so happy for her. Free and joyful, music will do that to you. Very few things can liberate you like being a musician.
Her singing..

GB member Anthony Morris mentions concerned JW letter at RC
by Acluetofindtheuser ingb member anthony morris mentioned a letter that was sent to bethel by a concerned jw fearing the gt.
he mentioned it on the last sunday talk.
i always wondered if any letter sent to bethel ever reached gb eyes.

Anthony said that was crazy because the person writing in doesn't have faith in God's providing power.
Why did not a single person put their hand up and ask why then are the governing body asking for endless cash donations from every single congregation and org member on earth??

Losing Faith in Faith..
by Dis-Member ini came across this lecture at 3am not being able to sleep by dan baker.
it details his transition from christian fundamentalist to atheist and the various shades in-between.
he realises that every denomination of christian can open the bible and prove to you that they have the right interpretation and everyone else is wrong.

@Marantha..
I did not ask or invite you into this forum. You were here well before I knew you existed. I just saw a post you commented on and decided to ask you how you personally managed to find God and Jesus and have a personal relationship with both. That's all. I have been very respectful all teh time. It was not a date so no need to be angry or offended. I have always thanked you for your time and comments but it's just a conversation and not a debt. Don't take it so personally. I don't even know you.
I'm sorry also but you were not able to answer any question satisfactorily but now instead just blame and shoot me down for not having faith in your words. For words is all that they are.
You then tell me if I don't believe your words.. or words that you quote that I will be burned in a fiery hell for all eternity. The same hell that you never believed in as a witness and now as a non witness you do believe in again. Hop scotch anyone?
Forgive me for not being able to equate a God of love with the god you now describe who burns people in unquenchable fire for ever if they fail through little fault of their own to love him. The Bible from my understanding does not even teach such a thing.
Creating a place called hell to torture people merely for being imperfect is not a very loving thing to do which ever way you try to bend it.
May I ask you since leaving the witnesses.. have you joined another church or denomination? Care to name it? Or are you doing this all by yourself and using all your own interpretations?

JW Organization is occasionally spirit-guided! Here is the proof!
by exWTslave inplease follow the sequence of events connected with a bethel and see what you can conclude!.
1) when brach committee took a decision like a money-minded corporation, a conscientious bethelite (who is my close friend) wrote to the gb.. 2) gb took the bc into task, and directed bc to reverse its decision in that particular case.. 3) in time bc took revenge on the bethelite and removed his bethel-eldership on fabricated charges.. 4) gb withdraws the very arrangement of bethel eldership from all its branches!.
5) after one year, bc felt that their revenge was neutralized because of the unexpected withdrawal of bethel-eldership itself, again fabricated charges with the help of false witnesses and dismissed and disfellowshipped that bethelite.. 6) after two years the two bc members who orchestrated all the above events were sent out of bethel in great dishonor, virtually into wilderness ordinary publishers!.

Such presumptuousness to even assume that God is remotely interested in this man made Bethel farce.

Useful list Fernando thank you for sharing. What period of time would you say it's take to go through all those phases/stages?
I'd say I'm only at stage one.
identity crisis (who am I, what do I believe)
.. and what's helping is:
- voracious and relentless reading/writing/speaking/meditating

Ablebodiedman no one is reproaching you. That is just seriously delusional. My entire thread is full of sincere questions on if or how one can have a relationship with God and Jesus and you think I'm now fullfilling prophecy by imagining that I am persecuting you?
I don't think any of these people have found Jesus at all.. they have no real genuine wisdom, depth, knowledge or understanding, love or humility instead just a self-congratulatory, superior smugness.
I'm beggining to see that some are really not at all well..
