Who's voice would you really like to have?
by Latte in.
if you had the chance to 'come back' as a different person, who's voice would you most like to have?
for me it would have to be either linda ronstadt or barbra streisand, failing that... shakira.

Lurkers - Confused
by Mystery ini am a newbie and apparently very naive.
i in reading different threads, lurkers have been mentioned.
my initial thought was "lurking" meant people like me reading for awhile and eventually posting.

Seems to me, if you are worried about being stalked by members of the Cong. just don't put your name or address info in the profile section.
I would personally like to put a picture in my postings, but alas the profile section isn't working.

Unusual statement in June 1, 2003 Watchtower
by Smiles inin the second study article of the june 1, 2003 watchtower, discussing how jehovah's witnesses should react when "gog of magog" (satan the devil) attacks them just before armageddon, page 21, paragraph 16 says, in part:.
how will god's servants react?.
"as never before, true christians will then need to place their confidence in fellow worshipers authorized by jehovah and his reigning king to take the lead.

I would think it would be talking about the governing body as Fellow Worshipers. I don't believe any of the GB are annointed anymore. About 2 years ago all of the annointed left the governing body to focus more on providing spiritual food. So they would have to refer to the GB as fellow worshipers. Of course they could be talking about the elders too. But why would they not suggest you put all of your trust in Jehovah, being the supreme judge and all. Why would you put your faith in men? Doesn't the bible tell not to rely on earthling man but on Jehovah?

Witness Cruises
by undercover inanother post on another thread about a witness cruise got me to thinking about when the dubs would block whole sections of cabins on cruise ships and have "witness cruises".
i never went on one myself, but i knew a few that did.
i heard some pretty sordid stories.

I think I started this. We went on several cruises, but they weren't called Witness cruises. A sister in a local congregation was a travel agent and she would get really good deals in November and ask around to see if anyone would like to take advantage of them. Of course one person would say yes and the recruiting would begin. I went on my first one at age 14 with some of my girlfriends and three more after that. Us girls had a great time, scoping for guys, drinking on international waters and dancing in the disco all night after the parentals had gone to bed. We weren't rich or anything, unless you consider living in a single wide trailer on a rented lot with a cow pasture in the back rich. They were just really reasonable prices. The elders and MS that went on them were OFF THE HOOK. It was like they finally let loose or something. We did have a WT study on one of them though, that blew.

Welcome to the board. This is definately not an apostate board. I have seen those, and trust me you will know one if you see one, so don't feel bad. The main reason, and I think you will find the same thing, is that everyone here is intelligent and open minded and have many discussions exploring both sides of the JW religion. Hope you enjoy it, I know I have.

Witnesses and Dating (An Essay)
by SYN inby [syn],
introduction
unclean thoughts are what happen when you see a particularly fine specimen of the sex you enjoy looking at the most and you consider what you would like to do with them.

Great essay, but around here you aren't allowed to sit beside someone of the opposite sex at the meeting if you are both single because then everyone assumes you are dating. North Carolina, go figure. You can however sit beside each other in the car or at the movies or even in a restaurant but NOT in the house of god!!! Plus, even serious daters and engaged couples have to take a chaperon with them everywhere. If you got a cool chaperon to come with you however, they usually left the two of you alone while they read a book or something. You guys had it good.

Quote from the WT, i.e. Yoga. Opinions?
by unique1 in"so once again we ask: 'can yoga be practiced simply as a physical exercise to develop a healthy body and a relaxed mind, without any involvement with religion?
' in view of its background, the answer would have to be no.
ok, i know yoga comes from a religious background, but i have been taking a yoga class for several months, and if there was any thing religious i would have stopped the class, but there is nothing.

Wow!!! Look what I have started. This has turned into quite the debate. I personally am with Billygoat (who's picture certainly doesn't look like a billygoat) and the others that Yoga only has a spiritual connotation if you want it to. I really enjoy my class. It has helped my posture greatly. Whoever said they shook while holding the poses, join the club, but hey that is why it is a workout.
Megadude, yoga does involve situps, so I guess all exercise should be banned.
Thanks for all the opinions guys!

Organization Books.
by refiners fire inyou know, there is nothing like the pleasure of looking on your bookshelf and seeing all those dub books in their hard bound covers and their pretty colours.
you can arrange them all kinds of ways, putting all the yellow ones together and the blue ones together .then you can put the green graded ones in the middle creating a flowing rainbow effect.
looks nice.

Goodwill received alot of my bound volumes. UGLY. All that boring brown color. When they came out with the CD that had them all on there, I graciously donated mine.

by ScoobySnax inhave been using morpheus for a couple of years now, and hasn't been too bad at all, got about 400 tracks download.
since gettiing aol broadband, the diversity seems to have diminished a bit, either i'm on the wrong dsl provider or morpheus isn't as good as it used to be.
the one i was on previous (can't remember the name now) went totally pearshaped after it got served a writ for using copyrighted material.....anyway, know of any other good music file sharing sites?

I use Kaaza as well. I have used WinMx and it sux.
Most of the music I download I have already bought, so I do pay the artist, but it takes less time to just look up and click a song than it does to pull all of my albums out that I want a song off of and pick each individual song to download, and sit there and switch CD's. It is just much easier to dowload off Kaaza to make a mix cd.
