as a brief update my wife sweet pea and i have 'announced' to a few friends and close family - less than 10 altogether - that we are no longer going to meetings.

some friends have probed for details, others don't want to know.

OH, thanks for clearing that up. I was really racking my brain. I guess I don't use that word very often so I didn't think of it. Either that or the blonde side was showing though. God, I was thinking if it was dumbass I was really in trouble. Ever since the 70's show it is permanently entrenched.

Perhaps the word Daft should be used instead of the insensitive R word. Honestly I have caught myself saying it in the past and force myself to stop or apologize because I know the effect it can have on people.

I got really pissed this weekend with the N jokes. All my guy friends who really aren't racist started in on them. Not one or two, but like twenty. I finally shouted at them and was super angry. They couldn't understand why. They used the cracker/honky thing too. But Cracker and Honky were never names given to oppressed or slaved people. That is not a comparison. There is no comparison. I find anyone who uses the term of any color to be ignorant. That however is just my opinion and well as long as it isn't said in my presence, it ain't my business.

I am so confused. I really don't know what D word you are referring do. I don't see Damn as very insensitive. Is it Dumbass as in Red Foreman 70's show? Cause I didn't think that was offensive either.

You never can understand how one feels until you yourself experience it. Her long lost love makes her happy and her JW doesn't, so now she can understand why you are happier. It's that simple. I would push her towards her long lost love. Show her the 10-8-2003 Awake on Mosaics or remind her of all the articles on artists over the years and kind of nudge toward the fact that her JW boyfriend may be leading her astray.

a card I received that reallly upset me

a couple fo days ago two witnesses knocked with their children, they gave me flowers and a card with the following message:.

"we want you know that we love you, and that you are in our prayers..we are thinking about you.. we remember too, and are grateful for yur support in the past, especially 6 years ago, when you came to the home, following our loss of dennis (not his real name).. in these last days, life is harder then ever.

satan is trying to break all of us, be it through health problems, the ones we love and even our brothers and sisters where it hurts the most.

I am so sorry this happened. They love us in their own jacked up way and that is their way of attempting to show it. Again it is a very jacked up way to do it. Just look it as "well it is nice to know they care about me" as opposed to a jab. It is just the way that mental people show affection.

Catholics on Big Love

andre's thread on jws vs catholics reminded me for some reason of last night's episode of big love.. did anyone else relate to nikki's response to her son playing with a cross?

it was as if she was possessed by a jw demon or sumthin.

and her whole attitude toward the catholic faith reminded me of how jws react.

I was totally thinking when I saw the look on her face when she saw the rosary "Oh, NO not an IDOL"! Then I chuckled to myself for having the same thought as her.

Honestly though, although admiring the old architecture, I find most catholic churches to be gaudy.

i was sexually abused as a child and the witness's accepted it and helped me granted they didn't go into depth about it with me but they do not cover it up they just dont like things publicized not every rape or sexual abuse is put on the news so why should a witness being raped be put on the news they are private people why not let it be

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage and your depression. A lot of people on here suffer depression as well. If you are seeing a psychiatrist, perhaps you should see a psychologist for a change. There is a difference and well if one isn't working then try another.

I don't think you are understanding what everyone is trying to say. First off, was the rapist a witness? If not then the elders have no problem with you contacting the authorities. Second no one has an issue with the poor child being entitled to privacy in the matter. No child should be drug through the mud in such cases but the offender elder, MS, or mere congregation member should be turned in. If the elders did turn in a congregation member then GOOD FOR THEM!! They actually did the right thing. You have to understand this does not happen in all cases. Just because your family was surrounded by good elders does not mean everyone is.

Well, well, well, things are certainly changing...

you know here lately, my life has had lots of ups and downs.

this was my first year of not going to district convention, my (step) grandpa developed brain cancer, my dad and most of his family won't speak to me, and my girlfriend and i were having troubles.

on the other hand, my mom and her side of the family have embraced me, my cousin (that left the borg) and i are closer than ever, my girlfriend is super, my band plays all the time, and i've got a great group of friends.
