my mum showed me this e-mail her jw friend had sent her last week.. in it the friend explained how wonderful the magazines are and how they provide food at the proper time because they had recently had an article in about ' being prepared for the unexpected'.

the article had told them to have a bag packed with emergency stuff in case they ever needed to leave the house in a hurry.

so they were told to pack dried food, a wallet with important documents in, waterproof clothing etc.. now this, it seems, was pretty relevant because i live in gloucester where were had terrible floods a few weeks ago, and some peoples houses were flooded out, the entire city had its water cut off for a fortnight because the pumping station flooded, and most work places were unable to allow staff in because they were not able to provide flushing toilets or running water.. so my mims friend was totally blown away by how jehovah is so clever - although having dried food and your passport in a waterproof wallet did nothing to help you flush the toilet for a fortnight.. but - now heres to point of this long and rambling story - i suddenly got super angry about this article and its survivialist mentalilty.

Well you should tell your mom the Government is obviously the FDS dispensing food at the proper time because they came up with this info first. The WTBS probably pretty much just copied it.

I desperately need some advice

i'm new to this forum as a user, 'been hanging around for a while and enjoyed reading the posts here, this site has provided a lot of confidence and encouragement to me through harsh times.

so nice to know that other people out there struggle with the same issues as me.

Sounds to me like you have faded quite well. I would stay like you are for now, while building up another set of friends outside the JW's. You will need them if you ever do enter the political arena. Look at the Williams sisters. They play tennis in Davis cup for their country which is a no no. They wear scandelous outfits. They are still in good standing. It is possible this would happen to you as well it is also possible it would not. Either way you will need friends to rely on that won't shun you. Build this up first before making any other decisions.

has any1 been left with other issues(alchohol,drugs etc)as a result of life

i,m not making xcuses for the way ive lived my life, but have sunk myself into "the pleasures of this world"quite wholeheartedly.

mostly to escape my own demons, ironicaly due to serving god!just wondered if any of u guys went completely off the rails when u left n indulged in "unwholesome activies" like me.or maybe its jus me that ended up completely f**d up?

I usually drink up one weekend night a week. I am dd the other night. After my parents refused to speak to me, I went through a phase of drinking every night until I was able to get past it. Now back to normal.

this weekend, hubby and i took the kids to my mom and dad for a visit.

i have avoided doing this for a while, just because i get so stressed when we get together.

today i decided to write my mom and sister, who are currently occupied with shunning me, a letter of good-bye.

seems to me that this should bring me somewhat of a closure to this whole jw business.

i probably won't send this out until next week.

Baby Shower

so, this week i was invited to a baby shower being held for my very oldest friend - she and i were toddlers in the same cong, went to the same school, did talks together and aux.

pioneered together... after i left school and subsequently the borg, her and i kind of lost touch (although i did go to her wedding (at age 18???

) ) and we have chatted on and off over the years, and seen each other once or twice since then (she came to see my kids when they were born).

I know exactly how you feel as I have been in the same situation with my best friend. I havent' been allowed to see her kids for over a year now. How I miss them and her. Just send a gift and hold up a toast to your longest friend tonight in the hopes she will one day see the light.
