WOW, welcome to the board!!!
I am glad you were able to break free along with your family. Thanks for sharing.
i've been lurking here for a few years on and off.
i faded from the borg seven years ago and haven't had one regret since.
the only regret i have is wasting twenty years of my life and my children's lives.

so, i have a friends bday party at a pub to attend this evening.
she's been a friend of mine since about february.
she bartends at the pub i spent alot of time at before i moved to my new place in may.
Most art supply stores carry cards made by local artists. Maybe go in between your ideas and get her a birthday card from there and a few drinks.
so about a month ago, i finally "confessed" to my jw friend that my husband and i haven't been to a meeting since february.
we're in different halls, so she wasn't aware of our inactivity.
when i told her, i didn't explain any details about what lead us to stop going, other than the normal "we're confused- so much going on, new baby, etc" stuff.
Wow sorry your friends suck so bad. I have two friends that know I am out and still talk to me. It is just weird they dumped you over something small like that. I would call expecting friend and say you want to throw her a shower if no one else is. See what happens from there.
ok all....here's my big news!
little old me, once-upon-a-time a 'need greater', a pioneer, an elder's wife......now i'm 5 weeks pregnant with my boyfriend!
:) my dear ma and pa have been hiding their heads in the sand and hoping for the last few years that i would go to meetings again.. i certainly hope that they'll be able to be excited about their first 'grandbaby'.
WOW Congrats!!!
guys;.
i normally come on here, and am strong and very vocal in me distain for the borg and all the things it entailed.
just feeling a bit sad for myself tonight and wanted to tell my friends.. my birthday was yesterday.
Yeah, you should send a gift to his school for his birthday every year. A cookie boquet with enough for his class or something like that. Mom couldn't stop you then. Who is she to judge really? Ex stripper?? How haughty the JW's become.
Auntie Twinkle is the cutest name ever. My heart goes out to you.
she just posted this on another thread:
hi all, i finally got the nerve to join.....
welcome to the board.
Welcome to the Board!!
i know this day would have arrived , sooner or later.. .
i'm inactive from 1 year now, and i go to the meeting just sometime on the sunday.. but my wife is in a very well standing , and the kids are following her at meeting and service field.. .
yesteray evening my wife told me that my 2 boys asked the elder to become publisher.. they are 13 and 10 age.. the elder was very polite , and ask my wife to have my opinion regarding this.. i'm going to talk the oldest boy (not taking in consideration the 10 yrs old one).. i would like not to be so drastic and not offend him, but i have to start some point to tell him some truth regarding this organization .. any suggestion ?.
I would ask him a question and tell him to think about it before answering me. I would tell him that as a parent all I want is his happiness and to please be honest with me so I can help to make him happy. Then I would ask:
Do you feel like you want to be a publisher because YOU really want to or merely because you think it is the right thing to do or because you want to please mommy and the congregation?
when i call my mother she says she can't talk to me because i am dfed.. i asked her to help me and my pregnant wife move and she said "i don't think i can do that"... whos not allowing her to do it?.
she always calls me if her car or her computer breaks.. she called me today because her computer broke.
so.... i turned the tables on her.
Excellent
my mom called and so did several other folks over the past week to tell me that my neice has announced that she no longer wants to be one of jws and will not be returning to the kingdom hall.
supposedly she made this annoucement a several months ago and no one took her seriously till her mom (my ex-sister-in-law and a super pioneer of more than 20 years) just stopped attending meetings a few months ago.
anyway, since they both seemed to have stopped drinking the kool-aid, i get the conf-call from several family members.
Congratulations. Perhaps you could call them and let them know you do not judge them and that you still love them and will be there anytime you need them. That way they know you are not shunning them without tipping your hand.
my mums mum is very sick, she has been in hospital the last month with really bad infection, they have tried every time of antibiotics to get rid of it.
this last week she has refused to eat and drink, she told my mum she was tired of all of this, and basically said her goodbyes the other night.. we went in on saturday to see her, my mum was there, and even tho it was a little strained we managed to talk for a few hours it was nice to see her.. i got a phone call off my dad's mum today saying that my nan was deteriorating, so i msg my mum to see if this was true, it wasnt, my nan likes to dramatise things, my mum promised me she would keep me updated.
i received a phone call about an hour ago from my nan (dads mum) saying that the infection has cleared up and that she is improving and eating and drinking.
