Almost all the ones I know do believe it will come before they die. I know people who are putting off having children because they think the end is just around the corner and they don't want their children to have to live through Armegeddon.

Do Any JW's Believe The End Will Come In Their Lifetime???
by minimus ini believe most witnesses do not want to even think about this question.
confronting it is too painful for most.
look at the way the typical jw lives now.

District Assembly talks about apostates............
by integ indistrict assembly 5/24/03 3:40 pm "beware of the voice of strangers".. 1) counterfeit words: beware of those using "counterfeit words".
2) flirting: young ones need to avoid being lured into relationships with un-believers.. 3) you trust your christian parents...listen to them.
you also trust those taking the lead among you..such as elders.

Apostates, Is that what we are?
And I thought we were just open minded individuals having discussions about bible beliefs. Boy was I swindled.

It's the "YOU ARE WRONG!" Game!
by Yizuman inok, so here's the idea, for anyone who doesn't know... .
the first person makes a (supposedly) undeniable statement.
the next poster has to somehow prove him wrong, and make a statement of their own.. .

You are wrong!!! The watchtower merely recites the bible, a very old book, by subject matter. The Awake however gives us up to date information on current events and how they are fulfilling bible prophecies. The Awake is clearly better.
The Bible has an answer for all our modern day problems.

Did you take down notes at the meetings?
by JH inwere you the type to always jot down every little detail the brothers said from the podium?.
i found it amusing when especially sisters were always writting notes in their pads when the brother was giving a talk in the front.. i wonder if it was because they found the topic interesting, or because they wanted to look as if they were learning something.. i was all ears, but never took down notes.
that's odd, coming from a person who is "visual".

I did just so I wouldn't fall asleep. Alot of times notes were really notes to my friends sitting beside me making fun of someone or something close by.

Finally they came to my door!
by Beans inwell it was a thursday night and i see these two sisters walking up the street, my after thought was what the hell are they out on bookstudy night?
so then the doorbell rings, bingo my wish has come true after a year of reading i get to ask some door knockers some deep hearted questions!.
as they went into there spiel i had a major flashback, they were saying the exact same thing i recall my father saying 30 years ago "we are living in such a terrible world" and i said to them what, this is a great place to live, we are in a great country living a great life!

I asked them about Lev 3:17 as it states to abstain from FAT and BLOOD, so I asked why do you not abstain from fat as it is clearly stated equally to abstain from that and why only half of the scripture is obayed? They gave me some bull about fat was meant to be burnt, a load of crap answer!
The usual answer to that is the fat commandment wasn't restated in the new testament. Where I believe it was Paul that said, I admonish you brothers that you keep abstaining from these things, namely blood and things strangled and idols.
Supprized they weren't trained well enough to pull that one out of their @ss. Wow I have been doing that preaching thing too long.

REASONING FROM THE SCRIPTURES,page 243
by badboy inwhat is indicated by``clouds''?
invisibility.
when an plane is in a thick cloud or above the clouds, people on the ground usually cannot c it,although they may hear the roar of the engine.jehovah told moses;"i am coming 2 u in a dark cloud.

Question: How can clouds represent invisibilaty when you can see them?
So if jesus came in a cloud we wouldn't see him, but we would still see the damn cloud. So I guess Jesus is with me right now. Sure is cloudy outside.

Ever been to a therapist?
by teejay insorry if the title came across as a "minimus question," but after posting to one of joelbear's threads, i thought of my experience with therapists.
all together, i've spent between 20 and 30 hours in counseling on two separate occassions and, i'm happy to say, both of the counselors and both of the experiences remain very good memories.
i found out early on that for them to do their job, you had to be bluntly honest so that's what i did.

Yep, within the last year. It helped me immensely. I remember when I told him that I would be excommunicated and my parents wouldn't speak to me if I disagreed openly about my parents religion. He about fell out of his chair. That was when I realized this religion was really screwed up.

My first "Wordly" Funeral...
by confuzcious inhey guys, .
i just attended my first "worldly" funeral since i've been out of "the truth" tm.. anyways, i thought it was nicely done.
it gave honor to the deceased, it drew me closer to jesus and it evoked emotions within me.. i'm just contrasting this to the jw funerals which always seems like way to peddle products rather than honor the dead.. no thoughts in particular for me, but anyone have any similar thoughts???.

I have been to many of both. I have never been to a funeral where they actually spoke of the person as opposed to their religion's belief about the dead. My cousins funeral, who didn't go to a church of any sort was fairly personalized. All of his friends got up and said something about how he had influenced thier life. That was the only funeral I have ever been to where they actually spoke about the life of the deceased and not how the deceased was going to end up.
