Wow, I cannot imagine what you are going through, but it sounds as if you have a very supportive wife and we all support you here. I don't believe all repressed memories are planted as some suggest. I do believe that if you start remembering something on your own, it is probably a true memory. Of course there are those Psychatriast that ask leading questions like "Your mother touched you didn't she?" or something to that affect that could cause some people to start having untrue memories, but I think for the most part Therapists are very careful about doing that. Most therapists just ask a simple question and let you answer it for yourself. I suppressed some bad things from my childhood, and when somebody says something all of a sudden the memory comes back and I didn't go through anything close to what you went through, so I definately think you probably suppressed those bad memories. It seems like you are coping well. I hope the nightmares stop and you can beat this depression. Best Wishes.

Repressed, Triggered and Recovered Memories
by Big Tex infirst of all, let me say that many, if not most, of my memories of abuse and early childhood were recovered.
some people feel that this diminishes my experience, or in some way denies what happened.
i suffered from major depression and was quite suicidal for 2 years before something happened to trigger my memories.

As a loyal JW, what made you to start doubting the Watchtower ???
by run dont walk ini'm sure all of us were loyal at one time to the watchtower, believing in all of it.
(some of us probaly hated it from day one as well but, ).
what were some of the first things that happened or were said, that made you to start doubting it and beginning the loss of your loyalty to the organization ??????.

I guess even as a teenager I had issues with disfellowshipping, trying to predict the end of the system of things even though the bible says no one can predict it not even Jesus knows, and the whole you can read our literature but no one elses. I figured if other religions got things wrong about JW's maybe the JW's get things wrong about other religions, besides if JW's had the truth there is no harm in reading other material, because I would only see the truth clearer. The final turning point though was 9/11 and the lack of love shown by the brothers during that time.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like the place you are working at is run by a bunch of Aholes, so you may be better off in the long run. Many people are losing their jobs in this economy. Many of us feel your pain. There is always unemployment to keep you afloat for a few months. The unfair employment lawsuit is up to you, but do you really want to put yourself through years of anguish over a bunch of Aholes who didn't appreciate you in the first place?
I wish you the best and hope you will be able to find a new, better job quickly.

What Results When JW's Associate ONLY With Fellow JW's?
by minimus ini clearly see that jw's are constantly being told to only associate with fellow believers if at all humanly possible.
there is to be either no association or at the minimum, very little socializing with non-witnesses.
in your opinion, what does this produce?

You Should Feel Guilty If You Don't Pioneer Even If You're Retired or Young
by minimus inper the june km, if you just got out of school and are young and decide to get a great paying job, you should feel guilty.
and if after you finally can relax a little and enjoy retirement in the last few years of your life, you are expected to pioneer as soon as possible.
the articles were designed to produce major guilt in any that might want to do otherwise.

Well, he has graduated High School, so I am assuming he is 18 or close to it. At least he was smart enough to wait until they were consenting ADULTS and not 14 year olds. Plus he was safe. Sounds like you raised an intelligent child. I know it is hard to hear about your CHILD being sexually active, but they have to grow up sometime. Hope your wife will be able to deal with it all, she will probably get flack from the Cong as well.

In your experience, do JW's show hospitality?
by Gopher inand i don't just mean "formal" hospitality that is scheduled on the announcement board for visiting speakers and travelling overseers.. i mean real, from the heart, love of strangers (xenophilia in greek).
xenophobia (fear of strangers) is the antithesis of hospitality.. when you visited other halls where nobody knew you (and you weren't the guest speaker or the travelling overseer), did people go out of their way to make you feel welcome?
or did they mutter to themselves, "i wonder who the stranger is?

The ones I know were, but I am from the South, I hear most southerners are hospitable. But they were only hospitable to OTHER JW's, never to non-believing family memebers or other worldly people.

How Screwed Up Are You Because You Were A Jehovah's Witness???
by minimus inafter reading so many experiences about how being a jw affected a person's life, i wonder how your life has turned out because you were at one time a witness.

Pretty d@mn screwed up, but I have gotten alot better in the past year after seeing a counselor for a while. Between severe depression and feelings of inadaquacy and not feeling loved all because I wasn't the pioneer/bethelite my mother wanted, plus being told things like "the reason you are clumsy is be cause you have done something Jehovah doesn't like and you feel the need inside to confess it to me and until you do you will keep hurting yourself", I turned out pretty screwed up. My hubby says I turned out relatively normal considering. But what is relatively normal for JW?

Any here really enjoy going out in service?
by freedom96 ini hated it with a passion!
who enjoyed it??.
i can possibly imagine someone who's home life was miserable, and it was an excuse to get out of the house.

I only enjoyed it if I was in a car group with all my friends. We always had a lot of fun together, it didn't really matter what we were doing. But if I got stuck with others, I was miserable.

Will The Pope Just Die Already!
by xjw_b12 inin the newspaper today there was an article on pope john paul's visit to crotia.
this is his 100th pilramage, in his 83rd year.
in 2 weeks he is scheduled to go to bosnia, where i doubt he'll get as warm as a reception as he did in croatia.

Your description of the pope reminds me of that South Park episode. Some really funny stuff.
Paralell between the Pope and the GB? The old annointed brothers turned everything over to the younger non annointed people so they could mainly focus on spiritual matters.
