PEACE & SECURITY!! New teaching?

i was talking with my jw friend yesterday who was saying she believes armageddon is near.

i said the end can't be too near because the nations haven't declared peace and security yet.

to which she replied, "oh, they explained that at the assembly.

I was talking with my JW friend yesterday who was saying she believes Armageddon is near. I said the end can't be too near because the nations haven't declared Peace and Security yet. To which she replied, "Oh, they explained that at the assembly. Jehovah's people are in a relative state of peace right now, in the sense that most JW aren't being persecuted around the world and the preaching work isn't under ban in many places anymore, so we are at peace right now." I just told her I had always been taught that prophesy applied to the worldly Governments not Jehovah's people. She just shrugged.

Since I am not attending the assembly this year, I thought I would see if this was a common NEW teaching at the assemblies? Am I wrong, or by applying that scripture to JW's instead of governments, have they not completely changed thier application of this? Please enlighten me. I am sure there was alot of info on it in 85/86 with the International Year of Peace, but I don't have a WT CD.

i was at my cousin's wedding this past weekend, and the po from his kingdom hall was present.

My mother is just like that, the wife that is, my mother isn't an elder. She goes on and on. She asked me what I thought of the assembly she BELIEVES I went to. I said it was allright. She said "ALLRIGHT?!!!! Wasn't it WONDERFUL?!!!" I said "yeah 8 hours in hard chairs is wonderful ma. It was alright." She thinks everything is Great and Wonderful and Upbuilding even though she has been let down by the brothers countless times. She is a true Parrot, says and feels exactly what she is told to.

Thanks guys. I usually just ignore her and hope she will stop. Maybe one day I will get the nerve to tell her to leave me the hell alone. I tell her I am capable of handling myself all the time. I also tell her it is my dedication and baptism and therefore I am responsible for myself, she need not worry, again that doesn't work.

the lines of communication open or to reestablish communication. While

sticking to righteous principles they can again and again appeal to the

child to return to the way of the truth. w 10/1/01 9, 11a

Comment:

Parents and children should always be open to communication. When a parent

sees a child erring or drifting from the truth, the parent needs to talk

and reason with the child regardless of age. The same goes with the child

that sees a parent erring or drifting away from the truth. By doing this

we show loving concern just like Jehovah. Let us please keep communication

open and not take offense when we are prodded to do what is right.

What did you learn as a JW?

with 5 meetings a week plus field service, and additional reading of the bible and watchtower literature, what did you learn after all these years in the jw organization?

did we need all those meetings and time and effort just to know some simple details?

in all these years i spent there, this is just about all i can say i learned there: .

I also learned that baggy pants were evil along with skirts above the knee. God doesn't want to see the knees he created.

Is it me or are the Watchtower Publications disappearing ??????

i was at the hospital the other day in the waiting room for about 2 hours with a friend, and i noticed only one awake magazine from 2000 in the pile of reading material.. i always thought that the watchtower was trying to "preach the good news to all the inhabited earth before the end comes".

well , they don't like the internet, which is the # 1 way to inform people, you cannot get a subscription anymore unless someone at the hall does it for you or you are still attending, probaly why i didn't see any at the hospital, or lawyers office, or doctor's office etc etc etc.. it seems to me that they are trying to limit what info gets out to the outside world, is this not contradicting all they have preached the last 50 years.. no subscriptions for anyone who might want one ?????????.

no new books, for anyone who is not a jw.. what do you think ????????.

No one can get subscriptions anymore unless they are in a remote place that can not be put on a regular rotation magazine route. They are pushing the magazine route idea like never before. JW's are responsible for giving the people who want subscriptions their magazines now.

I need a good beating for what I did this morning

this morning i let my emotions run away with me and challenged my 20-year-old son into defending his loyalty to the watchtower shunning doctrine.

it was not good, im in no way proud of myself.

im sure he and my dub wife will likely mischaracterize it as an attack on god; anything said against the tower is always an attack on god.

Well if you feel bad, apologise for the manner in which you addressed things this morning. Just don't apologise for expressing your opinion. Just let him know that you know he is trying to do what he believes is right but as his father you feel a need to tell him if you think he is taking the wrong course. Also assuming these boys are the same age as him, it may also bring up emotions that it could be your son there in the hospital. When a child is hurt that we know, we all have a tendency to look at our own children and appreciate the fact that they are happy and healthy. Let him know that as well if that is how you feel. Perphaps the apology linked with your obvious show of concern will help him avoid an emotional breakdown. Best wishes.

As long as people believe that the FDS (anyone else notice that stands for Feminine Deodorant Spray as well as Faithful and Discreet Slave?) is gods direct channel, they will believe whatever they say. It is sad but true. JW's wholeheartedly believe that the FDS is speaking for God. As long as that is the case, people will still believe.
