What do they do with all that cash?
by yxl1 ini dont understand why the wts doesnt donate some of its time and resources to charity.
surely helping others in need would classify as a (the) christian act, and would bring a good witness.
imagine peoples perspective of the wts if they helped financially with high profile disasters.

They do do charity work!!!! They do the most important charity work possible. They save lives!!! How you say? Why by extending gods loving kindness to them through teaching the poor and down trodden about God's promise for the future. That way when the poor and downtrodden, dies of starvation or exposure, they will die happy knowing there is a paradise awaiting them. After all isn't that better than food or shelter really?!!!! (insert sarchasm as needed)

Did anyone else want to puke at assemblies?
by RoadDoctor inis it me or do others get absolutely sickened by the disgusting interviews given during circuit and district assemblies?
i mean, come on, how much more rehearsed are these little skits?
i always hated hearing everyone's "out of this world" field service experiences.

What made me really laugh was how perfect some of these Christian kids were, how they preached to their teachers and converted classmates.
Every time I was wondering "Does this kid get beat up alot in school or are they leading a double life?" I knew it had to be one of the two.

Good Will or the Salvation Army. I got my husband a three piece tan courderoy bellbottom set there for $10. Then I went to a costume shop and rented him a boa and Pimp hat. It was classic.

Single people of the opposite sex could not sit next to each other without a chair in between them unless they were engaged or there were NO other seats. Like I was going to give somebody a hand job during the meeting or something. WHATEVER!!

by Bona Dea inhello.... i don't really know if this has been posted yet.

pg 241, this is the last one I'm going to bring up today because I'm running out of time here. It is a picture of some families at what looks like a beach or water park or something, having a good time together. The caption reads, "Why should we not just be thinking about having fun?" Good grief. These poor kids. A portion of the surrounding article entitled, "Water Destroys a World -- Will it Happen Again?": "Now, remember, Jesus said that what happened to those people [the flood] is a lesson for us today. What lesson can we learn?-- Well, people were destroyed not only because they were bad but because many were just too busy to take the time to learn about God and what he was going to do. We need to be careful that we are not like them, don't we?"
OH MY GOD!! FOR REAL???? I haven't seen this book. Jesus no wonder all us JW raised kids are screwed in the head a little bit if this is what we were fed when we were children.
There is alot of info on freeminds.org such as: http://www.freeminds.org/psych/growinup.htm OR http://www.freeminds.org/psych/kidphob.htm

She even said she loves that the society is humble enought to admit when they are wrong about teachings and adjust them - but not adjust them too much to just be like "the world" ....
You should answer in TRUE JW FASHION by asking a question and letting them answer it.
"Would you agree that the bible writers were imperfect humans?" To which of course she will say YES. "And would you agree that they had gods holy spirit upon them?" Again YES. "Do you have any reason to believe that they wrote things down slightly wrong the first time and Jehovah had to tell them YEARS later to correct it?" NO. "Well then if the bible writers could get it right the first time with the help of gods holy spirit despite being imperfect humans, why can't the society get it right the first time if they truly have gods holy spirit?" I think the response here will be SILENCE.

'Divisions' in the EXJW World: Thoughts, Please!
by lisaBObeesa indoesnt it seem that the people who have been out of the jws for a while have, for the most part, divided into two political parties?
we have the group who is pro-trying-to-bringing-down-the-wt and the group that is anti-trying-to-bring-down-the wt.
of course we have a bunch of independents, too.

It seems to me that differences are what make life interesting. This board would be BORING if everyone believed the exact same thing. That would give a whole new meaning to the borg. I feel that everyone is entitled to believe what they want to believe and express their views. I enjoy seeing the differences on the board. I enjoy the open discussions of people who view things differently. It keeps the board interesting.

Shunning your Children
by missylissy ini dont know if im putting this in the rite place.... .
when a young jw teen ( 13-16) disassociates themselves, or is disfellowshipped, will the parents kick them out of the house?
or are they required to let them stay?

would it be any different if someone just sory of faded away from the witnesses without being disfellowshipped or formally disassociating themselves? would they still be shunned?
I am in the process of this right now. I don't live at home, but my parents can still speak to me if I fade away. Every can speak to a fader, but it is possible for them to be shunned a bit as well. Alot of times they will not be invited to gatherings or warmly welcomed at the hall, but if someone is trying to fade, they don't care about that stuff anyways.
