JW's and interracial marriage?
by c.dawn inmy nephew a jw who is white is dating another jw who is black with the intent to announce their engagement soon.. i had been reading about the past history of the jw's opinion of the black race.
old writings that said they were gods people too, but not intelligent as white etc and not qualified intellectually to go door to door to teach etc.that all people would be white in the new system.. i had read of a rope being run down the pews of the fellowship halls to separate the races during services during the 50's early 60's at the halls that did allow intergrated services... this was supposed to have taken place even up to a few years after de-segregation in the schools and other public places took effect.. that in some areas they had their own hall to meet at and the whites had theirs.
at one point the members of the black hall had asked to meet at the white hall as their building was being repaired or soemthing and they were told no, that some of the members of the white hall wouldn't understand or approve.. and i read that even up into the late 90's, many black members still weren't being given postions or responsibilities that whites had held since the beginning of the jw's.. i was just wondering how far they've come along to improve this image and if anyone knows thier opinion of interracial marriages.

I know for a fact that the halls in Randolph County, North Carolina were segregated until the 60's. I didn't find this out until about a year ago, because I am only in my 20's. I was talking to an older black sister about the locations of the old halls and how did they have two different ones at the same time in one city? She said one of the locations was the black congregation and the other was the white congregation. Some of the really old halls, still have two water fountains. Many have replaced one of the fountains with a short fountain for kids, but back in the day two were installed, one for blacks and one for whites, after the congregations were segregated. I couldn't believe it. I was never raised with any predjudice, but my parents didn't join until the early 70's. There are many mixed racial couples now and they all are respected and I don't think they are shown any predjudice. It is just weird that the congregations have only been mixed for 60 years. I had never even known there had ever been a segregated KH until last year and I was raised in the troof. Freaky.

What is your Favorite Scene from a Movie?
by Sweetp0985 ini thought about this topic last night for the board when watching one of my favorite movies.. 1. the man from snowy river- the part when they are going after the expensive colt and they get to the edge of the cliff and all the other riders stop and "jim" keeps going and leaps down the cliff after the wild horses.
i absolutely love that part of the movie...everytime its on i have to watch it, if not just to see this part only.. 2. love and basketball- when she tells him she will play for his heart...awwww first time i started crying.
and then the music they had playing in the background made it even worse.

I was a product of the 80's and 90's:
GOONIES: Chunk: Everything. OK! I'll talk! In third grade, I cheated on my history exam. In fourth grade, I stole my uncle Max's toupee and I glued it on my face when I was Moses in my Hebrew School play. In fifth grade, I knocked my sister Edie down the stairs and I blamed it on the dog... When my mom sent me to the summer camp for fat kids and then they served lunch I got nuts and I pigged out and they kicked me out... But the worst thing I ever done - I mixed a pot of fake puke at home and then I went to this movie theater, hid the puke in my jacket, climbed up to the balcony and then, t-t-then, I made a noise like this: hua-hua-hua-huaaaaaaa - and then I dumped it over the side, all over the people in the audience. And then, this was horrible, all the people started getting sick and throwing up all over each other. I never felt so bad in my entire life.
CLERKS:It's important to have a job that makes a difference, boys. That's why I manually masturbate caged animals for artificial insemination.

How Many Lies Must We Tell . . . YOUR OPINION.
by Corvin inthere is a song called, how many lies, which reminds of my life in the organization of jw's.
a portion of the song is below, but i have a question.. once there were times,.
once there were reasons filled with rhymes,.

I lie all the time. More than any other people I know, and I am darn good at it too. I amaze others at how quickly I can come up with a plausible lie and not change a facial expression. I attribute this ability to the fact I have had to lie to my parents my entire life to be able to do ANYTHING!!!! So do I as a JW lie more than others that were never JW's? MOST DEFINATELY!! Do I lie because I was taught lies? No. I lie because I don't want my parents to disown me. I have sucessfully faded so far, partially because I am a good liar.

SNOOPING... do you?
by Sassy inthe premise of the movie the little black book, seems to have brought this topic up in conversation i have noticed... radio stations are having call ins... today one made the statement that women will snoop more than men and they were wanting callers to say if they snoop or not.. .
its been intersting to hear some of the calls.. .
would you be tempted to snoop to make sure your love is in check?

I don't go looking for stuff, but if something is there, I have to look. Like I need somebodys phone # and it is in his outlook address book. If an email message is up I will read it but I don't go looking for it. I think I was a cat in a previous life. Curiousity just KILLS me. But then again, my husband knows that.

Yeah seems like you have it down. WOW.
Seems like Julie should tell Bill exactly how she feels when they are alone and see if he sticks around. ie. hey I don't want to be a witness and don't want to convert you either, but if you wanna date sometime let's do it. I hope it works out for her.

Um ME and my HUBBY and all our wild and crazy friends from back in the day. One of my friends dad was quite the drunk. Only man I knew that could sleep, literally, standing up.
