WOW, it really is world wide, I came up with people from the Phillipines and Nigeria.
Just to see if I knew anyone I checked my state of NC and there is only one "sister" and one "brother" listed and they are both 23. Sounds like a match made in heaven to me.

Yeah, this is proof I never really payed any attention to what they were saying at the meetings.
I think they can't liken themselves to the tree because their organization is still too small to be a large tree. Perphaps that is why they claim it is christendom.
Now that I pay attention to things, they really twist the scriptures around. AND the always choose the most straight forward ones. It is like they are testing us to see if we will go along with something so ABSURD and WE DID!!!!!!

Wow, and I was in the truth in 2001. I guess I didn't pay attention then, just like the rest of the droids. That scripture couldn't be more plain. How can they screw it up like that and everybody just go along with it? Thank god I left.

First off, don't feel like you have to reply to this, just takes too much time. :-)
I have a different background from you, so I don't know if this would work for you or not. You seem to have a very open mind. I always did, but was raised a JW. I NEVER felt close to Jehovah. I have been baptized for 14 years and just recently feel like he is listening. The reason. I left the JW's. Once I stopped going to meetings, it allowed me to be free to really open my mind, to read the bible for myself without the pre-conditioning of the witnesses. I felt like I had such a clearer understanding of the bible. I like you think they are the closest to the truth as far as organized religion goes, but they still fall short.
I know you read the bible with no pre-conceived notions before, but it never hurts to do so again. I know it really helped me to feel an attachment to the person who inspired such writing, and not the people who try to interpret it for me.

I haven't been to a meeting in months. But, I recently found out my father has cancer and he came to the hall in my area and asked me to go with him, so I did. It was the CO visit. He kept talking about the mustard seed parable in a way I had never heard.
Matt: 13:31, 32 New American Standard Version.
31 He presented another parable to them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field;
32 and this is smaller than all other seeds, but when it is full grown, it is larger than the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that THE BIRDS OF THE AIR come and NEST IN ITS BRANCHES."The CO kept saying this represents an alternate kingdom. In this alternate kingdom, the tree is Christendom, because it has grown to be so much bigger than the other plants and the birds represnt the clergy. I had never heard anything about an alternate kingdom before. Was this supposedly new light that was brought out at an assembly or is this CO just off his rocker. The scripture PLAINLY says the kingdom of heaven, not the scary, alter-ego, alternate kingdom. It was just bizarre. I was raised a JW and never heard ANYONE apply that scripture that way.

Today's JW Is Yesterday's Failure!!!
by minimus inthe typical jehovah's witness no longer is the strong, spiritual giant.
lately, i hear more and more "very inactive" jws that haven't gone to a congregation meeting in years, still consider themselves good jws.
they are like "home baptists".

I completely agree. Two of my friends, don't go at least once a week. They skipped every Thursday to watch Friends. They all hate the meetings and admit it, but go anyways and consider themselves good JW's. Their husbands are even used in the congregation. It is just weird. They never would have skipped a meeting for a show in years past. One of my friends got pissed at her congregation because they did NOTHING to help her when she lost her baby. They offered to help, said they would be there, and never showed up. So she and her hubby stopped going for months and joked about and encouraged my other friend and her hubby to skip and hang with them, which they did. But all considered themselves to be in as good of standing as before. Just Weird.

JW's and interracial marriage?
by c.dawn inmy nephew a jw who is white is dating another jw who is black with the intent to announce their engagement soon.. i had been reading about the past history of the jw's opinion of the black race.
old writings that said they were gods people too, but not intelligent as white etc and not qualified intellectually to go door to door to teach etc.that all people would be white in the new system.. i had read of a rope being run down the pews of the fellowship halls to separate the races during services during the 50's early 60's at the halls that did allow intergrated services... this was supposed to have taken place even up to a few years after de-segregation in the schools and other public places took effect.. that in some areas they had their own hall to meet at and the whites had theirs.
at one point the members of the black hall had asked to meet at the white hall as their building was being repaired or soemthing and they were told no, that some of the members of the white hall wouldn't understand or approve.. and i read that even up into the late 90's, many black members still weren't being given postions or responsibilities that whites had held since the beginning of the jw's.. i was just wondering how far they've come along to improve this image and if anyone knows thier opinion of interracial marriages.

OK I can't add. As to my previous post make that congregations have been mixed for 44 years not 60. Blonde Moment.
